Your favourite soap?

I prefer soap to shower gel have used L'occitane, English soap company are nice and I used to like Crabtree & Evelyn Goatmilk until discontinued.

Currently Dove but I find Dove joyless to use. I like a soft lather that leaves my skin feeling moisturised and smelling lovely.

What's your favourite lovely smelling soap please?

Thanks for the heads-up about Nesti Dante soaps. They're beyond my budget but I will heavily hint as potential gift before my upcoming birthday!

Obviously it's the efficacy of the actual soap which matters, but what very beautiful paper packaging, too. Which I will repurpose as drawer scenters.

@MiaMoor
I really like the sound of that as well. And a touching backstory to the company's origins. Added to my wishlist.

Coronation Street.

Dove shea butter.

Mydogatemypurse · 19/01/2023 22:02

I did a soap haul in tk maxx after this thread. Loads marked down in sale. Got beautiful african soap which I've heard is amazing for the face
A goats milk, 4x pine in gift set reduced and a shea butter. All massive, all beautiful packaged. Spent £12 in total. Ill have them for months, i dont use shower gel, just soap.

😂😂@ fanny soap. I get lovely soaps in TK Maxx. Favourite ever was a rough block one with a lemongrass scent. Went back in and bought the lot!

Love proper soap and it lasts for so long. Got my DS (previously a Lynx user) into it as well.

Another vote for TK Max for soaps - they usually have a great selection at good prices.

Any of the soaps from The Sea Shed. Big bars, gorgeous perfumes and lovely creamy lather.

Simple pure soap for sensitive skin for my face. After using all sorts of expensive face washes and moisturisers I decided to go back to basics. Using this soap with a hot flannel, followed by Aveno moisturiser at night and factor 30 suncream in a morning has been a revelation.

Skin is clear, bright and I'm saving a packet! No break outs since doing this routine. I do love a nice smelling soap for the shower thou as the rest of skin isn't as sensitive, might give one of these recommendations a ago!

Diptyque soap!!!
Pure luxury. And expensive treat but absolutely magic

Vicliz24 · 19/01/2023 22:14

I get all my soaps from Tkmaxx. Currently using a beautiful almond one . Labelled as made in Tuscany. So many great soaps in there and there's always some on the reduced section.

FGSWhatNow · 19/01/2023 22:17

TKMaxx for me, too! I'm using an almond one from there too, it makes the bathroom (and me!) smell lovely.

TheSmallAssassin · 19/01/2023 22:18

I love Soap Daze soap, smells lovely, makes my skin feel good and lasts ages. I use the soap on a rope in the shower. It's vegan too, if that's your bag.

I always feel like a bar of soap leaves a mess on the glass is there any tips for this

FallonofDynasty · 19/01/2023 22:37

A soap from The Clovelly Soap company. Geranium Rose i think. Smells great and hasn't got that dried out cracked look that soaps can get.

SmuggleWuggle · 19/01/2023 23:21

Has anyone who uses L’Occitane Verbena noticed that the scent is much less than it used to be? I opened a new bar recently and can barely smell the verbena .. same with the last bar.

FurAndFeathers · 19/01/2023 23:30

Second TK maxx.

But if you just want a straightforward non-irritating non-drying, soap with a pleasant scent, imperial leather is excellent - proper soap (not like dove)

Maraki · 20/01/2023 05:16

Nesti Dante amorino, £3.45 from amazon. Smells so lovely and clean and doesn’t irritate my super sensitive skin.

i buy a few at a time and keep them tucked in with my scarves, they smell so lovely when I wear them!

A soap dish with holes in it.

mobear · 20/01/2023 06:10

Aesop Cleansing Slab, although I hate the shape, I wish they made a smaller version, but it smells divine.

borntobequiet · 20/01/2023 06:19

I use any supermarket “pure” unscented soap in the shower but when I’m abroad I buy supermarket soaps that cost very little and bring them home as hand soaps for the bathroom basin, they remind me of my holidays. Current one is a Pingo Doce milk and honey one from Portugal, it’s lovely, cost €0.80 or so.
Pears soap is no longer “soap”, BTW. It’s more of a detergent bar, contains SLS.

StarInTheHeavens · 20/01/2023 06:25

Coal tar soap, the smell is heavenly.Grin

ProperVexed · 20/01/2023 06:30

I love The Highlands Soap Company. The large soap bars are way too big in the hand so I cut them in half. They last for ages and smell wonderful.
The shop and cafe are lovely...if you're ever near Fort William.

Arran Aromatics - found them on holiday now but online in the sale Here

KangarooKenny · 20/01/2023 07:21

I ordered some French soaps recommended on MN during lockdown. I found them drying somehow, I don’t mean they dried my skin, they left a strange dry feeling to my skin that Dove doesn’t.

catfunk · 20/01/2023 07:29

Blue or green pears

Purpleavocado · 20/01/2023 08:37

If you use soap instead of shower gel, do you still use a puff or sponge, or just the bar? I'm so used to putting shower gel on a puff and having it be foamy.
