Life changing pair of shorts!

I'm 36 years old and haven't owned or worn a pair of shorts for my entire adult life - at least 20 years! Not even on holiday. I had convinced myself that my legs were too awful, I am just starting to realise that it was all in my head (I've been having therapy since the start of the year which has definitely played a part in that!) - I've never had supermodel legs and never will, I'm 5'4", but that shouldn't stop a person from wearing shorts in the sweltering heat!

Today I bought my first pair and omg my life has been changed forever! So comfy! I got them in the Fat Face sale. Where else should I look to stock up on shorts?

Love this thread. Was reading an S&B thread recently where someone had said no one over the age of 25 (or some such arbitrary age) should wear shorts and I'd literally just splashed on a pair of linen ones from Seasalt. I wore them anyway and bloody love them! Have worn them about 6 times in the past two weeks.

Sainsburys Tu Bermuda shorts if they still have them.

M&S chino or boyfriend

In the past I got good linen / cotton blend from Peacocks.

I love wearing shorts.

Shorts, well chosen, do what jeans do in winter..bUT WITHOUT BEING HOT, Your legs are what they are, but you will be comfortable. Who cares what vipers think. Hot weather is the time to work out how what are comfortable in with enough coverage. Modest shorts pass muster in most Arabian shopping mallls. I'm quite short 5/5 and a 7 inch inside leg has never raised eyebrows,

Stuff like that makes me so angry. It’s like no one over 25 has the right to be “shock horror” comfortable in the heat! And you know what I actually think shorts look great on us (hate saying it) older people (I’m nearly 42, size 20). It’s okay to dress for yourself and not for other people, if you think you look good and are comfy then that’s the main thing.

I live in shorts at this time of year. Jigsaw chino shorts are my favourite - they are just the right waist height to suck everything in without being uncomfortable or "biting in" at the waistband.

I am 39 and have legs like a Shetland pony but I give zero fucks!

Shorts and a T shirt, well chosen, look fine on most peop]e. Not too tight, not too short. Job done for hot weather.

Which brand did you buy, if you remember?
And how far down does the skirt bit come to?

Decathlon sell Decathlon brands 😉

Not the first shop that comes to mind for shorts, but inspired by this thread, I just bought 2 pairs of linen (or linen mix?) shorts from Lidl this morning!
Surprisingly nice and very comfortable, perfect for the warm weather.
Not sure about their sizing but I got size S and I am a 6-8 depending on the style, these have elasticated back waist and fit absolutely fine maybe a bit looser than they would on a standard size 8 figure.

I've only ever worn jeans shorts but and only on holidays after turning 35 - not sure why but my everyday fashion preferences maybe changed, my legs are exactly the same.

57 short and muscular calves ( due to riding horses )
Varicose veins
Wear shorts all summer and actually don't give a toss what other people might think
Top tip if you are short is that shorter shorts are more flattering, the longer ones can give that naughty school boy look and I think the more flesh you display, the longer your legs look
