I have been looking the Gudrun Sjoden sale.

I just LOVE the pictures and I love the quality and I love the style

and it LOOKS AWFUL on me. So I am trying to resist.

Made me wonder though what brands do you all love that just doesn't work for you. Yet you keep looking at it lusting and wanting? as it's so gorgeous.

All those Scandi brands that look amazing on tall, slim women.

I am small and sturdy, I look like a pregnant peasant rather than an artistic type.

TwigsAndPebblyShit · 15/01/2023 20:27

Sea salt dresses. I look like I'm wearing a duvet cover with pockets

Menopants · 15/01/2023 20:29

Toast, love the idea of stomping around a seaweed strewn cliff top looking like cate blanchett playing TildA Swindon but the reality is I just look deranged and frumpy

Primroseprimula · 15/01/2023 20:30

Boden, makes me look like a grumpy toddler

user143677433 · 15/01/2023 20:32

Toast. I would happily spend thousands in Toast, and most of it really suits me, but I need one size bigger than their biggest size.

Lentilweaver · 15/01/2023 20:49

Cos. Makes me look pregnant.

atteatimeeverybodyagrees · 15/01/2023 20:50

Cos

JassyRadlett · 15/01/2023 20:51

Literally also just coming here to say Cos. Cos is not made for the broad-shouldered.

Tartifletti · 15/01/2023 21:11

Toast - love the look and whole concept, but the clothes are singularly wrong for me - I'm petite (hate the word but it's the easiest description) and need clothes to be neatly fitted at shoulders, waist and hips. If I grew 10 inches overnight and suddenly obtained wide, angular shoulders, their clothes would drape elegantly and I would be much poorer.

Stoic123 · 15/01/2023 21:12

Boden now. Used to love their stuff but everything I've tried to buy in the last 6-7 years has looked awful. Given up now (still like some of the mini stuff for nephew).

Actually, not sure I love the brand any longer - I just mourn the old brand.

Betsylee · 15/01/2023 21:32

Boden, just looks so dated on me, dont know why, must not buy anymore as it always goes back, looks lovely but not on me!

Enko · 15/01/2023 21:54

Interesting how many similar brands here so far :)

I have boden from years ago I love but not bought from them in ages.

Boden here too. Especially recent cuts and styles. The waistbands are cut so high I look like I’m trying to smuggle a toddler under my dress. And their jersey dresses nowadays seem to somehow inflate my bottom (not in a break the internet way). And that’s before we even get into the random backless, strapless and cutout frocks Boden is now so fond of. They’d look amazing on 23 year old me, but 23 year old me ( size 8, big crush on Jarvis Cocker, vibing in my mum’s old Micra) wouldn’t have been seen dead in whatever the equivalent of Boden ( I’m thinking Wallis) was then.

SaturdayGiraffe · 15/01/2023 22:06

Toast. The rich autumnal colours year round. Mustard is not my friend.

Laiste · 15/01/2023 22:33

Oh i thought it was going to be cosmetics!

The Lee Stafford hair range.

LOVE the smell but it does bugger all for my hair.

Vexxa · 15/01/2023 22:42

Emily and Fin. I love their entire range but it's all cut for much taller women (I'm 5'4".) The last few things I ordered all had to be sent back sadly.

They have changed the smell. Apparently it’s now disgusting!

Thighdentitycrisis · 16/01/2023 00:09

Cos. I have a few items that fit including men’s chinos but most doesn’t work

MistyRock · 16/01/2023 03:50

I went through a stage of liking Zara, it was the only shop near me that offered my size and was reasonably priced. Nothing ever looked good as that'd always ruin an item by adding weird sleeves, or stupid puffy shoulders etc. They had some really nice florals and nice colours just all ruined by extra 'touches'.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 16/01/2023 03:55

Toast and Seasalt
Waistlines in the wrong place always.
Too high on dresses- always looks empire line, rise on trousers never high enough.

Another one who formerly loved Boden, but not anymore.

StridTheKiller · 16/01/2023 06:39

COS and Allsaints.
As a short sturdy hourglass type Boden is more my style as i do matronly very well and firmly believe frumpy is underrated. I love a bit of frump.

SoggyBananaLoaf · 16/01/2023 06:45

Vivian of Holloway - I'm just too rectangular!

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 16/01/2023 06:49

COS

Pigtailsandall · 16/01/2023 09:50

Zara. I love lots of their designs, but they are all meant for 6ft tall people with no hips, not for hourglass size 14 women.
