Babyliss Big Hair?

So…have been meaning to get one of these for a couple of years(!) - hair is (about to be) bobbed so was looking to get the 42mm one, but can’t seem to get that model any more. Recommendations for what I might get, lovely peeps? TIA.

I bought on in vinted for £10. I spent a few weeks looking for a good one and this was a spot on. Used once and obviously good condition.

However I don't love it like I love my revlon one step.

I'm pretty crap with hair though so it more likely me the being ham fisted. The revlon one step is fool proof.

Thanks @mincepiepie - interesting about the Revlon One Step… the first time I heard about the Revlon was today (on a post on here!). Do you think it would work for a bob?

Yes my dsis has a Bob and it works for her. Just the standard one not the small one.

Just gives a really smooth glossy finish and if I use mousse goes voluminous but I have VERY fine hair.

I've had mine over two years now.

Thank you @mincepiepie - any chance you could link to the Revlon one? Any other hot brush thoughts/recommendations, MNetters? Thanks! 😊

I have used a babyliss big hair for years.. about 10 years. However, I recently bought the one step and it’s much quicker and easier

I felt like I was getting me fecking hair ripped out at the roots, just hated it, used once,

Numbat2022 · 20/12/2022 07:18

I love my Big Hair when I had a bob, but it was a bit heavy and unwieldy.

lady725516 · 20/12/2022 07:22

I use the babyliss hot air styler and love it. Has made such a difference to my hair condition.

ElizabethBest · 20/12/2022 07:44

Another vote for revlon - I loooooove it!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/12/2022 07:49

I lost a lot of hair with the BigHair, love the Revlon one though.

lilyfire · 20/12/2022 07:54

Yes I’ve moved from the Big Hair to Revlon One Step as well. Easier and a better result.

DrAddisonForbesMontgomery · 20/12/2022 07:57

I bought one about 6 months ago and I can't use it. No idea if im doing it wrong but I've tried watching YouTube videos & it just doesn't seem to work for me.

Aren't you always cynical when something is 'used once'? I find it highly unlikely anything is used once and then sold. There seem to be an unfeasibly high number of things on sale that are apparently 'used once'

PurpleishDahlia · 20/12/2022 12:04

I love my big hair, bought the 42 last year and I wanted to buy it again as I travel a lot between 2 homes and it's quite big to pack every time. Like you said I couldn't find it any more, I got the 50 instead and I found it quite similar.

mincepiepie · 20/12/2022 15:33

Yes I am hence why I spent ages looking for one but hair stuff either works or doesn't.

It's still had some of the wrapping in part of and was immaculate when I received it. Also look at what else the seller I've got sale and the general Cleanliness of the environs so I'm pretty picky!

Aldi my Toni and guy barrel waver will be on there as used once as is just not right for my hair. Same as the hot I is sold. Some one got a bargain!

QueueEtwo · 20/12/2022 17:45

Thanks for the link Mincepie I've been eyeing up the Revlon one for ages so I've bought one! 🤣

I used the Babyliss for years. I tried the Revlon but found it very heavy and not as easy to use so I’m back to my Babyliss. Do others not find it heavy or am I just a weakling?

I find it heavy too. Am forever clunking myself on the head with it.
I also get way more volume with the babyliss big hair than the revlon

Happycow · 20/12/2022 23:26

I love the Big Hair - my hair is an inverted bob just below jawline.

The 42mm was perfect. The petite size (38mm?) is too small. The 50mm is a big big but , i just need to use the straightners to do the bits around my hairline at the back.

The revlon looks good but the big selling point of the big hair is the rotating brush!

QueueEtwo · 21/12/2022 23:30

My Revlon One step arrived today so hopefully can feedback tomorrow!

bangragal · 22/12/2022 01:07

I've tried both. Babyliss gives better hair probably because it rotates. Revlon doesn't rotate which means more effort on the part of the user - if you're lazy (like me) the result isn't quite as good, but still a lot better than using a hairdresser.

I also found Babyliss did remove more hair and having had a few of these (and now Revlon) Revlon has lasted longer.

bangragal · 22/12/2022 01:14

I didn't realize there was a smaller version of the Babyliss - I'm tempted to get that now to try it out on my fringe. Must stop coming on these board, I'm trying to save money!

I'm probably being a bit dense but is the Revlon One Step only a heated brush? For some reason I thought it rotated like the Babyliss Big Hair.

No, the Revlon doesn’t rotate. For this reason I find the Babyliss easier to use.
