I’m 49 almost 50, am I too old to wear clothes like this?
I am Nirvana’s and grunge generally 90s big fan but I don’t want to look like some mutton/ lamb fool wearing t shirt which my daughter wants to wear too ( she is 12)
I like a couple of these sweats but..

I still wear nirvana t shirts, my 19 year old bought me most of them. Yeah my 12 year old sometimes steals them along with his older brothers

I'm nearly 45

lovedive · 19/03/2023 17:06

My teen dd has the jacket and the long sleeved dark top. She very kindly got them in bigger sizes so I can borrow lol. I'm 51. Go for it x

thedevilsavocado · 19/03/2023 17:06

Wear whatever you like and as far as Nirvana goes, we saw them first!

SocksAndTheCity · 19/03/2023 17:07

I'm fifty and wearing a Nirvana T-shirt today, although I've had it for a very long time and it's definitely seen better days.

Nice work combining both ageism and misogyny in a single (barely comprehensible) sentence.

Xztop · 19/03/2023 17:12

Nirvana is the best band ever and Kurt should have been my husband lol but imo there is no age bracket for any item of clothing!!

Bananaman123 · 19/03/2023 17:17

Never too old in my opinion, at least you know who the bands are.

Fortyninealmostfifty · 19/03/2023 17:22

@SocksAndTheCity i did not combine anything. Simply I see young kids in these clothes hence I’m asking.
Once I had Rolling Stones t shirt and my colleagues were laughing at me ( I was 32 at that time)
In regards of my comprehensibility English language is not my first language.

Were you there the first time round?

Are they original?

Can you bring out the albums and posters, to flex over the young'uns?

LolaSmiles · 19/03/2023 17:26

I find it unusual seeing rock merch on fashion and fast fashion lines being worn by people who don't know the bands/don't listen to the bands.

Band shirts worn by fans are an all age style to me otherwise

Wonnle · 19/03/2023 17:31

I find it very odd indeed that you can buy GnR T shirts in Primark , not very rock and roll is it ?

Still got most of mine , all original , from back in the 90's

DinosaurMug · 19/03/2023 17:31

I'm 50. 5'3" and a size 10/12. I'm not at all cool. Last summer I was wearing Daisy Dukes and a Blondie T-shirt in Westfield Shopping Centre. I got more compliments wearing that outfit than any other I've ever had in my life! At first I thought people were taking the mick but it kept on happening!! 😂🤷‍♀️

Ridingfree · 19/03/2023 17:36

Where are these close from op? Love them

Vicliz24 · 19/03/2023 17:36

I still wear my original owned by me since the 70s Bat out of Hell T . I wore it to a Bon Jovi gig a few years ago and so many people commented on it . I'm 58 and wear my original Nirvana and Queen tees too , life is too short to not wear what you want to .

Fortyninealmostfifty · 19/03/2023 17:38

@Gingernaut yes, I was around in 90s, still well listening to grunge and rock music. But obviously these are not original, many shops sell these, to name few H&M, Primark, c&a .
I had original Soundgarden t shirt I got in1993 but stupidly sold it on eBay few yrs ago as too big, I couldn’t believe it sold immediately after I listed it! Now I can see why!

As I actually had a nirvana ticket (never got to use it) I feel entitled to wear a t shirt unlike these youngsters.

Men wear gig t shirts at any age, why not women?

NeedWineNow · 19/03/2023 17:45

Wear it! I still wear my band T-shirts. I had my Foo Fighters one on earlier this wee and the young girl in the coffee shop clearing my table said’ by the way I love your top’.

Niftythrifter · 19/03/2023 17:54

Wear them with pride!

Fortyninealmostfifty · 19/03/2023 18:33

@NeedWineNow i love FF! Thinking of getting their t shirt too!

@Fortyninealmostfifty Get one! Love mine!

handsoffate · 19/03/2023 19:58

I’m in my fifties and still wearing band t-shirts, original ‘80s ones bought at gigs up to new bands. Still going to festivals too.

LunaTheCat · 19/03/2023 20:09

I am 58 and would love a Nirvana 5 shirt! Unfortunately it tends to not go with my G sized boobs!
I do have pink streaks in my hair though… I get nice comments from people in their 20’s and 30’s.🤣🤣

RovenderKitt · 19/03/2023 20:18

I’m 52 and have been thinking of getting a Pearl Jam t-shirt - I say go for it!!!
