Help me find a very warm long coat on a budget

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 06/12/2022 22:27

Please!

I'm very short and size 16 and all of my coats are short. It's bloody freezing and I need a properly warm coat that's long enough to cover my backside sitting down so knee length or longer.

Ideally I don't want to spend more than £50 ish but can go a bit over and I'm happy to scour vinted and ebay for anything recommended.

Hi i got a knee length one from m&s it is really warm but not so chunky you feel restricted, it has a hood and think it is a sustainable brand, it was £69.

If you're looking at under £50 try Primark. They've got a lot of coats in at the moment. Not the greatest quality but not bad value for money.

I have this coat and it is long, light and warm

Ultravox · 06/12/2022 22:56

The warmest & most practical coats I’ve ever had are from LandsEnd. Not sexy but good quality, very warm and long!

There’s one on Vinted for £40 (usually about £150 new)

Try Trespass parkas?

stillvicarinatutu · 06/12/2022 22:58

Get on Vinted .

I just got the most beautiful wool/cashmere coat worn once - £18 .

Search is a pain but scroll through - you'll find something

Thank you these are great, what are regatta like? Seems a few on vinted plus we are near an outlet but are they warm enough?

I was just coming on to recommend long Regatta cost which is really warm and was very good value for the price.

DD has a long Regatta Fritha mentioned up thread. She finds it warm enough for London and very light. She actually has a more expensive Uniqlo down coat as well but prefers the Regatta.

I have this one from Dunnes in black (now out of stock in black though). It's brilliant. I live in NI where it's always rainy/windy/miserable and it's been a godsend.

TK Maxx

Have a look at ASOS, especially in their sale/outlet section. H&M and Primark are good. I saw a lovely full length puffa in Primark recently and it was £35. Vinted is also good and full of absolute bargains.

dawnfromgavinandstacey · 07/12/2022 20:01

I've just got this from peacocks. It is so warm.
The lady at the till gave me a ten pound discount as a voucher - no reason she said she was being kind.

Sorry it won't let me post a photo here is the link www.peacocks.co.uk/4302747-B01.html

Agree with this, I got a long puffy coat (almost identical to the M&S one above) from Primark last year for £30 and it's the warmest coat I own

NashvilleQueen · 07/12/2022 20:17

Can you hold on til the January sales? It's only a few weeks and you might get a better quality coat for your budget

IamEarthymama · 07/12/2022 20:52

I was in Asda today and they had black hooded pufffa coats for £45.

NorthernSoul55 · 07/12/2022 23:26

Another recommendation for Lands End. I've had 2 of their down filled parka style coats (weight loss) and they are lightweight so very comfortable to wear, not bulky but warm. They are above your budget new but there are often discount codes about, saw a 40% off recently, and I'm sure there'll be some on vinted.

userxx · 07/12/2022 23:29

I love a long duvet coat, the weather app was showing -1 earlier but I was toasty whilst out with the dog.

evtheria · 07/12/2022 23:32

If you can wait or find secondhand, Uniqlo offer good value down-filled puffers. I bought one that went to just above my knees, on sale for about £50, and a decade later it's still so warm!
