Babyliss Big Hair?

MadameSapphire · 19/12/2022 19:15

So…have been meaning to get one of these for a couple of years(!) - hair is (about to be) bobbed so was looking to get the 42mm one, but can’t seem to get that model any more. Recommendations for what I might get, lovely peeps? TIA.

Another one here who swapped the BBH for the revlon one step and don’t regret it for all the reasons already mentioned - love using the revlon and afterwards finding that it isn’t covered in my hair.

QueueEtwo · 22/12/2022 15:54

Well I've used the Revlon one step today & I'm not impressed!

Maybe I need to watch some YouTube videos! 🤔

mincepiepie · 22/12/2022 20:19

Oh no @QueueEtwo! Why don't you like it?

Murasakispillowbook · 22/12/2022 20:21

I love my Big Hair. Gives me just enough "bouncy blow" without looking too done. It's ace!

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/12/2022 20:22

I love the babyliss, but it does pull hair a bit, so I just bought the one step.

bangragal · 22/12/2022 22:09

I just bought the smaller babyliss one, from Vinted though, so it wasn't too expensive. Definitely get more of a "bounce" with Babyliss.

Hi Mincepie, it didn't actually look that different to when I just dry it with the hairdryer - not blow drying it!

Is there any particular products you could recommend which might help?

mincepiepie · 23/12/2022 07:48

@QueueEtwo here's my routine for fine armpit length hair

I use a drop hair oil on wet hair and then I use either nothing of v05 blow dry spray or Kristen Ess mousse for a more voluminous look. I then section off the top of my hair, and then do the bottom section, pushing the one step into the roots from underneath and then rotate it round and pull it through. I actually do not think about it too much. I then do the middle section and then the top parting section and my fringe.

Great thank you!

I watched some videos yesterday so will give it another go later! Thank you 💐

mincepiepie · 23/12/2022 11:57

@QueueEtwo you are very welcome.

As you see I am no Beauty journalist!Confusedso I do hope it made a little sense!

Itsthewhitehat · 23/12/2022 12:02

I have the babyliss and the one revlon one step.

Prefer the one step. The babyliss pulls my hair too much and (as it’s quite fine) can cause some breakage.

chevvyroo · 23/12/2022 15:54

I've got both. The Revlon is quicker and easier to use, with no moving parts. The Babyliss takes a bit of getting used to but gives a much smother finish.

Elodie09 · 23/12/2022 16:00

I replaced my worn out Babylis with the Revlon one step due to posts on here. I absolutely hate it, it is so rubbish on my medium to fine hair bob, Really is useless.
So cross with the bloody thing and now I am going to have to buy a Babyliss for £50. That gives me an amazing swishy bob with good volume.

Goodbye Revlon one step.

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 23/12/2022 19:41

I'm on my fourth. I replace them whenever they die which is usually after about 2 years

Anjelika · 23/12/2022 20:00

I always used the BBH till I bought a Revlon One Step (off Vinted) and I have to say I prefer the Revlon. I am growing out a bob. For me the main advantage of the Revlon is that it can be used on wet hair whereas you have to part dry your hair before using the BBH.

LolaMoon · 23/12/2022 20:02

Ive tried both- far prefer big hair. The Revlon one doesnt rotate and it gets so incredibly hot, it almost burnt my hair

tobee · 23/12/2022 20:13

I've got both and usually use the big hair - which does give best big hair! But I find it doesn't last as long as I'd hope. I used the revlon one step for the first time in ages last night. It didn't give me much height but has stayed put and feels very smooth. So pros & cons

tobee · 23/12/2022 20:21

Rogue best in above!

purdypuma · 24/12/2022 09:32

I've had the Babyliss big hair in the past but I much prefer my Revlon one step as the Babyliss used to painfully tangle my hair due to the rotating brush.

mincepiepie · 24/12/2022 10:39

@QueueEtwo I'm going to try my Babyliss big hair again today. I've Watched some tutorials

You have inspired me!

QueueEtwo · 29/12/2022 21:58

Mincepie Great!

Honestly I'm still not really getting on with the Revlon - I appreciate that it drys my hair quite quickly but i still have to rough it first.

And then I still have to style it so it feels like abit of a pointless step!

I feel that if I just use the Revlon one step - I look like Gail Plstt 🤣

Great feedback here I was torn between two. My hair is dead straight below chin hair, will the big hair give me shape? It's just shape I am after. Had the Dyson and absolutely hated it.

Did you know that shark have brought out their version of the Dyson air wrap? It’s really good!

Goodbye Revlon one step.

I bought the revlon one step, twice! After recommendations on here and returned both times. It's just a hot brush, doesn't give the same volume as the babyliss. I thought I must be using it incorrectly, but no, it's just a hot brush. I really don't get the love.

user1497787065 · 30/12/2022 06:51

I've been using the BBH probably for ten or twelve years. It's the only thing that gives me anything like a salon blow dry on my thick wavy hair. I can only think those of you who suffer tangling around the brush are not sectioning it correctly.
