Charlotte Tilbury - what's good?

fajitaaaa · 08/01/2023 09:28

Hi I got a voucher for Christmas and the Charlotte tilbury make up looks good. I have the airbrush powder and finishing spray - what else is good? Does the flawless filter work on scaring?

And is magic cream overhyped?

Magic cream is overhyped. Just like Nivea.

I don’t rate the setting spray or the primer or the illuminating powder. Won’t buy those again. Won’t buy the mascara either.

I do rate the cream bronzer, some of their lipsticks, the new foundation - name escapes me. It’s in the tube.

I love their cream eye shadows in pots. Last ages, just swipe and go.

I want to try the new eyeshadow, pop shots. Colours look lovely.

Mercurial123 · 08/01/2023 09:37

I like the lipsticks and another vote for the cream eyeshadow in pots.

fajitaaaa · 08/01/2023 09:41

Ah the eyes to mesmerise pots? They look good - nice and quick in the morning. Would you use a brush for them? Or your finger?

I'll give the magic cream a swerve then thanks :D

Lipsticks and the eyeliner sticks can’t remember the name

Yes, eyes to mesmerise and I use my fingers. I have a few shades but with the brown one, I use a small brush and use it as an eyeliner as well.

minticecreamisjustok · 08/01/2023 09:44

I like the magic cream not like Nivea at all, however if you shop online you can normally choose free samples of the cream. Flawless filter won't cover, just adds glow.

Motorcycleemptyness · 08/01/2023 09:45

I have a complicated relationship with the airbrush flawless foundation. It is very very heavy and if your skin is dry at all it clings to it. I also really don’t like the smell of it, it is very perfumed HOWEVER it does do what it says on the tin and in photographs it makes my skin look like I’ve got a filter on (but in a good way, not a weird alien way). It is quite expensive but you only need a small amount so a little goes a long way. Not sure if this is a recommendation or not!

Sparkletastic · 08/01/2023 09:48

Hollywood FF might not be kind to scarred skin although it is a subtle gleam. Her powder bronzer is excellent and the eyeshadow palettes I have are all excellent.

Nolosomi · 08/01/2023 09:48

I was given so CT stuff as a gift, was very excited to try the Magic Cream, but my god it’s rubbish. It does nothing at all and you are paying for the beautiful jar it comes in (still has a crappy plastic lid though), I use it on my décolletage as I won’t put it on my face. The 50 spf primer is amazing, I love it and will repurchase although it can’t really be used as an SPF as the tube is so small you’d use it up in a couple of weeks! I use it under my eyes and on my cheekbones to make it last. The pressed powder is seriously basic and chalky, I don’t even use it it just rolls around my makeup stash. I do use everyday the eyes to mesmerise eye colour, with a firm brush - it’s fab and I’ll never stop buying it. The highlighter in a tube is pretty good but I wouldn’t repurchase, but I don’t use it that much so will last me years.

fajitaaaa · 08/01/2023 09:48

Thanks all this is so helpful!

The only things worth it are the eye crayons and bronzer.
I do like flawless finish but everyone is doing cheaper versions now so i won't buy again.
Lipgloss horrible, blusher fell apart, eyebrow thing overpriced.

OceanbreezeSun · 08/01/2023 09:58

The flawless filter is good and makes your skin nice & glowy, but make up brand Elf do a dupe which is just as good and a lot cheaper!

Another vote for the cream eyeshadow pots - I have 2 which have lasted for ages & they go on really smooth.

I think the lipsticks and lip liners are overrated big time.

fajitaaaa · 08/01/2023 10:00

Ok so I've got an eyes to mesmerise in the cart. The matte ones have REALLY bad reviews though! So I've gone for shimmery.

I love the infamous pillow talk lipstick and liner. Also agree re the cream eyeshadow pots. I recently tried their mascara and brow brush and absolutely love both!

Nolosomi · 08/01/2023 10:02

@fajitaaaa what colour have you gone for? I use amber gold, it’s gorgeous

Apparently before CT developed her products, when working as a make up artist only, she used a self made moisturiser on her clients she called 'magic cream' it was a mix of nivea, glycerin and weleda marigold cream.

Revolution do a £10 dupe of magic cream.

Exaggereyes - looked quite neutral. Tricky decision though!

I really like the magic cream, the eye one especially, there’s a really good chemical type mask too that I’ve completely forgot what it’s called.

For the make up, I rate all the eyeshadows I’ve a pillow talk pallet, the eyes to mesmerise and just got some of the new pop shots and really rate them too. I use the flawless filter foundation, it is thick so depends what kind of coverage you like. The duo bronzer and highlighter is great and pillow talk blusher too. Lip liners and lipstick great too but not tried the gloss.

Nolosomi · 08/01/2023 10:08

Honestly the magic cream is dreadful. My pot was a gift but I still don’t use it. It’s so expensive for what is essentially a very basic product. But even if it was £10 I still would buy something else.

Nolosomi · 08/01/2023 10:10

@fajitaaaa that looks very nice! I haven’t seen that shade before, might have to try!

oceanbleu · 08/01/2023 10:14

I do really like the pillow talk lipstick and pencil. The pencil is my favourite lipliner. The lip stick is a little too matte for my liking so I use a balm over it.

Aworldofmyown · 08/01/2023 10:16

I like the colour chameleon eyeshadow pencil and the mascara is good.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 08/01/2023 10:25

I like the magic cream although it's overpriced imo. It works well under the airbrush flawless foundation to help with the fact it clings to dry skin. I use a damp beauty blender with the foundation too and that way it goes on sheer.

As a contact lens wearer I couldnt get on with her mascara or any eye crayons. Even when nowhere near the waterline the colour migrated until it was a film all over my lenses. I've only ever had that with CT products, I use all other eye pencils and mascara the same way with no problem. Eyes to mesmerise were fine, though.

Pillow talk is NOT A UNIVERSAL SHADE whatever they tell you.

The eyeshadow quads are quite well pigmented but the shimmer ones seem to go on patchy, even with a primer.

Hollywood flawless filter is excellent. But there are dupes ( by collection, elf) which are just as good.
