Do you wear make up when at home

If you have no plans to leave the house do you wear make up? Wear nice stuff? Everyday I'm just in comfy sweats and no make up but I always feel like rubbish. Equally though it seems a waste when I'm not going out

I do, but I don't use very expensive make up anyway (Boots No 7 generally) and I'm 58 with very pale skin and blonde features so I look totally washed out without any make up - especially in Winter.

YellowMonday · 31/12/2022 12:25

I always brush out and use gel to set my eyebrows. Other than that, no makeup.

I do tend to do my hair, even if it's just braids.

minticecreamisjustok · 31/12/2022 12:25

Yes I'll wear a little bit, makes me feel better even if it's just me and the mirror 😂
Who knows who might knock the door or I'll have to pop to shop.
Just basics, a lightweight foundation, gel brow and mascara, tinted lip balm.

ProceedWithOptimism · 31/12/2022 12:26

Yes, I do the same make up routine every day out of habit really. Once in a while I give my face the day off but not often! I like to fee 'ready' for the day.

bitfit · 31/12/2022 12:26

No, never. I do my hair though

Montague22 · 31/12/2022 12:28

No, I do my skin care routine every morning but don’t bother with make up.
If you feel better wear it though, it goes off anyway so just use it.

DachshundsThroughTheSnow · 31/12/2022 12:31

Always, unless I’m ill and I can’t physically do it- it makes me feel ‘dressed’ and ready for the day.

Claudia84 · 31/12/2022 12:34

I don't usually but when I'm feeling a bit 'urgh' I do my hair nicely and put a little bit of makeup on (curl eyelashes, tinted moisturiser, cream blusher and lip liner and balm) and I have to say it does make me feel a lot better.
In the new year I'm spending an extra ten minutes getting ready each day - as, for me, I like the idea of feeling like a look nicer. That can't be a bad thing!

Afterfire · 31/12/2022 12:36

Always. I don’t feel awake and ready for the day otherwise. I worked as a make up consultant for 15 years so it’s very much a part of who I am.

SalviaOfficinalis · 31/12/2022 12:37

No I don’t. Mainly because I hate the effort of removing it at the end of the day.

sorcerersapprentice · 31/12/2022 12:38

No. Can't be bothered with it and I think it's good for my skin to have a rest from it when I've got no plans to go out

roselune · 31/12/2022 12:40

Usually just eyebrows, a bit of blusher or bronzer and powder. I look so different without, like I have no facial features. Takes 2 minutes to put my face on 😆

SkylightSkylight · 31/12/2022 12:44

Nope, but then I don't wear make up out either 🤣

Floisme · 31/12/2022 12:45

No, unless I'm trying out a new lipstick and not used to the colour. But then I don't particularly enjoy make up and can barely be bothered to put any on when I'm going out. However, since the lockdowns I've worn some of my favourite clothes around the house. Depends on what you enjoy doing.

Pootle22 · 31/12/2022 12:45

Yes, I'm very pale and everyone treats me as though I might be ill if I don't.

Just a powder foundation, blush, mascara and tinted lipbalm. Takes minutes.

But then there is never a day that I don't leave the house.

Boxofsockss · 31/12/2022 12:45

I don’t and like you I feel rubbish about myself when I look like that but equally I can’t be bothered to do anything just to sit in the house. It seems like a waste of good make up, time and effort. Plus I dont really have the time to do things like that nowadays with having a baby anyway!

RampantIvy · 31/12/2022 12:47

No, never. I like to let my skin breathe, so I only wear make up if going out - work, shopping or out for the evening. I am fortuante enough to have good skin. I don't know if that is because I don't wear much make up and am meticulous about cleaning it off or just luck.

BreviloquentBastard · 31/12/2022 12:48

Just mascara and eyebrows when I'm not going anywhere, my brows and lashes are very blonde so I look a bit naked mole rat without some definition to them. Only time I don't bother is when we're having a proper pj day.

Slimjimtobe · 31/12/2022 12:50

I have semi permanent make up so I just put on mascara and bit of bronzer

ouch321 · 31/12/2022 12:50

No I don't like putting gunk on my face which it is effectively.

Always wear when going out as do not have good enough skin to be seen without it but if home alone then no as seems pointless.

Although I like make up as it makes me look nice, I do resent it and do think it's a v strange thing that we do applying goo to just our faces.

aSpanielintheworks · 31/12/2022 12:50

Always. It's as much a part of my routine as getting dressed is.
I don't wear much and it's always natural/nude but if I go without makeup people tell me I look ill.

maximist · 31/12/2022 12:53

No, but I only wear makeup very occasionally if I'm going out, and not always then. Even then I only do eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara and a bit of lippy, I'm too lazy to mess about for more than a couple of minutes. I'm 52, people get what they see and if they don't like it that's their problem!

Ijuststoodonlego · 31/12/2022 12:58

It's my bit of happiness as sad as that sounds, which is just for me and makes me feel better. So I won't leave house without my BB cream and basics like mascara. To stay in I may not bother depends how much energy I have. I prefer to put a bit of makeup on.

Leftoverpizzaforbreakfast · 31/12/2022 13:00

I don’t but I wish I did have the wherewithal to do so

Claudia84 · 31/12/2022 13:06

Slimjimtobe · 31/12/2022 12:50

Interested in this. I have powder brows and they really have made all the difference.
Have you had lip blush?
