Where to buy jeans that fit properly

I have just been out shopping for jeans and am having a terrible time finding jeans that fit properly. I'm pear shaped, short and a size 18 in trousers. My problem is that jeans either fit in the thighs and bum and are too loose around the waist or are too tight there and fit my waist. Anyone have any good brand recommendations?

Marks and Spencer magic jeans. I'm the same shape as you and these do the trick.

ChuckMater · 09/10/2022 20:10

Matalan I think its 'April' style are my perfect fit

I second the Marks and Spencer's magic jeans. I'm an hourglass but have big things/bum/hips and a fairly small waist. I bought a pie the other day and they're so good I went back for another pair. So comfortable and fairly flattering.

Watching this thread with interest! I've never found the perfect pair of jeans - I'm a typical apple, round stomach but with fairly slim thighs. So jeans are always saggy around my thighs/legs to get them to fit my waist Sad

Marks and Spencer’s Magic Jeans - in straight or skinny.

I have just ordered a second pair (black) after my dark blue ones fitted me well.

The Hourglass range on Asos

@familyissues12345 fellow apple here ,
try the sienna jeans at marks
i have them but I’m now looking for good wide legs fits too… the search is never ending for the perfect pair

Helpmymum · 09/10/2022 20:34

Yep, M&S magic jeans, they are my holy grail now after years and years of never finding a pair to fit!

I love my m & s high waist wide leg jeans, they're a good fit on me. I used to have to try 10 pairs before one fit, but now it's just m & s or COS. I've given up on gap because I have to try them on.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 09/10/2022 20:47

Thanks @akabluebell
i have ordered the autograph wide legs so fingers crossed

Sainsbury's girlfriend jeans. I'm the same shape as you, size 16 but was 18 when I first bought them.

Tabitha888 · 09/10/2022 21:52

River island Mollys!! They keep my bum looking good 😂

LadyAstor · 10/10/2022 00:47

Try being an inverted triangle - almost impossible to find jeans that fit because theyre all too big on the thighs.

Mango jeans are generally good for my shape, I'm a goblet/inverted triangle and I currently wear their Soho style. I buy them very tight, the waist band gives and the legs are nice and skinny. They are a great length too (if you're tall).

I use to wear the Mollys too. Great shape.

Fellow pear shape here with same problem. I've almost given up in my quest to find Jeans that fit. I did have some m amd S Magic FIt which did fit well to begin with, but I found shrank in the wash, with both pairs I had and also I didn't find the denim very soft..MInt Velvet girlfriend type ones are good on me and the denim is good quality, but become.a bit baggy afterbwearing a few times, but go back to normal.after a wash.

I have the same issue with almost all jeans so I recently learnt how to tailor them to fit at the waist. The fit is incredible! If you're not answer perhaps look into getting them tailored. It means you're not restricted to a particular style. Just buy any that fit you at the hips.

tranquiltortoise · 10/10/2022 07:51

I'm a pear shape and I like crew clothing's straight leg jeans. They're not cheap but then a good pair of jeans should last you years.

M&S getting a lot of shouts on here and they are OK but there is this current trend for high waisted jeans, which I really dislike. Hard to find a mid rise waist in M&S that suits me.

mastertomsmum · 10/10/2022 07:53

I bought a pair of jeans on a whim from M and S over the summer. They are everything I’d normally avoid - high waist, wide ish leg, pale colour. They are a complete game changer. THE most comfy and complimented jeans ever. They are called ‘boyfriend ankle skimmers’ - I just bought the darker wash ones. Being able to wear them without a belt is liberating, they are more than long enough regular being full length on my 31” inside leg.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 10/10/2022 08:06

I'm exactly the same shape and really rate the Sienna jeans from M&S. Even got complimented in them this weekend! Just be careful of the length as the regular fit are rather on the long side. I'm 5"4 with average proportions and find the short length fits me better than the regular.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/10/2022 08:06

@mastertomsmum they look ideal (just looked), but the dark wash have fake tears. I can't stand fake tears!!!!

Absolutely agree re regular - at almost 5ft 10, I always bought long but now buy regular at MandS

mastertomsmum · 10/10/2022 08:31

My pale was have fake roughing up but the dark wash ones don’t. It’s a bit random. Again, torn jeans not my thing but these are an exception for me. The pale ones look amazing with Breton type shirt. My only beware is that - although a fashionable person - I’m 60 (I think I’m 45 though 😉)

lindyloo57 · 10/10/2022 17:24

inverted triangle here too, if they fit the hips very slim, they are always to small on the waist, I have a couple of pairs of marks lily's but have to undo the button by the afternoon, and now the short jeans seems to be to long. Will have to try the mango ones which were mentioned.

I do this too, with some jeans I've had that haven't fit properly. You do need a little bit of knowledge and a sewing machine helps. Or a decent tailor, they are around but don't tend to advertise alot.

How do you do it Cloudwire? I cut the waist band and take apart the bum seam, then resew an inch or two in replicating the French seam. I'm sure there are other ways, but I haven't found them yet!
