What on earth is tubing mascara?

I must have hooded eyes as mine smudges above my eyes, not below

Auldspinster · 21/10/2022 00:51

Tubing mascara is made of a polymer which shrink wraps your lashes, unlike a regular mascara which is made of waxes.

It only comes off with warm water.

Justworkplease · 21/10/2022 00:55

Tubing mascara?! What on earth?! 😬 off to Google!
Sounds like a holy grail!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/10/2022 00:59

Tubing mascara is good, though I didn't realise what it was when I first bought it and had a hell of a shock when I bathed - I thought my eyelashes had come off!Grin

wifeofaclosefriend · 21/10/2022 01:02

I've used Lancôme for years.....never had this problem. Have switched to Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk mascara and it's shocking for it......literally an hour after applying I have panda eyes

itsnotdeep · 21/10/2022 05:36

I can only wear Clinique Lash Power. Every other mascara does this to me. (I know this is a tubing mascara, but don't know which other ones are tubing mascaras so I stick with this!)

Agree you need a tubing mascara. I particularly like Kevyn Aucoin. Am on my 3rd year of continuous use.

I hate the packaging of that one. It gets so messy.

But yes tubing mascara. Clinique do one, no7 used to and hourglass do one.

Yes!!! Pillow Talk does that on me too. Until I'd uses it I had never encountered the problem.

The No7 one in a gold tube is excellent. On Ebay for about £7.

Squirrelsnut · 21/10/2022 06:38

It's a tubing one.

justhadit · 21/10/2022 07:00

If you google you can find recommendations for the best tubing mascaras. I’ve tried :
kevin Aucoin the volume
Estee Lauder double wear
Clinique lash power
Boots No 7 stay perfect

I think most brands have added one to their ranges now, so there are loads you could try. Staff on beauty counters don’t always seem to know about them, so you need to do your research first. My favourite out of the ones I’ve tried is Kevin Aucoin. You won’t get dramatic lashes like you can with some normal mascaras but they do not smudge at all. Also they only last about 3 months. You might have plenty of product left but it dries up and become clumpy and harder to apply. And it comes off really easily with warm water on a makeup pad. I struggled for years exactly as you are describing but once I got these it stopped.

SavingsThreads · 21/10/2022 07:06

Tubing mascara might not smudge, but it does just flake off instead. Not a perfect solution!

BuryingAcorns · 21/10/2022 07:21

I use Maybelline Waterproof Colossal. It doesn't smudge.

Battlecat98 · 21/10/2022 07:23

Tubing mascara is amazing. No 7 is great.

This is true, however I am a nurse and wear a mask for 13 hours, and whilst I do have the odd flake it was nothing like Panada eyes. Definitely worth the risk.

Another vote for tubing mascara - I use Stay Perfect.

Kawaii50 · 21/10/2022 07:32

I have this and so have got eyelashes dyed, but now I will look for a tubing mascara to try

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 21/10/2022 07:36

I've been using a lash serum for about a year on my upper lashes )have the dreaded hooded lids too) and a combination of that and using curlers means I've not had smudges on upper lids since

I use the normal one and it's a tubing one, doesn't shift ,it's great and removes with warm water .

Mercedesbenz2022 · 21/10/2022 07:40

Another vote for the Clinique lash power , bought as I had exactly the same issue , love it

HaveringWavering · 21/10/2022 07:40

Surprised nobody has mentioned Blinc, they were the original tubing mascara. Game changer.

I liked that the mascara itself came in a metal tube instead of a box- see why they did there? Grin

dirndldancer · 21/10/2022 07:42

Get a LVL lash lift so you don't need mascara. They'll be tinted and curled. It lasts around 6 weeks and costs £60.

It’s the mascara you’re using (unless of course you’re scrunching up your eyes immediately after application).
so for example, I find Bad Gal mascara does tbat but, for example, Lancôme mascaras don’t

BoxOfCats · 21/10/2022 07:47

Tubing mascara!
