wedding guest dresses like Nobody's Child?

Lumpy size 16, 50 year old. Been invited to a wedding. Want a "nice frock". Floaty not clingy. Must have sleeves. Not wrap style. Like the Nobody's Child range - can anyone else recommend other sites to look at? Budget around £50 - I'd rather not spend £££ on something I'm unlikely to wear again. Wedding is summer so have time.

Is Wallis still a bricks and mortar shop @redmimi or is it all online now?

And @bonjello I have no idea - I saw it with the promoted label, thought that it was relevant to the question i'd just asked, and found myself on my own thread!!

@IkBenDeMol sadly it's online only, which is a pain.

I paid £7.99 for the Premier Delivery which is free next day delivery and returns for 12 months and then made a couple of orders so that I could try on a few dresses/different sizes.

Really weird isn't it!

Another good brand I remembered about is Silk Fred

M&S have several nobody's child dresses reduced in the sale so bought this one

in the sale. Took the advice to order a size up as they are "form fitting" which is just as well as everything but the 18 was out of stock. If it doesn't fit well I can easily return and keep looking.

Why does mumsnet say this thread is an ad?

An advert for M and S?

drinkingcream · 04/03/2023 23:35

Zara (the big stores)

Dizzywizz · 05/03/2023 06:32

Not sure if I’d be happy if I was Nobody’s Child, seems like an advert to NOT buy from them 😂

Yeah exactly! Weird

BarbaraWoodlouse · 05/03/2023 12:31

I assume that Mumsnet promote thIs kind of thread in the hope of creating another “Mumsnet Scarf” or Babyliss Big Hair (yes I have both of those” so they can pitch to fashion retailers how influential they are.

Love the green dress OP - shame it’s such limited stock.

I absolute recommend Girl in Mind. Gorgeous non clingy stuff around £50

QueefofSheena · 05/03/2023 17:58

What’s the sizing like with Girl in Mind? I struggle with the nork area with Nobody’s Child dresses on the more fitted stuff

Niftythrifter · 05/03/2023 18:00

Just popped on to say that M&S @IkBenDeMol have a sale on with Nobody’s Child included!

Ohnanawhatsyourname · 06/03/2023 12:30

Maybe try OMNES? They seem to do Reformation-style dresses, but much much cheaper. Quality looks ok!

clairelip · 07/03/2023 13:35

American site called bloomchic. Slow delivery only downside but they hav a fabulous range of dresses. Prices very reasonable as well. Lots of dresses with arms, pockets and not too short

The80swerethebest · 07/03/2023 16:58

Scamp & Dude have lovely dresses

BowiesJumper · 08/03/2023 08:09

M&S do nice midis (if that’s what you’re after).

And surprisingly New Look have some lovely ones. I wore one to a wedding from there last year. They tend to release them throughout the spring so may not have the full range in yet.

Mew2 · 09/03/2023 06:09

Bloom chic
little wings
Romans
They would be my go to!!
