Why can't I find an ankle length raincoat?

I do realise they're not stylish but I walk to work and when it's pissing down I get wet trousers. I want a large plastic ankle length mac like my Granny used to have. My desire to be dry is far greater than my desire to be stylish.

Try Iran?

TheRookie · 10/07/2022 23:08

I would probably just get waterproof trousers, cheaper and more practical, then you can have a normal waterproof cost that you would wear more often.

polkadotclip · 10/07/2022 23:10

Wow, would an ankle length raincoat work? Would it not get all wet on the bottom from puddles and splashes?

Do you mean like a plastic see through one or one that works more like a coat?

I presume you've dismissed the idea of tucking trousers into wellies...

CuriousCatfish · 10/07/2022 23:11

Van you still buy pac a macs?

BrilloSolar · 10/07/2022 23:13

Erm... That escalated quickly!

But yes, waterproof trousers?

I know what you mean though, I'd probably call it a Mac, or search for fishing coats???

Talipesmum · 10/07/2022 23:13

Looks a bit mad but this one is full length: www.lighthouseclothing.co.uk/products/outback-full-length-waterproof-raincoat-deep-sea

Didriksons do extra long raincoats. Or how about Rains?

Talipesmum · 10/07/2022 23:15

Or if you fancy dragging it over your head to take it on and off: rainkiss.com/collections/adults

Flamingoose · 10/07/2022 23:16

Lol

It's not going to be dragging through the puddles.

Not a coat - a plastic mac to go on top of everything.

Why does it have to be see-through??!

How tall are you?

BeggarsMeddle · 10/07/2022 23:17

Could you reduce your height to 4'11" ? All regular length macs will be near ankle length then. (Speaking from experience)

Flamingoose · 10/07/2022 23:17

Ooooh I kind of like the Dijriksons yellow one

OK so I didn't know what you mean! I was thinking more like the link above.

I definitely think then that a pack away top and trousers would work best.

Flamingoose · 10/07/2022 23:18

Hahaha the way they're making the rain kiss ponchos sexy with the models wearing nothing underneath. Omg, yep, that'll be me off to work in the rain.

BeggarsMeddle · 10/07/2022 23:20

Ooh. My apologies - see you're asking about the light plastic type.

Flamingoose · 10/07/2022 23:20

Talipesmum - those are so much nicer than my gran used to have! I'm pretty sure she had one that was see-through with a mint green stripe 😂and an oversized gnome hood.

avamiah · 10/07/2022 23:21

Hahaha, are you serious ?
Sorry I’m not being disrespectful but I’m here in London with 3 fans on as it is absolutely boiling as we are having a heat wave at the moment and it’s very uncomfortable as we are just not use to this weather .😥

Flamingoose · 10/07/2022 23:21

I think the Amazon one is the winner!!
I'm enjoying this thread.

I know exactly what you mean - my grandma had a nice long brown mac that she wore at all times (it usually rained) and it was also useful in rare sunny climes as a picnic rug to sit on. I was laughing a bit at the links but actually some of those long macs are quite handy! If I was out on an Actual Walk I’d be in coat and waterproof trousers but it’s a faff with waterproof over trousers and normal clothes and shoes, esp if you’re in a skirt. A massive lengthy coat might be the thing!

I just thought it was a comedy qu mid heat wave
