So got home tonight and once again all the rest of my make up looks fine, but underneath my eyes its a mess - why what am I doing wrong?

i'd take a picture, but i have already washed my face

I have the same problem. Lancôme mascaras are the only ones I've found that don't smudge. Just the ordinary ones, not waterproof.

MakeMineALarge1 · 21/10/2022 07:55

I am throwing away my mascara's this morning
I am keeping the clinique and clarins ones as they are mini ones, I have a boots one, its in red packaging but it was a christmas special, so need to look at the name for it
will look out for the others though, thank you
and I have some hourglass powder for under my eyes

The red one has been re branded , they'll tell you what it is now, I think it's Intense something or other.

I use revolution baking powder under and on my eyes and a tubing mascara (the loreal red and white one). Don't get flakes of it coming off like pp said and I still get the odd tiny smudge, but it's the best result I've had for ages in terms of smudging.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Blinc, they were the original tubing mascara. Game changer.

I liked that the mascara itself came in a metal tube instead of a box- see why they did there? Grin

I don't get it?! And don't máscaras always come in a tube?

DiorForBreakfast · 21/10/2022 08:38

This started happening to me. I looked into it, and have found that tubing mascaras work best for me. Estée Lauder Double Wear mascara is my favourite now, but there are tons, at every price point. You can even use it over the top of your normal (smudger) mascara, and it sort of coats it, and stops the smudging. Good luck!

FinallyHere · 21/10/2022 08:49

What look are you going for? Would dying the lashes work for you instead, or are you building up coats of mascara for thickness ?

HaveringWavering · 21/10/2022 09:21

@SavingsThreads you know how a more expensive mascara will be inside a cardboard box when you first buy it?

The whole Blinc mascara brush-in-a-tube came inside another metal tube with a screw top, think like a Berocca tin.

I’ve found that Hourglass mascaras are really resilient and don’t end up under my eyes. They cost more but really do last for ages.

This is my favourite. 15% off first order.

Another vote for this. Get a tubing mascara. It changes everything.

Oh i see! What's the pun with that?

SavingsThreads · 21/10/2022 09:24

Oh never mind. A tube. God I'm slow this morning

Yes dying them would work, need to get an appointment in to have it done, but in the meantime, I need a mascara that doesn't smudge

Tubing mascara. Clinique and No.7 both do good ones. Only thing that ever worked for my panda eyes.

Same for me. I use the Clinique one. It's the only one that doesn't run at all.

MakeMineALarge1 · 21/10/2022 17:57

I have today got the boots stay perfect mascara.
So I'm hoping that and powder underneath will solve the issue.

I've ordered the Tarte tubing mascara , I don't wear make-up at work but I do need to make a bit of an effort at times .

NancyVicious · 21/10/2022 18:30

Boots natural collection waterproof. Costs under £3. Smashes all the expensive mascaras I've had for staying out day to day

randomusername02 · 21/10/2022 18:39

I use the maybelline mascara that is tubing and still get this, I think its cos I've got an oily face, and don't think anything will change it. I dont want to put powder under my eyes because it just settles into the fine lines there. Only work around I have found is using fake lashes, I bought the one the glue under as these last a week and are much easier to apply.

Tassen · 21/10/2022 18:50

Nars Climax Mascara didn't even smudge after a massive weep after I'd had some really bad news.

Might be a daft question but do you use Setting Spray to set your make up?
If you mist it over your eye area it can make mascara smudge - even happened with my Nars so I just make sure that I miss the eye area out now.

RedDwarfGarbagePod · 21/10/2022 19:04

I use Nars Climax and it's one of my worst offenders!

The best mascara I've found for NOT doing it is a L'Oreal one - gold tube; something to do with millions? - and my other favourite is the silver Soap & Glory one. Nars Climax and Too Faced Better Than Sex have both sadly been... well, an anticlimax, frankly...

Becclescake · 21/10/2022 19:10

I used to get that problem on my upper lids, and resolved it by switching to waterproof mascara. I've used the 'tubing' kind too and they last until you take them off Smile

HanSB · 21/10/2022 20:41

Bobbi Brown No Smudge mascara, it really does work and it's the only one I have found in years of searching to work for me. I have really dry skin too so I have no idea why I always have this problem. The BB mascara is a very natural look though, it's not a big volume or length mascara. I use false eyelashes if I need more oomph!

Dingalingo · 21/10/2022 20:49

Tubing mascara. I swear by kevyn au coin. Can’t wear any non tubing as look like a panda within an hour. It’s natural oils with me nothing to do with what I’m using as skincare.

Fandangoes · 21/10/2022 20:54

This used to happen to me with every mascara I tried until I found an ester Lauder one - can’t remember the name but it’s a navy tube with a gold lid

GordonShakespearedoesChristmas · 21/10/2022 21:42

This mascara is fabulous and really cheap! I def recommend it

Bugger. Wish I knew what tubing mascara was before ordering my Dior Pump n Volume one. It didn’t smudge too much, but tubing mascara sounds fab.
