Please help me style this dress for a wedding

Hello you very stylish lot!
I'm going to a wedding in Scotland in early November, meeting some of my partners friends (not family) for the first time. I think it might be quite a posh wedding and I want to get the outfit right. It's at a small cathedral, then a bar/restaurant place for the evening.
I've got this dress for it.

I'm not usually a dressy person at all, I dress smart ish for work, and the rest of the time is dungarees or pinafore dresses.
I have a chronic pain condition which can sometimes affect my mobility, I should be fine for the wedding but it means I don't own any heels! And I think this dress needs them? but they'll have to be supportive, and not too high. I do like platform heels, but I so rarely go to big occasions so it seems ridiculous to buy proper heels. I was wondering about some snazzy ankle boots, that I could get more wear out of after?
I have a black velvet Boden coat I got from a charity shop which I think will be ok over the top?
I'd appreciate your thoughts on the dresses suitability, and any suggestions for shoes and bag?
I already have a plain silver evening bag which might go?
I like metallics, greens, pinks, bold yellows, floral, embroidery. I know the red is maybe an obvious choice to pick out, but I don't like red so don't want to buy accessories in it.
My budget is low but any advice and inspiration would be much appreciated!
I've attached some pics of me in it. Yes I do need to buy a new bra!

I think bright, chunky heeled shoes. Not necessarily high heels. It's a lovely dress.

Thick tights and low heeled ankle boots will be fine! Honestly no one will be looking at your feet so as long as your shoes aren’t totally bizarre you’ll blend in. Go for comfort!

I think wedges or a block heeled pair of Mary Jane shoes would be better than a stilleto heel.
Red if you are going for colour or gold if you are going for metallic.

Have a look on Vinted for ankle boots or chunky heels. You’ll find some great barely worn shoes.

I’d go for flesh tone tights and get footwear in a colour that picks out the embroidery.

That's a gorgeous dress! I'd go for fancy flats or a block heel a mustard faux fur jacket, there's a few of both on Vinted;

I just want to say thank you! I saw your post, LOVE the dress and I've just bought.

I'm 5ft 2 so will definitely wear it with heels, (I live in them).
I'm indian so the colouring works for me. My hair is very similar to the models and I wear it down most days. I think the bodice is busy so will keep my jewellery minimal, delicate silver chain with matching stud earrings. Engagement ring and wedding band (diamond and platinum), made up eyes and nude lip.

Comfort is really important here, definitely think along those lines. You're clearly stylish, you're going to look great.

I have the dress in white and it is indeed lovely and the navy is very suitable for a wedding. Definitely no to the tights. The previous poster probably didn’t realise that the waist is see through so you’d spend the day readjusting your tights so you couldn’t see the waist band.

I'm glad you like the idea of snazzy ankle boots. I couldn't get Vinted to work but Depop has some (I think) great options, I've attached a pic of the ones I've favourited.
I love the idea of velvet ones because I love velvet anything, and I think the texture contrast might be nice?
I especially like the ones in the middle which are bit lilac/dusky pink 😍
But I think the ones I've attached the solo pic will match my bag well, and they're only £15.

Thank you, I don't think I could manage a slingback or kitten heel, think I need something more sturdy, and to keep to warm in the Scottish autumn!
