Flannels advent is 45% off - from £235 to £119

NewsnightThumbs · 18/11/2022 21:59

Wow — I truly truly don’t need it but the Flannels one at that price is a bit of a steal really.

Ohdear7 · 18/11/2022 22:31

If I hadn’t already got mine, I’d have been very tempted by Flannels. Bit annoyed at myself for not waiting this year!

diamondsandrose · 18/11/2022 23:38

Tempted by Flannels and Elle is down to £112 which is good

diamondsandrose · 18/11/2022 23:38

Just shows how marked up they were originally that they will presumably still make a decent profit !

frogface69 · 19/11/2022 00:22

I have just had a look at an unboxing of the Flannels calendar and it's better than I initially thought. Postage is steep though.
I don't know what to do. At least with feelunique I know everything suited me and I could gift the eyeshadow palette. It's lovely but I don't wear eyeshadow every day.

rosiebl · 19/11/2022 00:57

I've been dithering so much this year. Partly because I got 2 last year (JL loved it) and NAP (still haven't opened all the doors, think I need to sell the remaining contents)
But I see Jl is reduced to £152.15 plus a further 5% for John Lewis cardholders (code MYJL5OFF02) and it takes it to £144.54 which is SO tempting.
Also tempted by River Island at £35 and H&B at £35 too.
Eeek

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 19/11/2022 02:13

One thing I’d like to know is genuine shelf life of unopened products. Any idea? The selling of last year’s calendars makes me think it’s much longer than we are often suggested to believe, in which case, stock up on the advents and don’t bother for the next year or two or more.

Stokey · 19/11/2022 07:39

@MyOtherCarIsAHearse Most of the products say 9-12 months in them but assume that is after opening. I've still got a couple of unopened ones from last year that I'm planning on using.

That Flannels one is a real bargain as is JL at that price. I would expect to see Liberty's go down too - it's clear not many people want to spend £200+ this year.

I've got 2 now after thinking I wouldn't buy any so am sitting on my hands!

RosettaStormer · 19/11/2022 07:40

This is what I have been wondering. Unopened products should last years I assume? I have an obscene stockpile now which will see me right for literally years.

If I sell some of it, not sure if eBay or Vinted is best, or how to calculate postage.

Stokey · 19/11/2022 07:42

Think Vinted has set postage which customer pays so a bit easier. I've given a couple of bits to friends in the past. I'm not too bothered about selling as know I've got the value I paid in what I've kept.

doublecleansed · 19/11/2022 07:54

I wasn’t going to get one this year but have just gone for Flannels! I like that it’s got quite a bit of make-up - feels a bit more random/a treat of things I would like to try but might not normally splash out on - e.g Pat McGrath palette. Also it’s got a full size Medik8 retinol, which I was going to buy soon anyway. Now going to try and forget what’s in it before December!

I’ve given some to friends, sold on Vinted and also swapped with people on here on the post-Christmas swap threads!

KimmySchmitt · 19/11/2022 08:44

Oh dear, this thread is absolutely dangerous. I'd been looking at Sephora so was disappointed to hear it had sold out, so in my head that justified getting Flannels at the discounted price... I now have 3, after saying I might not get any this year. I am officially done (unless there are any more ridiculous discounts I suppose!). Considering just opening one as a beauty box, maybe Flannels as lots of the sparkly make-up would be good for the December. In my defence I feel it nicely complements the more practical LiB and H&B, and what a discount.

TheDuchessOfMN · 19/11/2022 08:52

We are really missing out @OchonAgusOchonOh and whoever else is in Ireland. I tried to buy Flannels, but unfortunately it won’t deliver to here either.

I know I bought it too. Woke up feeling sick. It’s my third. I wouldn’t r have bought any but for this thread. I watching the unboxing and was smitten.

Solscat · 19/11/2022 09:50

I couldn't resist flannels at that price either!! The two mascaras alone are over £50. Add on the eye serum and you're already over £100 (I wear mascara every day and love an eye cream).

Like someone else said, it felt like quite a 'fun' one to compliment the more practical LiB calendar that I bought previously (with the £20 discount and free summer box). That said there's actually quite a lot I'm excited about in LiB too.

Hoping Harrods sells out now and isn't reduced 😂

I know. And pre-brexit we could use parcel motel or address pal. Address Pal is still there but the seller needs to provide documentation for customs so only really am option with personal sellers.

Fleecy · 19/11/2022 10:12

I also bought Flannels last night. Already have Liberty (with beauty drop credit) and M&S. Will do one in December, one in January and maybe keep one or maybe just open it. We will see. NO MORE!

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 19/11/2022 10:18

Ha! I won’t admit how many I have at this point but it’s absolutely worth it to me. I’m going to regift some items, sell some items, and also stick myself on a no-spend for the entire year to make some use of this stuff. When you sit and work it out, the reduced calendars e.g. Flannels will save a fortune if you are usually a regular beauty buyer.

Housewife2010 · 19/11/2022 10:22

I've just succumbed to Flannels. It's £126 as postage is high. Same price if you pick it up in the store too. I'm going to sell the items I have or don't want to make it good value for the products I really want. Temptalia's review of the Pat McGrath palette swayed me. www.temptalia.com/product/pat-mcgrath-celestial-divinity-luxe-eyeshadow-quad/interstellar-icon/

FluffyFluffMonster · 19/11/2022 10:47

Another flannels buyer!!! It is my first one though (excluding a chocolate and Lego advent 🙀)
That price is such a bargain!!

ajandjjmum · 19/11/2022 11:32

I just have M & S at the moment, but do have my credit with Liberty, so if that is reduced, I may buy that one too.

In the meantime, I need to get some stuff from either Cult or Look Fantastic, and don't want to spend a fortune only to find there's a GWP a week later. Does anyone know if anything is likely to be coming along?

doublecleansed · 19/11/2022 11:51

@ajandjjmum Cult Beauty only recently had a GWP, so don't think there will be another one imminent (though you never know!). But there's a tonne of Black Friday discounts on there at the moment - most stuff 20% off, some stuff 30%.

Buying beauty is stressful these days though, isn't it? It always feels like some better offer might come around just after you've bought stuff. I caved and used some of my Liberty credit the other day...now hoping there won't be a GWP!

Definitely stressful. I seem to play along for a bit and then the annoyance of it becomes more than the worth for me and I’m like ‘fuck it’ and just remove myself from the situation. I feel like this about SpaceNK. I’ve been deluxe tier N-Dulge for a few years, so clearly spend a load with them, and I think following the whole ‘there’s a million calendars but I will be loyal here’ type fiasco that resulted in their huge discount, my response was just ‘can’t be assed anymore.’

That’s not to say I blame them. They have no obligation to not drop the price. But I also have the right to stop shopping there. As it is, I’ve now got enough to keep me going for bloody years based on the discounted advents. So, they’ve all lost out.

I reckon many brands and retailers will struggle next year off the back of this.
