how to be plus size and glam?

I'm a size 20 (trying to lose weight although not as hard I probably could try!)

I want to hide the fact I'm fat, as in make people not notice it, but instead look at me and think I'm glam or professional looking. How do I do that?

All clothes seem to be very mumsy or tent-like.

I wear M&S jeggings and maxi dresses from SheIn Curve. Sometimes things from roman originals and H&M plus.

What can I do in terms of accessories, make up, hair style / colour, nails etc to make me a glam plus size person?

I'm skinny but Louise Pentland! you can see for yourself instead of me describing. I also love the way she admits that dressing up and wearing makeup gets uncomfortable after a while and she can't wait to dress down- like me too at least 🤷🏽‍♀️

I know some bigger people who I find absolutely gorgeous. They are confident in how they look - really take care of themselves. Stand up straight, nice styled hair, nails done. One I’m thinking of in particular wears lots of colour (she’s dark so it really goes with her skin tone) and nice shoes. Basically the opposite of trying to hide away :)

Agree about good quality clothing and fabrics

Thank you so much everyone!
Part of my problem is that although I'm 5'5, I have a long body and short legs, so trousers are difficult - petite is too short, regular isi too long - and even with some dresses, I look swamped.
Someone up thread said to wear dresses that tuck under the boob, well I tried them and my DM (who is skinny and blunt in her manner) said they made me look fatter.
I'm eying up this top from Roman because I like the pattern but I'm worried it will make me look shorter than I am. Not sure about the long back?
I can't wear heels as I have problems with my balance (disability related).
Are there any plus size bloggers who dress 'normal' and within a reasoanable budget? I'm not a low cut cleavage, bold pattern kind of girl, I like a classic polished look.
Where's good for jewellery? I like statement jewellery but don't wear as much as I should.

definitely not my kind of dress, or my colour.

I have no idea what my colours are, even after looking at that colour me beautiful thing. I know I have dark brown hair and green eyes and suit darker shades and that silver jewellery looks better on me than gold. So I guess that makes me a winter or something?

I wasn't going to chime in because in MN terms, I am not fashionable.

But you sound a bit like me in your taste so this is what helped me

Breaking up frontage, so I try, if I can, to have two layers on with a gap eg open shirt over T shirt

Longer at the back works for me even though I'm short. Not as long as the top you linked to but that's fine for you, I think.

I would never tuck in under the chest but I like to cover up my big chest generally

I don't wear dresses or skirts so can't help there

I wear the colours I like

I own two printed tops with a small subtle print, everything else is one colour

I buy the colours I feel happy with. My sister sticks to her recommended colour palette but I'd constantly be wearing colours I don't like if I did that!

I bought a lot of stuff from Zalando as there's 90 day returns, haven't bought clothes for years before I did that (waiting to lose weight).

I don't see hair, nails as any different due to size but my hair has never been shorter than shoulder length. I have a neighbour who is similar size to me though and she has short hair which looks nice.

Joanie looks to be good for nice dresses plus size

My most glamorous friend is about this size. She’s not glam for her size, she’s just straight up super glam and always looks well put together and beautiful. Not try hard but always event appropriate and effortless. Her nails and hair are immaculate. She wears skinny jeans with wrap blouses, never pattern, always block colours. Dresses with nipped in waists and funky flats or sometimes low heels and drapey knit jumpers with interesting neck lines. She doesn’t dress to hide her size or shape but to emphasise her shape. She wore head to toe sequins at her wedding and looked a million dollars. I’d never have the confidence to pull it off but she looked comfortable and incredibly elegant.
