Bras for small of band size. Where to go?

I'm taking my daughter bra shopping tomorrow. Where is good for those with a small band size? She measures about 26 inches under her bust. There is a bravissimo where we are going. I've not been to one of those before. Are they expensive? I don't want to spend loads on bras for a 14 year old. They need to fit and be comfortable and not cost too much because she'll need two at least. Also getting myself measured for new bras so she has done solidarity. She's never been measured and is dreading it.
Thank you.

You will be unlikely to find a 26 back bra. Might have to go for a sister size in a 28 back with a smaller cup e.g. a 26D would have a sister size of 28C which has the same cup volume on a different back size

Freya are good on small sizes. My sister is a 28GG 🙊

Go to M&S. I was there just the other day. Some of their bras are tiny! I was in disbelief looking at them. I've been a lifelong 28 & used John Lewis, La Perla and Bravissimo. I'm on the other end now of a pair of 32GGs. I think I want a reduction. 🙄

I personally would go to a department store like John Lewis if possible because they have multiple brands to try. I have never fit a single M&S bra for example so if you go there it may or may not be successful, having said that she's young and it'll probably be sufficient for her.

Bravissimo to me would be overkill for a first bra. Maybe see whether she feels more comfortable in M&S or JL?

My DD is a 26 band. She measured herself using Bob method and we ordered a big delivery from M&S, Boux Avenue and Asda. She ended up keeping the 28c M&S one. I think the band might have come up a bit bigger. Will see if I can find the Boux Avenue one.
Like PP said it's very difficult to find 26.

I have been browsing at M&S and found this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/2-pack-non-wired-full-cup-bras-a-d/p/clp60164122?intid=mobileappppdpshare

I love bravissimo! It isn't cheap but the bras are always comfy from being well fitted.
I usually buy one or two there following a fitting and then head online to get bargains.

Yes but at 14 her size is likely to change really quickly!

Kdubs1981 · 15/03/2023 07:39

I would recommend Bois avenue for her age, but they start at 28 back

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 15/03/2023 07:41

I had this issue with dd (26 back) so we skipped the shopping and I ordered her some plain white m&s ones from their ebay outlet page.

gogohmm · 15/03/2023 07:43

M&S have a teen range.

dementedpixie · 15/03/2023 07:46

M&S don't go smaller than a 28 back either

AutisticLegoLover · 15/03/2023 07:50

Thank you. I'll try M&S first. There isn't a John Lewis so can't try there. I'm not sure there's a boux Avenue but there's a big M&S. She'd like some lined/moulded sports bras. She finds bras very uncomfortable due to sensory issues. I have the same problem and M&S ones always seem to have a prickly bit on one side that drives me mad. I prefer Victorias Secret Pink range abs my favourite and best fitting bras have been from there.

Bravissimo definitely. They are very good, and have a range.

AviMav · 15/03/2023 08:01

Bravissimo is very expense and a waste if you have a small bust. I honestly would try M&S for 1 bra and get the rest from Primark or Boux avenue.

Optionally · 15/03/2023 08:04

Bravissimo start from a 28D, so may be too big for your dd. But they are excellent at fitting so worth going for you, maybe buy one then look online for the same bra cheaper.

I use JL for dd and also (oddly) Decathlon as their XXS and XS bralettes often come up very small in the back. But you do need to try them on, they vary hugely in size.

Optionally · 15/03/2023 08:06

M&S was a fail for my dd, barely any 28 backs out and those only in A or AA. A shame as their online selection is good but since they weren’t available to try on in the huge local store, we just gave up. I did order some online later, but none of them
fitted.

You'll have a job finding any bras in smaller than a 32 back.

AutisticLegoLover · 15/03/2023 10:06

You have to book now for bra fitting at M&S. PITA. We are just trying on. Very little choice.

Also seconding the fact that M&S won't have the sizes you need. DD went for a measure there and she's a 28DD - although M&S say they stock that size, they don't, and nor do any high street brands (the smallest seemed to be a 30, and even with those the cup sizes were all A and AA).

It's a bit of a nightmare for DD, as know she'll grow out of her bras fast but we're going to have to spend a small fortune on Bravissimo or similar as the high street brands seem to think it physically impossible for you to have a small back and big boobs!

At the moment, DD is in stretchy sports bras we got from Primark until I get paid - they're OK but not enough support. Could be worth a look if your DD has a smaller cup size though.

My girls wear these as they are t-shirt fabric

or non-wired ones from Asda.

Bra fitting at M&S is old school - they do the add 4 inches to the band measurement thing. If you've measured her using the Boob Or Bust method, this gives a much better fit.

AutisticLegoLover · 15/03/2023 14:29

We had success in Victoria's Secret 😋 We only got one each but it's a start.
