wedding guest dresses like Nobody's Child?

Lumpy size 16, 50 year old. Been invited to a wedding. Want a "nice frock". Floaty not clingy. Must have sleeves. Not wrap style. Like the Nobody's Child range - can anyone else recommend other sites to look at? Budget around £50 - I'd rather not spend £££ on something I'm unlikely to wear again. Wedding is summer so have time.

What's putting you off nobody's child? If we know that it might help.
If it's price I'd look on vinted.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 02/03/2023 20:34

Check out their sale

or give us a dress that you like and we can try and find similar for less.

IkBenDeMol · 02/03/2023 20:36

It's not price - Just looking for other similar options I may have missed

Try Brakeburn. I had a good customer service experience with them too. Plus love my dress

IkBenDeMol · 03/03/2023 20:17

Thanks all, Finery a good should as I haven't heard of that brand before. Will keep looking.

Sosandar and the finery on M&S

bookish83 · 04/03/2023 07:14

Are both on M&S that should say!

MotherOfHouseplants · 04/03/2023 07:46

TK Max have had some Rixo dresses in recently, reduced to closer to your budget. I know MN is sneery about the ubiquitous floral dress and trainers but it is a very practical summer outfit so you may find you get quite a bit of wear out of it.

I love dancing leopard…. My go to for weddings. I’m a 16/18 and they are really flattering

I am so not up with the times, I keep forgetting that M&S and Next and the rest of them stock brands online other than their own. DD works at Next so staff discount...

Seeing some lovely dresses on this website... do you mind me asking what the quality is like? I'm a size 14 and so often disappointed by how the dress ends up looking on me when I get a delivery of something I fell in love with online!

IkBenDeMol · 04/03/2023 08:07

I did read on the M&S website that their dresses are "form fitting" and if you want it a bit looser, to order the next size up. Might order a couple of options and decide which I prefer. Teenage daughter thinks she is my official stylist for the wedding and let's just say what a size 10, 17 year old wants to wears and what a size 14/16, 50 year old wants to wear are not the same thing.

Thar comment was about Nobodys Child, @GallopingGreen I did look on the Dancing Leopard site but a lot of their dresses were wrap style which i'm not keen on.

I went to a wedding recently and couldn’t find anything, I ended up googling and looking though dresses in John Lewis’s sale and ended up with a lovely dress, would never have thought of looking there

piefacedClique · 04/03/2023 08:31

The quality is excellent @IkBenDeMol. I was very pleasantly surprised. I’ve looked at a few different ways of doing up the wrap dresses up too so they weren’t classic wrap style and they looked lovely x

GallopingGreen · 04/03/2023 08:48

Thanks all! Will give them a try.

redmimi · 04/03/2023 09:31

I recently got a dress for a wedding from Wallis, not somewhere I would normally shop. The one I picked wasn't clingy and I thought it was flattering after trying on loads of wrap dresses. There was lots of choice online.
