Am off to a Michelin star restaurant tomorrow night with lovely DP and then some naice bars afterwards for cocktails 🍸. I usually go out dressed like an explosion in a Sue Ryder shop so have decided to try and be proper glamorous for one night.

Am a size 14 atm and want to get back to a 12 so not feeling at my best but the dress is actually really flattering. Medium length dark hair. Usually style is quite quirky (hate that word)/alternative, lots of vintage, dungarees, piercings.

Dress + shoes + necklace pics should hopefully be attached.

Would a black mani be too Morticia?! 😆

Love the black dress - where is that from?
The heels are ok but I prefer stilletos.
What is the jewelled item? A necklace?

Dalint · 29/07/2022 14:47

Ok I've just read that the jewellery is a necklace.
I would go for a single pearl or diamond necklace (fake is fine). Not all that cheap bling.

TizerorFizz · 29/07/2022 14:48

I would try coloured shoes. Maybe to go with the bag? (If that’s what it is?). Pink?

AreolaGrande · 29/07/2022 14:48

I can't do stilettos and have wide feet so my options are limited! These work well as are quite high but still comfy.

Dress is Matalan.

Sparkly item is a necklace from Primark. I have had it for years and love it.

Dress and shoes are lovely but would go with simple gold jewellery

oviraptor21 · 29/07/2022 14:48

Looks fab to me.
I think I have those shoes - they're perfect.
Black mani fine or something very bright.

AreolaGrande · 29/07/2022 14:49

Am so not a single pearl or diamond kinda gal. Cheap bling every single time 😀

oviraptor21 · 29/07/2022 14:49

Just adding some support for the necklace. I'm a bit quirky too and this is just what I would choose. Plain gold or pearls etc would be too tame for me.

TizerorFizz · 29/07/2022 14:50

Go with a coloured bag then to break up the black. You really won’t be looked at in the restaurant. Just focus on having a great meal. Have fun.,

AreolaGrande · 29/07/2022 14:50

oviraptor ✋😆

My DH always quotes: 'wear the dress you admire on others'

Which may sound a bit wishy washy (and he definitely isn't) - it does make me consider options I may have been not dared consider before. I hardly wear black now - and before - I lived in it

Your dress and heels are lovely! Xx

roses2 · 29/07/2022 15:01

Lovely fit but any other colour than black?

gingercat02 · 29/07/2022 15:01

Gorgeous OP. Never mind the less is more crew. Sometimes more is more 📿💍👑💎

TheLassWiADelicateAir · 29/07/2022 15:49

The dress looks way more expensive than it probably is. The necklace will break up the low neckline and look much better than a single strand. Both are great.

I really , really don't like the sandals. I wouldn't wear heels with a dress that short and would go for red or pink ballet flats.

Googlecanthelpme · 29/07/2022 15:56

I think it’s perfect for a date night dinner and drinks!
Im very jealous!

ballet pumps with a cocktail dress? No!

The dress is classic, the heels are great choice between classic and on trend and you love the bling. It works!

enjoy your night!

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 29/07/2022 15:58

Yes lovely dress and shoes. Very timeless.

I don't like the necklace, I'd go for more like the model is wearing, I don't think those statement ones are as nice at the moment.

Enjoy!

Googlecanthelpme · 29/07/2022 15:58

Oh I forgot to say, I love a black or dark red nail usually but I recently went to a wedding and I did a dark red nail - it felt way too heavy for the summer.

There’s nothing wrong with it at all if it’s your choice but you might feel more “glam” and less morticia if you go for a lighter shade. You could do a light grey if you don’t like bright shades

RyvitaBrevis · 29/07/2022 16:04

Dress, shoes and necklace are great!

Please don't listen to any talk of ballet flats, noooo

JumpTheGun · 29/07/2022 16:06

It looks perfectly nice but if your style is quirky I think you could be much more adventurous!

GroggyLegs · 29/07/2022 16:09

I think it's a great outfit!

Really smart but you've added personality with your accessories.

Enjoy your night - I'm very jealous! 😂

NotMyDayJob · 29/07/2022 16:13

I like the necklace and I think with black, simple gold or pearls, which have their place would look funereal/job interview/day in court.

Personally I would have got the same dress in a blue but that's just me

C152 · 29/07/2022 16:14

Fab dress and shoes! I'm personally not a fan of chunky jewellery, but if you love it, wear it. You'll look great!

hoorayandupsherises · 29/07/2022 16:17

I love it all. Have a great time!

maddiemookins16mum · 29/07/2022 16:18

I read your title as fancy dress night 😂😂😂

Bigwetdog · 29/07/2022 16:23

I don't like the necklace - a plain pendant better. What's the restaurant? Some are pretty casual despite the Michelin star!
