Mine is really comfy practical boots. Preferably Chelsea boots.

I’m trying to be more thoughtful in my purchases as I have so much!

I’m hoping to find a perfect parka one to last the next 10 yrs. I’m willing to pay just about anything it needs to be suitable for Canada cold, and classic not trendy.

bitachey · 03/09/2022 16:10

@fallfallfall Woolrich if you don’t mind the spend?

www.woolrich.com/gb/en/women/outerwear/parkas/?cgid=WOMEN-PARKA&sz=56

Or a Scandinavian brand.

@bitachey not warm enough, coldest rating is 14F, which is a warm winter day need at least to -20 ideally -30C.

WrinklesShminkles · 03/09/2022 18:31

14F is -10C. -4F is -20C.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/09/2022 19:57

I think I'm done .
I bought a fleece long jacket and a Superdry coat ( to replace an old one, got 10% off)

White Stuff cardigan in navy
Orange viscose jumper

I have boots barely worn from last year .

Maybe some winter socks .

Stichintimesavesstapling · 03/09/2022 20:09

I've spent the last gazillion years breastfeeding and longing for big winter jumpers or knitted dresses so going to be getting some of those this season. More boots as I always end up using my nice ones for work on the school run and ruining them. I'd like one of those knitted poncho things this year and a thin warm scarf that doesn't itch.

BuwchGochGota · 03/09/2022 20:15

Chelsea boots that are big enough to wear thermal socks inside.
Knitted vests to wear over blouses. M&S have some nice ones.

Jellywobblescobbles · 03/09/2022 20:18

A good quality pair of ankle boots. Won’t be Churchs’ though as balked at the price!

I bought a nice single breasted navy mac from M&S recently.

would like a wool Winter coat with zip fastening and attached hood.

schmalex · 03/09/2022 20:20

Knee high boots (cowboyish ones) and a classic trench coat (although I've been trying to find one of these for years and I'm starting to think they just don't suit me!)

QuentininQuarantino · 03/09/2022 20:27

I would like a trench coat like the classic Burberry one that Holly Goñightly wears at the end of Breakfast at Tiffany’s but with a hood and for much less money than a Burberry one!

m&s has one but I don’t love it..

Canada Goose! Im from a Scandinavian country and they definitely hold up. It quiet as cold as Canada but they are also used by people going to Antarctica. Very very pricy though!

sparklecement · 03/09/2022 21:04

I need a coat. At least bum covering for New York in January. Ideally navy, waterproof, warm and makes me look alright. I don’t want to look like I’ve walked straight out of Mourtain Warehouse in my photos.

fallfallfall · 03/09/2022 23:02

i'm searching and may have to contact a couple places regarding sizing:
i'm not discounting canada goose but am looking at makage and moose knuckles and pajar (although they seem sold out already). i'm certainly digging up some not to customary brands for western canada (vs east coast) :(

bitachey · 03/09/2022 23:17

Is there not major ethical issues around Canada Goose? Out of my budget anyway.

I’m also looking for a warm oversized chunky red roll neck jumper. I have a grey Other Stories one that I wore loads last year but it is very grey and colour is so nice in the winter.

Didriksons?

AnnieSnap · 03/09/2022 23:43

I can’t really justify buying clothes this year. I lost lots of weight in 2021 and had to replace my entire wardrobe. I may have enjoyed doing that a little too much and got carried away 😲😳 So I don’t need anything. Also, I got bitten by the sewing bee bug this past year, so I make clothes too 😳

Canada Goose. I have dual Canadian/UK citizenship and we have a home in Alberta, I've spent a lot of winters there. I have a ton of winter coats - I have a Helly Hansen parka that's pretty good if I layer properly under it, and a Fjallraven that's OK if I'm not outside for too long, but my CG are by far the warmest. I have an Expedition parka and a Trillium, which is much smarter looking. Both the HH and Fjallraven are more than enough for being out and about in UK winter but not Alberta winter.

fallfallfall · 04/09/2022 05:27

maybe this?

I've got 3 holidays booked for winter, one is a cruise so I'm looking for a posh dress or two to add to what I've already got. Charity shops/dress agencies can be useful for that kind of thing so I'll try those first.
I've just bought Chelsea boots, two pairs of jeans, a new top, jacket and underwear.
There's nothing else that I honestly need but if I'm shopping and I see something amazing I will buy it.

Hedonism · 04/09/2022 07:11

Boots. I need the perfect ankle boots that will go with jeans or dresses. My current favourite pair are cheap and not at all waterproof and would have worn out long ago were it not for the stay at home covid winters.

Polgara2 · 04/09/2022 07:41

Boots too. I've annoyingly developed inter metatarsal bursitis in my foot which means ALL of my current footwear hurt like hell. So I need something with a wide rounded toe with a cushioned inner - which is proving difficult to find!

Numbat2022 · 04/09/2022 07:48

I want a lovely green coat. Wool or similar, not a parka, something long and preferably a bit witchy.

I promised myself one for the winter after I was on mat leave - winter of 2020/21. We all know how that turned out. Since then I've just used my maternity parka which is warm and dry but the size of a tent, because I wasn't back in the office regularly until this spring and we were still being cautious so not going out for dinner or anything. Crazy to think that was less than a year ago!

This shop on Etsy do lovely coats - here's one that might be what you're looking for, for example:

I'm buying this roll next jumper - a key piece that I'll have for years: finisterre.com/collections/womens-knitwear/products/womens-merino-farne-roll-neck-knit-jumper-oatmeal
