Your favourite soap?

I prefer soap to shower gel have used L'occitane, English soap company are nice and I used to like Crabtree & Evelyn Goatmilk until discontinued.

Currently Dove but I find Dove joyless to use. I like a soft lather that leaves my skin feeling moisturised and smelling lovely.

What's your favourite lovely smelling soap please?

I ordered some French soaps recommended on MN during lockdown. I found them drying somehow, I don’t mean they dried my skin, they left a strange dry feeling to my skin that Dove doesn’t.

I think this is because we are used to shower gels (and bars like dove, which is technically not soap) leaving a layer of residue that doesn't rinse off fully. Soap rinses off and just leaves your skin clean which is what the dryish feeling is.

Dove

Liz Earle does an amazing one, it's really gentle and smells gorgeous.

Otherwise I use Pears original, love the smell of it.

Love soap but just use supermarket stuff, so thanks for all the recommendations

If you use soap instead of shower gel, do you still use a puff or sponge, or just the bar? I'm so used to putting shower gel on a puff and having it be foamy.

I do. I rub the soap on the sponge so it lathers up. It doesnt get as much bubbles as shower gel though, but i prefer it, as shower gel feels like it doesnt properly rinse off

I use a puff or exfoliating gloves
The gloves are great for removing deo from under arms and getting soft feet!

Thanks both, I'll order some gloves, hopefully they'll help with my bumpy upper arm skin

Nesti Dante here. I'm the only person I know who likes the tomato leaf scented one. Cipresso is nice too.

I also like Arran Aromatics and Di Palomo.

Thanks, I tried the cerave cream but it didn't really help, I'll try this one.

KangarooKenny · 20/01/2023 13:54

Using exfoliating gloves and shower gel on my bumpy skin, then moisturising, works for me.
‘I’ve found Epsom salt baths helps too

TKMaxx is great for soaps. I always get the Scottish Fine Soaps if they have them. Also Nesti Dante, French Marseille soap and L'Occitane. I also love Floris soaps. (Sometimes a 'special buy' at John Lewis)

My absolute favourites are Claus Porto, especially Favorito and Valobra soaps.

Aesop Cleansing Slab, although I hate the shape, I wish they made a smaller version, but it smells divine.

I cut mine in half!

MattDillonsEyebrows · 21/01/2023 07:59

For everyday soap, I love this from Costco of all places!

www.costco.co.uk/Grocery-Household/Grocery-Delivery/Australian-Botanical-Soap-Bar-8-Pack-in-3-Varieties/p/1487863

the bars are massive and last for ages, I’ve got the blue one and it smells great.

I’ve had a look at the ingredients and I think it’s all ethical, although if someone reads it’s not, could you let me know as I’m just coming to the end of a box!!

WildFlowerBees · 23/01/2023 05:46

Thank you!
