Jones Road Miracle Balm - anyone tried it?

schmalex · 12/12/2022 17:49

It looks fab but I can't decide which colour to try. Has anyone tried it? Is it as good as I want it to be?

I am fairly pale but warm-toned with green eyes and dark balayaged hair.

I haven't seen a single good review from any of the many beauty YouTubers I follow. It doesn't set. It stays tacky so hair sticks to your face. It slides around during the day. It's just a really odd product. Maybe for uber dry skins?

onlyconnect · 13/12/2022 17:08

I bought it, used it once, didn't like it, told them and they've refunded me.

Coconut80 · 13/12/2022 19:44

So glad I've read this and your honest reviews. I was being bombarded by Ads on IG and as a woman in her fifties thought it was perfect for me. Always loved bobbi brown products. So glad I resisted a costly mistake it sounds awful

Thankyou for your honesty ladies xx

@Mercurial123

‘Why are you so bothered? It's an underwhelming product you disagree. It's not a big deal. Not sure what all the twee emojis are about’

I’m not! I promise 😂😂😂 I was just asking as I felt like I was reading there for a moment.

seahorsegrass · 13/12/2022 21:21

Elizabeth Arden 8hr does the same job, the lip tint colours especially the coral one change colour to a subtle sheen and it's £10 in a neat pop in your pocket job. I have several colours and use them as blush and lip tint.

Housewife2010 · 14/12/2022 06:22

What's a dragging site?

SequinShagger · 14/12/2022 12:06

I don’t know what a dragging site is , but I think I belong there 😂

Charlieiscool · 14/12/2022 13:25

I looked up what a dragging site is and no, I think Bobbi Brown is a brilliant woman who has marketed loads of great products over the years. Miracle Balm is not one of them though. It’s a truly revolting hyped up gimmick. The eye shadows and the lip/cheek stuff is good but miracle balm is terrible. In my opinion.

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 14/12/2022 18:18

I so LOVED Bobbi brown as she was an early pioneer of “love what you’ve got” and included a range of models in her materials. Ok low bar, but was great when I was younger to see that. All I know of Jones Road is this blusher thing, don’t know of any other products, and heard separately it’s by BB! Was shocked as I loved the Bobbi brown stuff.

Interesting that a pp mentions Elizabeth Arden, as have used that before and then found out that really is basically Vaseline!

So far, as someone with pretty bad skin, I like La Roche Posay and CeraVe skin products and some Chantecaille stuff. Would LOVE any recommendations of someone on Instagram who covers makeup and skin care for older ladies. Am mid 30s but skin is so so haggard! Always mistaken for someone older, which is fine, but I miss having any youthful glow!

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 14/12/2022 18:19

(Not sure what a dragging site is, but oh wow I have so many products I could legitimately drag… suppose it’s often horses for courses as we all have different needs/ preferences :) )

8 hour cream is mainly petrolatum with some extra mineral oil thrown in. It's fancy Vaseline. It works as an occlusive. It stop water leaving your skin like a plastic bag. At least miracle balm is natural oils so it actually moisturises. But I still don't rate it.

BigButtons · 14/12/2022 20:13

I have been tempted but the reviews are overwhelmingly negative and it’s very expensive.

Housewife2010 · 14/12/2022 22:27

Would the Dr Paw Paw balms be a dupe? They have natural ingredients, several shades, some shimmery ones and don't cost much. They have a set of 3 mini tubes in tk Maxx at the moment too.drpawpaw.com/collections/natural-tinted-lip-balms-skin-care?page=2

I think some people up thread think the Jones Road Balm is a lip balm. It’s actually a “foundation” with a balm texture. In theory it’s a nice idea for those of us with dry skin, but it’s just not a great formulation. The Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Founation is fab though. Really creamy and pigmented. I’d describe it as juicy.

Mercurial123 · 15/12/2022 04:17

This is an interesting review on their ingredients and the reviewer likes the balm.

Are you referring to the WTF foundation product? The Miracle Balm is more of a tinted lip and cheek balm. I wanted to love it but found it sticky and with not enough colour payoff to make the stickiness worthwhile. The WTF is like the original Bobbi Brown Extra Tinted Balm foundation.

That’s an interesting balanced read

CoffeandTiaMaria · 15/12/2022 05:42

I found it sticky and it made my face itch. The smell is unpleasant too. I binned it.

It's not a foundation. It's a balm for lips, cheeks and eyelids. Gawd it's so sticky I daren't think if anyone trying to use it as a foundation

There is a foundation - it’s called WTF (really!) and is extremely rich, but, yes, is a different product to the Miracle Balm being discussed here.

Lotsofpots · 15/12/2022 22:05

I love it - clearly I'm in the minority! I used the bronze shade all summer, now using dusky rose or whatever it's called. Both give me warmth and glow. I have a small pot of the flushed, which is a brilliant blusher for me.

I also have the foundation, which gives a great glow but feels very tacky on the skin for a while after application. I don't mind it but I can imagine others would be put off.

I also have some of their eye products and lip glosses. I rate them, the eye shimmer pots in particular.

Personally I don't see the overlap with Glossier. Similar aesthetic, but very different products.

Annoyingly I keep thinking about trying the Flushed and then talking myself out of it, seeing as I have the previous mini set and don’t get on with them - but I thought the Flushed looks like the colour might actually show up more?
