Your favourite spa (if you have one!)

I realised that it's been many years since I like many others have done something purely for myself so have decided to take myself off and enjoy some peace and quiet.

I love a good massage but I like spas that are quiet, CLEAN! where I don't have to walk through public spaces in a dressing gown, where therapists don't wear heels and where I can't hear the reception.

Spas in the UK really are lacking in regards to creating a serene space, so after my moan has anyone got a spa they can recommend.

Around the Southwest preferably.

My favourite spa is not in the UK, so cannot help you on that. It's in Haarlem in the Netherlands.

jeaux90 · 26/06/2022 10:20

Best spa in the southwest is at The Scarlet hotel in Cornwall

I really enjoyed Borringdon Hall in Plymouth.

I really enjoyed Borringdon Hall in Plymouth.

I didn't like Boringdon at all, walking through the reception and swimming pool to treatment room. The relaxation room was filthy, the low hanging lights were covered in dust. They could've made it so much better!

Not that close to Southwest but worth the trip

limewood in New Forest , Senspa in Brockenhurst , Chewton Glen in New Forest

all excellent.

I must have got lucky, my DH and I had three wonderful nights there last Autumn and I remember thinking if I lived nearby I’d join as I enjoyed it so much.

Whereswallywonka · 26/06/2022 12:28

I really like the center parc spas

StrawberriesAndCreamPlease · 26/06/2022 12:34

Not in the UK I’m afraid, but if you can spare a few days away on your own then the Lefay Spa resort on Lake Garda is spectacular.

It’s up north, but Rudding Park is incredible.

BrownHairedQuirk · 26/06/2022 13:25

SenSpa is lovely so I would vote for that too but also Champneys forest mere is my favourite. It’s gorgeous but very expensive so I’m always waiting for deals!

Is that the one near lip hook? My brother loves spas and it's one of his favourites too

If you fancy a trip to the Lakes, I would highly recommend Low Wood.

CakeParty · 26/06/2022 14:52

Chewton Glen

NightmareSlashDelightful · 26/06/2022 14:56

Gleneagles, although it misses your south-west criteria by about 500 miles.

sittingonacornflake · 26/06/2022 14:57

Scarlet spa. I felt incredible for about two weeks after a spa day there.

MsSquiz · 26/06/2022 14:58

Aqua Sana spas based at the Center Parcs locations are amazing. I love the choice of steam rooms they have, as well as the relaxation areas

balalake · 26/06/2022 16:16

@custardbear it is Sauna Van Egmond in Haarlem. Four saunas, a steam room you can lie down in, a small but warm swimming pool, food (they speak English and are very helpful) and an enclosed outside area.

Out of courtesy I should advise you that spas in the Netherlands are without swimwear. Women when I have been were the majority of people there, of all ages.

Nirvana day spa near reading. Always enjoy a day there. I like the many, many pools.

DameCelia · 26/06/2022 16:32

@StrawberriesAndCreamPlease
I've just priced up a week for two at LeFay, I want to go so much but 9k is just too much!!

Nirvana Spa, Reading, Berks

Onceuponatimethen · 26/06/2022 16:44

Definitely not Dormy House Hotel - it’s not really a spa. Just a hotel with a few overcrowded spa bits.
