What dungarees do you like? (with clips not ties if possible)

ShinyMe · 30/06/2022 21:06

I really want some dungarees. But I'm almost 50, and am short (5'2) and round (18-20 with a big bust) and don't really know where to start, not having worn dungarees since the early 90s.

I like the look of Lucy & Yak ones, but I think that the ties would be bloody annoying when you need the loo, so I'd prefer ones with clips that do up quickly.

If possible, I don't want ones that are totally shapeless, or that are very baggy at the back - I'd like a little bit of shape at the waist if possible.

Can anyone here recommend something from personal experience please?

Following, I'm a bit taller and 50..

karmakameleon · 30/06/2022 21:16

I am slightly shorter and have these.

You don't need to untie the ties on the Lucy and yak ones, just slip them over your shoulder when you need the loo

Sammilouwho · 30/06/2022 21:23

I wear Lucy and Yaks, the ties are super simple, just slip them off when you need a wee!
They are very comfortable!

ShinyMe · 30/06/2022 21:34

Oh! It never occurred to me that you could get the L&Y ones off without untying them! That's it, I might have to get some now!

It didn't occur to me that you could just slip them off! I have a nice pair from Seasalt that I was going to send back because I could not deal with taking them off numerous times a day but may keep them now Grin

SunshineThelma · 01/07/2022 12:11

I really dislike the look of the ties on the L&Y ones, to the point I have considered getting some and adding my own clips. 🤔

ShinyMe · 01/07/2022 17:07

I think I like the look of the ties - they seem a bit more casual. I'm not keen on them when they're all bow-y though. I think I'm going to have to get some.

Definitely don't need to untie the loops on L&Y.

I have some non-L&Y ones that are more fitted that have a jumpsuit-like front zip, and those are easy for going to the loo (H&M, but I sized down, and the strap holders slide down as I wear them, which I need to sort out).

(like these on ebay)

Run and Fly!!! AMAZING designs with clips not ties and they have a great selection!! X I wear dungarees probably 4 times a week!!

ShinyMe · 01/07/2022 19:26

I'm not convinced that the hole that fits my shoulders will fit round my middle without untying the straps, but I think I've been wanting these for so long that I need to just get some!

@ShinyMe , follow the size guide on their website. The styles are loose, and are meant to be. If you look at the photos, they suit all the models.

nokitchen · 01/07/2022 19:35

I wear the ones from Jaki of London. They came in loads of colours and last brilliantly

Thanks - they're one of the few that actually show fat people wearing them (that I've found so far). Not too many short people, but I'm used to that...

Fat Face Lewes, I'm a bit taller than you (5'6") and long in the body, and I find these so comfy. I've tried other brands and found them too short in the body for me.

Peeeas · 01/07/2022 19:58

Vote for Fat Face Lewes here too - they have a short length for us shorties!

LaQuern · 01/07/2022 20:49

I have some from Kit & Kaboodal and Lovely Eira.

Both have ties but they are soooooo comfortable

Lazydazey · 01/07/2022 21:16

Fat Face Lewes for the win ! 5’2 , 55 , size 14 . I tried them on to prove to my husband how stupid I’d look on them, but they looked great if I do say so myself. Very flattering.

ShinyMe · 02/07/2022 07:14

I should be going near a Fatface this weekend, so I may try some on. I can't put my finger on what I don't think I like about the look of them though, there's something I'm not keen on in the photos... Will check out the others recommended now too. I was all set to buy the yaks last night but the ones I wanted were out of stock in my size.

I bloody love dungarees! I’m 52 and 5 foot (on a good day 😁). I’ve got some black ones from New Look and they’re fab, really light and flowing and only £23.99. Highly recommend!

ThiefofTime12 · 02/07/2022 19:42

Fat Face Clayton dungarees are amazing.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 05/07/2022 20:30

Another vote for Jaki dungarees - I absolutely love them. I'm 5'4". The straps just go over my shoulders when i need to use the loo.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 05/07/2022 20:32

PS I have the 'boyfriend' jersey type, not the linen ones

incognitodorrito · 05/07/2022 20:37

5“3 and 45 .. have these in vintage pale & love wearing them.
