What trainers do teenage boys wear?

DS (14) a bit of of nerd (his words) and a bit of a country mouse. He understands that some clothing brands are more fashionable than others, but does not expect them. He appreciates his North Face waterproof though.

He's asked for "cool trainers" for Christmas, but doesn't really know what's cool.

And he has size 13 feet.

My ds wears Vans, but not sure if they’re cool or not, it’s just what he likes.

Any Air Force ones.

My son likes Nike Air.

My DS 15 and all his mates wear Nikes.

My 14 year old and all his friends wear Under Armour or Nike.

Surely a 14 year old would've expect his mum to purchase trainers? My dd is 12 and I wouldn't choose her trainers.

Unless he hs a specific type in mind anything Nike or Adidas will probably be fine.

Apparently New Balance trainers are in according to my DS 15.

Air force ones either all black (generally worn to school) or white with a blue or black tick or any colour variation he likes

But I would get him a JD voucher and let him choose his own.

Walk around the town where you live and check out what teens are wearing

I’d show him a few and ask if he recognises some as the ones others around him wear. I’ve worked in some schools where everyone wore Nike, and some where no one did and it’s just vans. My 15yr old nephew would only wear Jordan’s.

Nike. Air Force are the ones he usually wants. They're comfy on his massive feet, both hi top and low. Can't go wrong with black with white tick or the opposite. Or black with a metallic tick. Don't get coloured trainers because they don't go with everything.

Nike is the safest option imo.
My DS wears converse and adidas too but he is not particularly interested in being trendy.

He's not really sure what he wants. We're pretty rural, the buses are rubbish Post lockdown, so he never goes into town- not that our nearest towns have much left in them.

@cookiecreammmpie he's had Vans in the past, but they are too wide for his narrow feet.

My husband has bought Dd12 Air Jordans for Christmas. She wanted white with a blue tick. He's got her red blue white black. I think they look like clown shoes 😬😬

I think OP would have mentioned if her son had the type of significant health condition that meant he had junior size 13 feet at 14 years old
