WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, week four, 2008, all welcome

WideWebWitch · 28/01/2008 11:20

After my embarrassing excesses on the last thread I promise to do better. Welcome to week 4 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

just popping in before my early night. Loving the names Kit and Archie - the baby tally has gone up to 10 (12 including the Duchess and L&S) so the pressure to procreate is on. Needless to say we still can't decide if we want another although I think we're leaning towards the idea, time is ticking after all... Well, as noone asked to hear about my reproductive planning I will move swiftly on.

Bundle - is your hair straight? I suppose it must be for very short hair. I've always quite fancied going really short but as I have a mass of ginger frizz I suspect it would look crap.

Sobernow, the veggie bake sounds lovely.

Lots of water and fruit for me today and managed to hold off on the treats. Haven't done any OU work though so now I have something new to feel guilty about!

Right, going to turn in shortly and try not to get sucked in by the MN vortex.

bundle · 29/01/2008 10:39

no bamamama, not really straight, more wavy than curly though. front sort of sweeps across from one side. back is the kinkiest, iykwim! i have to have lots of it thinned out, as hair v thick and quite coarse

FooFooTheSnoo · 29/01/2008 10:50

I have been useless on the bootcamp front (curry and red wine anyone?) but have good news to report on the relationship front.

Somehow, we seem to have got back on track over the weekend. I think it may have been the counsellor on Friday night who managed to unite us in loathing her! Anyway we have done loads of talking, had some time alone this weekend thanks to wonderful friends, and miraculously seem to have rediscovered that spark which seemed to have gone awol for most of the last year. We are both committed to trying to make it work and things are good, better than good, amazing really. A long way to go but I feel this may have been one of those make or break moments when we both looked over the edge of the cliff but realised just what we had to lose.

Thanks to all of you for thinking about me. I haven?t read the thread properly as am at work but will come back later.

PollyDolly · 29/01/2008 10:57

Foo that's great news! Well done to you and DH. I really hope that things stay on the up for you both.

Am also just looking in as kids downstairs with a baby sitter while i do my tax return. I can't work out the stupid formula (add box 29.17 to box 13.2, then take half of box 18.4 and subtract it from Thursday or some such) so will have to make up the amounts. I'm going to go and be productive . Back later.

Hope all are having a good day.

marina · 29/01/2008 11:05

Oh that is marvellous news Foo, so happy for both of you.
I think you are entitled to run amok bootcamp-wise in the circs, hurrah

FooFooTheSnoo · 29/01/2008 11:35

Marina I have been cavorting with a croissant this morning. I feel really happy, oddly as I know we still have a lot to work out. But we have had such a nice time this weekedn

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 29/01/2008 11:54

That's great to hear Foo. And cavorting with a croissant sounds nice.

I am fuelling my carrot addiction as Ocado have just delivered - this weeks freebie is a small tub of HD Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream - and none of the DCs like chocolate ice cream, so I guess it's mine for the taking...!

DH doesn't like Adrian. I don't think he likes Archie either but he doesn't have any better ideas so he may have to lump it!

Fantastic news Foofoo.

Why an emergency haircut Bundle?

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze
  • Walked home from school - 2 miles,
plus about 45 mins on the ex bike.
  • Lots of weak tea
  • Apply body cream, a bit.
  • Use hand cream/foot cream, yy
  • Go to bed early, 11ish last night.
  • Eat healthily, good day today.
  • Be happy, overall yes.

We saw the Head this morning, although screechy mum didn't, not sure why. Of course all the children are playing happily together again now.

DS2 is a happy bunny - he's got a replacement cello tonight so he's all set for the concert next Tuesday (and a LOT of practise in the meantime).

Really enjoyed walking home with DS3 again.

DH's back is a lot better. He's not a whinger so when he was in so much pain last week we thought it was serious, but a couple of days later it started to ease, and as long as he's careful, he seems ok.

And the bit that saved my sanity today was emails flying to and fro another mum friend about the playground incident. Very therapeutic, lol. (and not nasty either!!)

WideWebWitch · 29/01/2008 21:06

Cavorting with a croissant is entirely appropriate, what lovely news Foo!

I like Kit, it screams glamorous Jilly Cooper hero (sure there was one called Kit) to me, and I know one who is a pilot. Isn't it short for Christopher? And I like Archie too. My cousin has a "Stan and it's not ironic, ok?"

lol at tax return pollydolly

Batter, was posting from my bed acksherly! But all that lurve and sleep in the day meant I had a RUBBISH nights sleep last night and feel terrible today. No booze though last night or tonight, of course, as I am being kind to my liver and everything else. Well, sort of, not a great day:

2 pieces wholemeal toast, Marmite
houmous sandwich
apple and sultana bar, 100cal
banana
bacon and cheese croissant at Euston
chip sandwich
sausage
not enough water

unknown, ew at mother screeching, how horrible.

L&S, Moonpig.com is good and you can set reminders. Interflora does reminders too although you don't have to buy anything.

Bundle, that haircut sounds fab!
oops
off to bed now though

bundle · 29/01/2008 22:07

sometimes i have this urge to get my hair cut quite radically, and I have to do it straight away

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 29/01/2008 22:10

I am incredibly tired so just off to bed, exercise today was minimal, water about 1L, not enough hand cream. Everything else OK.

I've eaten toast & marmite, coconut cake, apple, raisins, veg soup, melon, pizza (not very much but I really couldn't be bothered to cook), yoghurt. 2 coffees. Apple juice.

Will read thread properly tomorrow. Zzzzzzzz.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 29/01/2008 22:11

That looks as if the thread is sending me to sleep...

bamamama · 29/01/2008 22:52

Morning all! (y'know I'll be pleased to be back in the UK and posting at the 'right' time of day iyswim)

Foo - great news, I'm really pleased for you.

Bundle - seeing as your a profile kind of gal can we have a pic of your new haircut please?

Duchess - how can your children not like chocolate ice cream, how handy?!

www- one of my ds's middle names is Stanley. It was going to be his 1st name originally but dh just wasn't having it. I love it as a name and as ds does a very passible impression of Stan Laurel when he's tired it would have fit!

Right, got to do some work, off for a brow wax this morning, tamed brows go so far to counteract frizzy hair. Then it's off for a bike ride round the lake. Its going to be 34 degrees here today so off to fill up my water bottles.

bundle · 29/01/2008 23:00

bnana just took one with my pc (new toy) but can't seem to upload it. will try another way later, x

L&S - I like Kit too, are you going formal with Christopher on the birth certificate or is it Kit all the way?! (PS. Don't look at the baby name threads, people keep regaling me with stories of children who have 'Danger' as their middle name. DH thinks that's hilarious but I've stamped on it).

WOW! @ bundles good food and 60s model hair. Any fat in the Roquefort is balanced out because the calcium is so good for you...

bama - sorry I'm no longer up late enough to reply. When are you coming back?

www - hope you feel brighter today

unknown - glad the playground incident is 'old news' (at least as far as kids are concerned) and another cello! Hurrah!

batters - hope your skin continues to get better. You're using Eve Lom aren't you? Is there a very rich eye cream for rapidly developing crows-feet?? I caught sight of myself in full sunlight sans make-up this morning. Not good!

I've done 14000 steps already and still have ponies/chickens etc to do. Lots of water today and sunscreen and handcream and had an early night and I did put flexitol on despite exhaustion.

I've eaten toast & marmite x 2, apple juice, dried apricots, seafood sandwich, apple, shortbread biscuit, carrot, Twirl and having salmon fillet, new potatoes & salad for dinner.

PollyDolly · 30/01/2008 19:22

Another quickie from me - haven't read yet but will catch up tomorrow. DD2 very unsettled but (thankfully) no major injuries today. DD1 in bed and nearly asleep. Am off for a glass of wine as it's been a pants day. WWW, my colleagues aren't all tossers but are coming a close second.

Did I mention going to a spa in Newcastle at the weekend? Am really looking forward to it. My Moron will be at the ready. ONly managed 7000 steps yesterday, but it's about 6000 more than if i'd taken car.every little helps.

See you shortly

unknownrebelbang · 30/01/2008 21:22

Evenin' all.

Quick visit tonight. Wednesday's are often chaotic.

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze
  • about 40 mins on the ex bike.
  • Lots of weak tea
  • Apply body cream, a bit.
  • Use hand cream/foot cream, yy
  • Go to bed early, 10ish last night!!!
  • Eat healthily, yes - three good days in a row. Quite proud that I resisted choc/sweets whilst waiting for the lads at karate tonight.
  • Be happy - reasonable day today. Had a giggle at Beavers and Karate, always good for the soul.

hello all. Just a brief one from me, not much to report.

Duchess - we're back in August which is looming scarily close. Must get on with travelling a bit more, one trip to Syndney and the coast doesn't quite cut it.
I too saw the 'danger is my middle name' thread - have to say I'm quite taken with the idea...

Bundle - where is this pic of your sparkly new hair

Managed to hold off on the mid-week wine last night but only due to spectacular storm impeding my progress to the shops. Would be truly being struck by lightening due to a need for a glass of wine.

Already had my 2l of water today, off for a walk when ds wakes up.

Polly - hope you enjoy your spa day.

Am very at all this talk of M&S food...

Hello! dashing in and out as I'm currently up north at my dad's and his internet connection is completely buggered (hope I get to post this before it crashes out again) - will check in properly when I get to mum's tomorrow, but wanted to say v quickly

a) delighted that you all seem to like Kit! we're still discussing whether we want him to be christopher on the birth certificate; there are pros and cons, I think ...

b) much more importantly, Foo, I am so glad things seem to be back on track. Delighted for you. Hope you're both taking it easy. Thinking of you.

ooh and c) it's snowing in Newcastle! A little bit anyway ... My mum lives right up by the scottish borders, so hoping to see more tomorrow ...

Drawing a veil over food consumption - it's fruitless (pun v much intended) to try to eat healthily in dad's house. Steady diet of chocolate, dips, crisps, and assorted other crap since I arrived. Enjoyably awful

OK, posting before the gremlins chew through the wires again ... Have great thursdays! (oooh - it being thursday - only seven weeks till my due date. where is the panic emoticon? )

unknownrebelbang · 31/01/2008 19:30

Hello everyone.

Hope you had a better day today pollydolly.

I love the name so much, we named DS1 Christopher.

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze
  • About an hour on the ex bike.
  • Not quite as much weak tea as usual.
  • Apply body cream, no.
  • Use hand cream/foot cream, no.
  • Go to bed early, Stupid O'Clock last night.
  • Eat healthily, good day today, especially considering I was at home most of the day.
  • Be happy, yes.

Took the chance to skive today as the electricity at the boys' school went off this morning (I had to collect them before lunch). Had an hour or so with DS2 lounging around in bed, just to try to get him to relax a bit, he was thrilled to be off school, but he's very tired. DS3, bless him, just played with some lego.

bamamama · 01/02/2008 09:24

Hello all - my its quiet around here....

Well, it's my birthday today and I've had a lovely day - so high on happiness. Exercise class this morning then a lovely lunch out with DH followed by a little light shopping before picking up ds from nursery. I promised myself I was going to replace the contents of my make-up bag but after a prescriptives powder and nars eyeshadow and lippie came to $200 I thought I'd better call it a day. DH keeps looking at the 3 very small packages and querying just how much is costs to make me look like a man in drag...
Anyhoo, dh is out to pick up takeaway and I have a small bottle of fizz on the go. Enjoy your countdown to the weekend everyone!
