Not skinny jeans, not mom jeans

I swear there used to be a style of jeans called "cigarette"?

I'm looking for new jeans. I don't want mom jeans, but I don't want skin-tight skinny jeans either. I want something in between the two that also aren't "straight" jeans. Am I making sense? Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

I know it’s not a particularly fashionable shop, but matalan do a style called Jolie which they label as relaxed skinny which I think might be what you’re searching for.

I liked next slim fit and their cropped ones on me (5 ft 4) are about the length and fit of your first picture. Think they'd only be what I would call cropped on a very tall person! On the other hand their regular which used to fit me are now far too long - don't know what they've done to the sizing!

I have three pair of the m&s lily's I think they are what you are looking for, they are called relax skinnie its worth a try, I love them, I don't get on with wide fit jeans, the only other style I wear is the oasis scarlett, a slim bootcut, can only get them on ebay.

These are definitely skinny on me so maybe I need to size up! I got a pair of relaxed skinnies off Vinted, off the top of my head I can't remember where from as in the make, but I think Next....

I’ve been searching forever for what you describe OP, all the straight or relaxed jeans are too wide at the bottom, I don’t want material flapping about. I want jeans that skim my legs and are narrow at the ankle and not high waisted! It’s been a fruitless search.

They're not high waisted either. @LadyVictoriaSponge -I was on a similar quest and had almost given up on jeans til I found these. Can't stand 'Mum' jeans, 'boyfriend' jeans or 'barrel' jeans and just wanted decent dark denims that don't make me look like I'm trying to be 17 year old DD!

With the M&S ones it seems to depend on your clothing size as the sizing is graded so that any size over 12 or so is much wider in the leg compared to say size 8. I found the same with Boden too - anything that looks a slim cut on the model will be much wider in my size 14.

I have a pair of Hiut boyfriend jeans that are narrow but I don't think they make them anymore; mine are about four years old.

What about the Stradivarius slim mom, sound like what you’re after, I have 5 pairs, fit like a dream. Mine look slightly tighter on me but not much.

Some good suggestions here. I’m with you on this OP. I used to have a lovely pair of BDG jeans like you describe from Urban Outfitters in the US. Wore them to death & could never get them in the UK! I have M&S Lily but find them a little tight. Will check out the other suggestions. Has anyone found any good styles in Uniqlo?

These are the m&s Lily on me if it helps give an idea of the fit. They sprang to mind from reading your post and can see others have suggested them too. I like that they have room around the ankle but without being too much. I also went back for more and have them in grey and black too!

Levis 312 are good. Slim straight although they have quite a bit of stretch.

I have some Mint Velvet girlfriend jeans and they are similar to my H& M cigarette trousers so maybe search Vinted/ EBay and have a look.

Was also going to recommend gap vintage slim. They're slim but not skinny and I find them pretty flattering.

Just coming on to say this 👍 I have 3 pairs of Siena jeans (different shades 🤣) and they are so lovely!
