WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, week four, 2008, all welcome

After my embarrassing excesses on the last thread I promise to do better. Welcome to week 4 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

It's all a bit tumbleweed here isn't it! I went to bed straight after dinner last night with a screaming headache and left children and animals to DH to sort out. Hence my absence.

Happy birthday Bama! Sounds like a lovely day.

Sorry you had a crap time at school batters. Hope things improve today - certainly the weather is better. And it's Friday, so hurrah for that.

I did 11000 steps yesterday, sunscreen, handcream & v. early night! Ate loads of fruit through the day, ham salad for lunch and lasagne for dinner. Lots of water and hot honey & lemon in lieu of coffee because I have a sort throat and a bit of a cold.

Happy today because my headaches gone and the sun is out!

More later...

unknownrebelbang · 01/02/2008 19:46

Happy birthday Bama.

It's a horrible feeling isn't it Batters. DS1 was 25 minutes late coming out of school from table tennis on Wednesday, and I could feel the panic slowing creeping in as I sat in the car waiting, wondering where on earth he was - of course in his case, he just hadn't realised the time .

Hope that cold disappears quickly duchess.

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze
  • 30 mins on the ex bike.
  • Plenty of weak tea and water
  • Apply body cream, no.
  • Use hand cream/foot cream, no.
  • Go to bed early, well I went at 9pm, just to ensure DS2 got to sleep, only I got up an hour later wide awake, lol.
  • Eat healthily, hmm, somebody bought a tin of chocolates in today, and I couldn't resist - having not had any chocolate since the weekend . I just know I will succumb to supper tonight too.
  • Be happy, yay, it's the weekend, DH working again which isn't so good, lol. Just hope the weather makes its mind up - it has to either clear up, or be so thick of snow we can't go anywhere iykwim.

Happy weekend everyone.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 01/02/2008 20:24

batters - well done on a chocolate-free week.

Headache is coming back and cold getting worse. Everytime I go out the cold air burns my throat. So another early night for me.

Lotions & potions tick, water tick, walked 12000 steps.

I've eaten an orange for breakfast, seafood sandwich for lunch, fish & chips for dinner. Interspersed with lots hot honey & lemon. (Waitrose have 2 new organic squeezy honeys - Italian Acacia or Mexican Wild Flower, I have been sampling both all day. V Nice!).

Hope you're enjoying your Friday evenings. Wherever you are???!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 01/02/2008 20:26

Not batters but unknown! Sorry. Head hurts. Must sleep.

egg sandwich
apple
Big Mac and fries
Singapore noodles
duck and pancakes hoisin etc
wine

fell asleep on sofa in front of a film at 10.30

On Thursday night I fell asleep at 8pm with dd so at least had an early night (and no supper) and I ws up at 5.30am yesterday to start and finish early so no wonder I was knackered.

well done everyone who's been good
I'm not fit to lead this thread blah blah but I am feeling happy atm, it's been a challenging but satisfying week iykwim.

Bit of wine last night, walking variable - good some days, not enough on others, am keeping up with the Flexitol, body cream and water, healthy lunch every day, must stop snacking in the early evening and skipping breakfast though
Have been faithfully if sheepishly filling in my spreadsheet and it provides me with incontrovertible evidence that I must do better
Happy weekend one and all - I like the salads at M & S sobernow, the orzo with mi-cuit tomatoes one is lovely too - and the lentil and smoked aubergine one.
After dashing hither and thither last weekend, haircuts is as exciting as it gets today

unknownrebelbang · 02/02/2008 09:47

I'm trying to decide whether to walk the lads to karate, or to get the car out.

We've had a teeny bit of snow, so it's slippy either way.

Happy weekend all of you - snow or not

LoveAndSqualor · 02/02/2008 13:22

Hello all, happy birthday for yesterday bama! Excellent work on the make-up. I LOVE new make-up. In fact, you've reminded me that I need to but new mascara as mine has nearly run out (I use the Benefit Bad Gal one - it's fantastic). Sobernow, I love those M&S wraps - and well done on the weight-loss too ...

On computer at my mum's, watching the snow coming down outside (she lives in darkest Northumberland, and by heck, it's cold - especially for one who's declimatised after well over a decade down south). Weather means chances for exercise are limited (we went for a very short walk, but it is just tooooo freezing), so am snuggled up inside with fire and newspapers, listening to mother's running commentary ("I'm just going to do the ironing, ooh but how about a cup of tea first, would you like some tea? And then I'll do the potatoes for tonight ..." And so it goes).

Foodwise, infinitely improved now no longer at my dad's (did I mention we had sausage, beans and chips for dinner on thursday night? And that the chips were fried ? Like goingn back in time (to a tastier, if less healthy era)). Soup and bread last night, fruit and fibre this morning and a boiled egg (no toast). Cup of coffee mid-morning, and Mum has just made sandwiches for lunch (don't know what's in them yet).

Hope everyone's having great saturdays, and enjoying the snow if you have it too ...

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 02/02/2008 14:47

We all have colds and the DCs are being brattish. Mess everywhere, howling everytime they're told off. DH has sent DS1 & DD2 up for a nap before we both do something we wouldn't regret.

L&S - sounds very cosy at your mums! Mmmm at real fried chips though.

sobernow - back to pre-Christmas weight is excellent and now you can work on the last stone. If you really neet to, that is.

marina - liked your Marie Celeste quote on the bed thread the other day.

I struggled out to the farmers market this morning for worthy and healthy provisions. It is freezing cold here but we don't have any snow, just sunshine. Will muck out later for exercise although not sure where energy will come from.

Toast & marmite for breakfast, cream cheese & cucumber sandwiches for lunch. No idea about dinner. No coffee. One glass of water, 2 of lucozade and about 4 honey & lemons. Might have a quick nap, still very tired!

unknownrebelbang · 03/02/2008 17:02

Good afternoon everyone.

Have lost two pounds, so quite happy as that takes me into the next stone iykwim, lol. Have had various positive comments made this last week, so the exercise must be making a difference. Of course, they're comments about my shoulders (broad but ok) and my backside (quite neat considering the midriff, lol).

I feel shattered, but good, about walking where possible. Walked over two hours in total yesterday, and about 45 minutes today, just to and from the boys' activities, and even better the lads haven't complained too much!

Alas, I also have a cold, so once I've collected DS2 and done tea, I plan an early night watching TV in bed, no doubt joined for a while by DS2 and DS3, hehe.

MrsPhilipGlenister · 03/02/2008 17:06

Hi everyone! Sorry not been on here, have started new job and v v busy, also not m'netting from work now as have turned over new leaf! (How long will it last, though?)

Anyway, I have been super-good, although not walking much, but on the eating front I have been very healthy. My new size 10 skirt and trousers that I bought for new job are a bit big on me now!

I have carted in all my files etc to new job so this week I can start back on the walking trail again. My resolution is to eat breakfast as I have been skipping it and then being past eating by the time it gets to lunchtime, so not eating until about 4 p.m. in the day which is too late really.

Also managed four nights off the booze last week which is brilliant for me!

And guess who's back on the telly this week !

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2008 20:13

I will start a new thread shortly although first of all I will confess to toast and butter, a bacon sandwich, noodles, prawns, beansprouts and pralines and cream ice cream in front of Primeval recorded from last night.

Went to bed at 10.30 last night, have turned into a wimp. Actually, I think the week wipes me out so much I collapse at the weekend.
