Age is not being kind… with pic! Botox needed, and what else??

I have always had a very “expressive” face but now it is really getting me down. I look battered, and significantly older than my friends (who are mostly older). For info, I’m not yet 40.

I’ve had Botox a couple of times and whilst I don’t love the frozen look, I think I need to keep it up as a preventative measure now??

I don’t smoke, don’t see much sun, don’t drink too much, why am I so wrinkled?! And what else will help? I could probably drink more water but that can’t be all I’m doing wrong!

Any advice much appreciated. Feeling a bit miserable.

I will update with Botox pics, it’s happening on Monday. Then a hydrafacial on Friday (is this too soon after the Botox)?? And then dermatica for pigmentation etc is arriving any day now…

Have started on a collagen supplement too and trying to drink more water!

Can I just say, I really really love your attitude! It has inspired me to make more of an effort. I’m 33 and do F all except drinks lots of water.

Good luck, and please share updates! 😊

Nope, I’ve always been quite slim. I am hypermobile and generally have low muscle tone all over (size 8 but flabby). I wonder if it’s something to do with that.

my lower face is bad, not wrinkly but saggy jowls and nasal folds galore. Deep Joy!

Ask about filler while you're having the botox . Cheek filler will help with lower face. Minimal and may last 12 months +

So, a week on…

the Botox went in today. I never like the first few days as it feels quite frozen but I know it’ll pass.

Dermatica has arrived and I’ll start using this evening.

I’ve been drinking lots more water and using sunscreen daily, along with the collagen supplement.

sleep - need more

running - need a hat/shades

I will update with some pics in a few weeks!

Hello everyone,

I thought I owed you all’s bit of an update! So, where are, 2 months into thereabouts?

Here’s a pic of my forehead last week…

I think it looks a lot better. Botox not as effective this time but I did ask for a slightly lower dose.

@MamaDuckling looks loads better to me already - not that you looked bad to begin with, you have a very approachable face! Can I ask where you get your botox, how do you find somewhere good for it?

I am also a runner and wear a visor as soon as the sun comes out, and lots of sunscreen as I am prone to dark patches on my face.

MoggyMittens23 · 16/05/2023 09:53

@MamaDuckling wow, agree looks loads better!

QueefQueen80s · 16/05/2023 10:07

Looks fantastic. My forehead is like yours OP, I'm a female Jim Carrey! Getting my first botox end of the month and can't wait.

SunnyEgg · 16/05/2023 10:11

You look really great, the Botox was a good decision

In the first pic are you raising your eyebrows or is that just as your face is resting?

Just curious, Botox still looks like right way to go

MamaDuckling · 16/05/2023 10:41

So in the first pic I was smiling (gurning probably), but no different to the face I would have been making in the second pic. My Botox is very natural because I can still make the gurn, but it’s not there at ‘rest’, where it was before.

This is Botox, plus 50+ sunscreen daily, new regime of Tret/Azaelic acid/Niacimide via Dermatica.

Im wearing sunglasses outdoors too to save squinting/gurning quite so much.

trying to drink more water and sleep more but I’m crap at both.

It does look good (not frozen either!) and will improve with further treatments. Did you have botox at corners of the eyes also?

Really successful - good stuff!

MamaDuckling · 16/05/2023 11:21

Yes @krill i had eyes done too, otherwise I get the “drop…”

@Stumpedasatree i get it done at my dental surgery. Just got lucky with a really good practitioner who genuinely cares about how I wanted the result.

I think you look really lovely, happy and kind. However:

  1. Sunscreen everyday. Sunglasses when needed.
  1. Retinol. If you're currently not using any: you could start with an OTC retinol (make sure it is not retinyp palmitate. Go for an OTC with retinol or retinaldehyde) before using a prescription retinol.
  1. Microdermabrasion/regular facials if you can afford them.
  1. Good skincare regime with enough oils and hydration.

And you could obviously acontinue botox. But I wouldn't do botox unless I also did the above... but maybe that's just me.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 16/05/2023 11:39

Should have read the update. Wow, what a change!

Overthinkingperhaps · 16/05/2023 11:49

Fabulous.

I think botox done well makes a huge difference.

In my clinic aswell as recommending botox
My tips are

Water and LOTS of it
SPF every day
Microneedling.

You look brilliant.

cocksstrideintheevening · 16/05/2023 13:25

You look fab!

MakesMeFeelSad · 16/05/2023 15:16

It looks really good! I can't afford botox so use tret (skin and me) have a fringe 🤣 and I've recently bought something called power Rewind by IL makiage for under eye bags/fine lines that is really really good
Also drinking more fluids and spf every day all make a difference

MamaDuckling · 16/05/2023 23:02

Ah thanks everyone! I do feel much better for it. The dermatica is definitely evening out my skin tone too and making it much more glowy.

I need to get back on my water intake (though to be fair I’m good with herbal and decaff teas), and the collagen supplements, I was taking those butvfan out.
