What are you wearing on you feet?

I hate inbetween weather / seasons. I'm fine with clothes, but it's footwear. Particularly at work.

I'm one of those people that would prefer to go straight from sandals and flip flops straight into my boots, but it doesn't seem right. And throw trainers in there for out of work, but not suitable for in work.

I've tried to buy what I think of a "proper shoes", loafers, at the weekend and failed miserably. They were all too big, too small, too gapey or just naff.

Am I missing an obvious solution?

Why can't you wear trainers for work? There are some really cool styles around at the moment.

FindingMeno · 26/09/2022 20:05

I've gone sandals to boots like I always do.
I don't do shoes or trainers

TheChosenTwo · 26/09/2022 20:14

I’m either in my timberlands, my ankle boots or trainers. I can wear trainers to work, I’m very grateful for this and do make the most of the opportunity 😂

Flockameanie · 26/09/2022 21:54

I wear brogues for work. No idea if they're 'in' though!

Squiz81 · 26/09/2022 22:05

I wear flat brogues, they go with most things

MintJulia · 26/09/2022 22:11

I have two pairs of brogues and some deck shoes.

And at home I bumble round in woolly socks

Zebracat · 26/09/2022 22:38

Boots. It’s cold!

Stravaig · 27/09/2022 00:47

Lightweight ankle boots are my transition between sandals and big boots ie. walking boots, snow boots, wellies. Is that cheating? Currently an ancient pair of El Naturalista Nido and newer Vog Thursday. I fear I am not the help you are looking for!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/09/2022 01:15

Today: black heeled suede boots
Last week: tan brogues; tan heeled knee high boots; black flat slingbacks; leopard flat slingbacks

wibblewobbleball · 27/09/2022 02:49

Crocs. But I'm 9 months pregnant and these are the only shoes that fit me right now Grin

urbanbuddha · 27/09/2022 02:50

Light ankle boots or trainers most days. I have ballet flats but they get uncomfortable if you wear them all day, I think.

RoachTheHorse · 27/09/2022 05:28

I'm already in my Chelsea boots. I need something in black though as I only have brown at the mo.

dudsville · 27/09/2022 07:54

It's always hard making that transition! Why after so many years is it still awkward?!

Stickmansmum · 27/09/2022 07:56

I resurrected my uggs🫣 I pray every year they’ll come back in fashion.

OldTinHat · 27/09/2022 07:58

I'm still in my Fitflops. When my toes turn blue, I'll resort to socks and Chelsea boots - but not yet!

HilarityEnsues · 27/09/2022 07:59

I go for boots, but I have quite a few lighter pairs like beige suede, pale pink leather (tasteful, honest), sandy coloured, green, so it's not full on black straight away unless I want that, I think boots look fine with lighter clothes, dresses, pale jeans, it really does feel autumny so unless you have a bobble hat on yet, I think boots are fine.

Might not be allowed? We aren't allowed trainers, or open toe shoes

Can you post some links to similar to your brogues? I’d love some heeled ones!

TheOGCCL · 27/09/2022 08:55

I’m in the south so the weather is not too bad and a bit early for boots. I wear some nude flat court shoes, with trousers as I never wear dresses or skirts, and make the rest of my outfit a bit warmer to compensate. I’ve also been known to commit the 8th deadly sin of wearing nude pop socks.

Once it starts raining constantly (and splashing black water all over my shoes), I’ll switch to boots but we are a long time in those.

A lot of women I see are wearing chunky black loafers. I don’t wear black shoes and such chunky shoes would look ridiculous on me, they also look like they could rub, but that seems to be the current style.

BuddhaAtSea · 27/09/2022 09:01

I’m wearing clogs.

LimeCheesecake · 27/09/2022 09:04

Brogues and boots.

I think they will soon tbf. Early 00s is back, so we’ll probably start seeing teenagers wearing them, with velour tracksuits probably.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 27/09/2022 09:06

Right now I'm wearing Juva trainers mostly for my Plantar Fasciitis. At work I'd wear my Fit Flop Ballet Pumps (flat shoes) and at weekend I wore my AF1's one day.

as @TheOGCCL says a lot of women I see are wearing chunky black loafers which I like to think I'd pull off but I'd look silly in them so no point me buying them! The other week I ordered and bought these:-

I've also got these which I bought a year ago:-

SuzySangfroid · 27/09/2022 09:09

I've been in leather clog type things (not sure they're particularly fashionable, but I walk to work and they are comfortable), lace up ankle boots or sometimes 'work appropriate' trainers (they're dark with no laces, so people don't really notice I'm wearing them). I'm on my feet a lot though and honestly, if someone told me off for not wearing smart shoes, I'd probably tell them to do one.

If I was still in an office, I'd probably go with brogues. Like you, I can't find loafers which aren't gapey. Brogues are better as they lace up and therefore fit.

Flockameanie · 27/09/2022 11:36

@Prettybubblesintheair I’ve had a pair of Clark’s tan brogues for about 5 years and they’re still going strong
