What are you wearing on you feet?

I hate inbetween weather / seasons. I'm fine with clothes, but it's footwear. Particularly at work.

I'm one of those people that would prefer to go straight from sandals and flip flops straight into my boots, but it doesn't seem right. And throw trainers in there for out of work, but not suitable for in work.

I've tried to buy what I think of a "proper shoes", loafers, at the weekend and failed miserably. They were all too big, too small, too gapey or just naff.

Am I missing an obvious solution?

I'm in black patent leather lace up shoes. Can't go wrong with a pair of Kickers or DM shoes! Sometimes wear creepers. Outside work it's trainers tbh. Soon it will be too cold and wet here and the big Doc Martens will come back out.

Im guilty of the nude pop socks too in the transition periods! But I am 66 so can be forgiven. I’m on the south coast too and only just about to give up my sandals. Wearing flat ballerina pumps and sending DH up into the attic later today to search out my boot collection. Will choose a bright sunny day this week to sit in the garden and polish them.
The joys of a typical day in retirement/ days off grandchildren care

I love wearing winter boots with dresses, one of the best bits about Autumn clothing!

Milesty1 · 27/09/2022 12:00

Are you sure no trainers for work? I wear smart white leather hi tops go the office. Most places seem to be ok with it these days.

Milesty1 · 27/09/2022 12:01

Also a fan of DM brogues!

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 27/09/2022 12:22

I fancy a pair of chunky loafers, anyone seen any nice ones?

Must be leather, chunky but not massive, and under £100. I love the Toast Solovair ones but can't justify the price. I quite like the Clarks Oriana and Orinoco but I don't quite love them enough to part with the cash

There’s nothing wrong in going from sandals to boots, shoes can be really tricky (although I’ve never worked out why)!

@Prettybubblesintheair I’ve had a pair of Clark’s tan brogues for about 5 years and they’re still going strong

Love those thanks!

I only wear barefoot/minimalist shoes so everything is flat. I got these recently and love them as the ideal smart-casual mid-season shoe for me: www.vivobarefoot.com/uk/opanka-sneaker-womens

I also have a couple of pairs of chelsea boots, and some non-sporty trainers.

Flockameanie · 27/09/2022 14:13

I wear a lot of barefoot/minimal stuff too @fernz. I have a pair of BeLenka boots I really like. Also Camper ‘peu’ boots.

Zebracat · 27/09/2022 14:16

I love those Opanka trainers @fernz
They call them slip ons but they have laces, do they slip on? I have a hip problem and cat get down for laces. Also are they very narrow?

user6497219 · 27/09/2022 14:17

Ankle boots if it is chilly or wet, though not really wintery ones and loafer/boat shoe type style if weather is ok

ShesThunderstorms · 27/09/2022 14:27

Got my DMs back out for the first time today and was pleased to find they didn't seem to need breaking in again. I've been wearing trainers or black converse to the office.

So they have another Opanka style without laces (slip-on) and the one with laces is the new version. This is the other one but I only have the ones with laces so not sure what these are like in real life: www.vivobarefoot.com/uk/opanka-womens

Vivo is generally wider than most "normal" shoes but not super wide in the world of barefoot shoes compared to some other European brands.

FeralWitch · 27/09/2022 20:06

Chunky loafers.
Trainers.
Birkenstock Bostons with jazzy socks 😳

Ladyofthepeonies · 27/09/2022 20:11

@HilarityEnsues you’ve just reminded me I have a pair of pink boots somewhere in the house. I must find them.

Today I was wearing brown suede cowboy boots love boot season also means you can hide thermal socks in them

lindyloo57 · 27/09/2022 21:16

I'm in my doc marten boots. I wear them all year round for work. I have about 10 pairs.

I wear trainers at the weekend. Adidas in various colours and styles.
