Help handbag people: which Acne Musubi Mini colour?

Hello, I’ve just bought the above bag in brown ( dark beige to be precise) and picked it up from the store that I ordered it from. Although I really like the design, the type of brown is quite flat and I don’t think flatters my (pale, pink toned) skin.

Would it be a mistake to swap it for a black one? Is black too safe for the style? Or any other colours you’d recommend? www.acnestudios.com/uk/en/musubi-mini/A10093-AL4.html?categid=woman-bags

I can’t go for an orange as it doesn’t suit my colouring and some of the bright colours I’m not sure if I’d get enough wear from. White? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Or another minimal / European made/ easy wearing alternative bag? Any thoughts appreciated.

Disclaimer: No, I don’t have space in my garden for a bench. Yes I do want to spend £750+ on a bag. Yes I have had a shit time recently (haven’t we all) and would like something fun in my life. No I can’t use the money for a holiday as I can’t go on holiday for foreseeable future (see above point) and finally I don’t think it will solve all my problems 😉

I really don't rate Everlane their clothing is pretty poor quality in general. However, I purchased the Form tote in cognac around three years ago and the quality for the price is excellent. I have it in cognac and find it a versatile colour.

That’s useful to know about Everlane’s clothes Mercurial, there’s been so much in the press about their quality/ ethics etc but no point going to that trouble when both are no better than you’d get from the H&M group, where (if you’re UK based) it’s easier to send back.

Is the Studio bag heavy? I’ve looked at the Landscape tote from Arket today but am pretty sure I’d find that a bit heavy (and liable to slip down the shoulder) on a day to day basis.

What is the Phantom Cabas Tote, Bo? The one that looks like a face?

Everlane got a bit of bad press during the pandemic iirc, they were prohibiting their staff from unionising (this is an American labour issue that I just don't know enough about but generally when a company frustrates that process they're seen as assholes) and a lot of sudden layoffs. I always tend to take the whole ethical/green claims with a huge grain of salt, no start up business from the past ten or so years will claim not to be.

The one with a face is the luggage bag, which as the name suggests weighs a tonne, I ended up selling mine for that reason (but it was also a little too popular at that point which meant I could turn a profit Blush). Attached is the Phantom Cabas (the largest one I suspect, the smaller one will still fit a 13" laptop), they still make it but in a slightly sturdier leather so you can view it in story.

I think with buying secondhand it's tricky these days, there's a lot of high quality fakes and the secondhand market has exploded so things aren't that cheap compared to new anymore, anything that looks financially too good to be true probably is. As a rule I'd avoid any vaguely popular bag and/or brand but something obscure can still be a bargain.

I did see Cos have quite a nice large tote here, also available in black but I suspect that one will be heavy too but it's probably available to view in store.

And Frenzlauer have the Mami that could potentially work.

I have the Form bag which is not heavy. I'm guessing the studio would be a similar weight.

Mansur Gavriel and Polene don't get nearly enough press. Lovely bags and both made in Europe IIRC

Thanks for the pictures. That clears that up. I would buy second hand but concerned that you can’t return if you have my Musubi camel (mud) brown issue.

The Mami looks v nice. I’ve tried the cos bag but it dwarfs me- although I’m not small. I think the leather is a bit stiff for that size and shape for me, possibly I’m not used to it.

I’m still considering the Studio as a wish list item. The bags seem to be getting good reviews, but completely get what the point re: empty virtue signalling. Sometimes I’d like brands to shut up and do their work well, ethically, yes, but quietly!

Patapouf this was the MG that I’ve seen in person and really liked, but worried about the wear and tear: www.mansurgavriel.com/products/everyday-soft-tote-claret

Also wonder if less structured bags (like a Sezane I have) get dragged down with the weight of laptops which could render them less comfortable than a heavier one which is worn slightly higher with a thick strap?

Thanks for indulging me, everyone. I feel this is a bit like when I was talking in detail to my family about shades of white paint… Thanks to all, for when you decide to gracefully withdraw!
