I'm thinking with trainers for summer beer gardens (let me dream) and with heeled ankle boots for a party next weekend. I accept I'm not the most stylish person in the world, most outfits start with comfy shoes so there's always some compromise, but I think this could be quite a useful dress.

Or I could be getting sucked in by the big discount on what is still quite an expensive item?

I think it's lovely but you may get a bit cold in it next week 😅

Hoppinggreen · 10/02/2023 19:48

I wouldn’t wear that with trainers or ankle boots, it’s too dressy

Vallmo47 · 10/02/2023 19:48

I love it at a distance! The colour scheme and detail looks beautiful. But on closer inspection I’m a bit less sure (don’t like the close up). But it’s intriguing!! The price tag would make me lean towards a no though, it’s quite a lot of money.

ThePoshUns · 10/02/2023 19:49

Too dressy for trainers and boots.
That's a summer dress and I'd wear with sandals. Wouldn't be wearing in February.

Valkirie · 10/02/2023 19:52

Looks like you couldn’t wear a proper bra with it… would that bother you?

AdventFridgeOfShame · 10/02/2023 19:52

I quite like it and think it would look good with trainers or boots.
Will be a bugger to wear a bra under.
Next weekend - I'm impressed with your ruggedness.

WhatTrophy · 10/02/2023 19:53

A party dress is often strappy or strapless, even in winter? I won't be cold dancing.

I know about the shoes, but as I say comfy shoes always for me, so my "style" is trainers or boots with lots of things others wouldn't. Life's too short to have sore feet.

Inthinknit woukd be OK with a strapless bra? and I don't have so much to support that that would be a problem

Dry clean only.
Either costs you a fortune or you risk a hand wash.

It's viscose. I'd wash it. Never ruined one yet.

I think it looks lovely if you have the shape for it. Think it would be freezing next week though

MrsRickAstley · 10/02/2023 20:00

I don't like it I'm sorry.

WhatTrophy · 10/02/2023 20:01

I'm confused by all the comments about being cold. At a party? What do people wear to Christmas dos? Party dresses aren't usually warm?

It’s too long and too fussy for boots or trainers. It’s the neckline and hemline. They are just unbalanced. The length isn’t right. Too long and column like for boots.

Odd dress.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 10/02/2023 20:03

The neckline is not going to have much wiggle room in. If in doubt get the size up. Reviews say it comes up long.
I'm assuming you are fairly tall, slimish and small boobs. Go for it.

MrsR87 · 10/02/2023 20:04

I love it although I hate strapless bras so I w probably wouldn’t but it myself. I’d admire it if someone else was wearing it. We d think it would look a bit daft with trainers. Flat sandals of some kind absolutely but not trainers.

Puppers · 10/02/2023 20:05

It wouldn't go with trainers or boots as it's an occasion dress, although obviously you can wear anything you like - there's no law to say your outfit has to be cohesive. But I don't think it would clash in the cool, "effortlessly stylish" way that most people intend when pairing a dress with trainers. I think it would look odd to most beholders. Again though, you may not care what anyone else thinks which is something to be commended for if that's the case! It's also very dressy for a beer garden, but then maybe you go to much fancier pubs than I do.

It would look nice with flat sandals for a summer occasion. I agree that comfort is King 👍

Iamblossom · 10/02/2023 20:05

It would absolutely drown me.

I wouldn't be able to wear a bra.
My upper arms would be too exposed.
It wouldn't give me any shape.
And I wouldn't wear it in February as I would be freezing. Goosebumps everywhere even inside....every time someone opened a door, or I went to the loo, brrrr.....

But if you like it enough you should get it!

Rainraingoaway21 · 10/02/2023 20:05

I think it's a lovely dress OP! Not sure if boots would be too heavy a look with it though iyswim. Maybe block heel sandals? In the summer sandals and wedges definitley. I can't visualise trainers with it as feel it's too dressy.

pictoosh · 10/02/2023 20:08

I like the style and tailoring but not keen on the print or colour.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 10/02/2023 20:13

I'd put it with these. I may not be your average MNer

Not quite the boots I had in mind, but not that dissimilar and a biker jacket.

I'm tall and slim with small boobs. Old!

I think you could find a much nicer dress for £100 - but if you love it you should get it. It’s a bit of a nothing dress IMO with an odd pattern. And I don’t think it would look nice at all with trainers or boots.

Yes agreed

If you really love it, get it, otherwise you’ll always wish you had. But yeah, I’m not sure it’ll style up the way you’re imagining, OP. It’s the wrong cut and fabric for boots or trainers, too thin & dressy. Fine with heels for a drinks do or garden party, but it doesn’t feel like a versatile piece, esp if it’s toppy for you price wise.
