Anyone else hate going to the hairdressers…?

I’m returning to a ‘snooty’ hair dresser tomorrow to get a good chop. She is the owner of the salon and very intense and opinionated. I’ve been 3 times before and each time I’m in the chair I promise myself never to return but it is just insufferable but alas after putting a hair cut off for 6 months I’m desperate for healthier hair again as she does actually make my hair look so thick and healthy. I’m going for a full wash, blow dry and style, do I bother washing my hair tonight or just go with it a bit greasy as it’ll be washed anyway?

Do hair dressers judge what we wear? I’m just wanting to go in a hoodie and joggers with no makeup, but would be worried she’ll think I’m a right tink, but for the prices I’m paying at the same time I don’t care!!

Anyone else hate going to the hair dressers?!

I have the same issue - my beauty shop owner started out helpful, but my hair is pretty damaged. I’m not handy with a blow dryer. I always feel I should “get my hair done” before I go to her! She makes comments I don’t need. If I knew what I was doing, I wouldn’t need her! Not sure how much longer I will keep going. She isn’t cheap, and often keeps me waiting! Feeling like an abused customer frankly!

I hate it, I last had mine cut for my father-in-law's funeral so just over 2 years ago. I wait until it's too long and then have it cut off.

I love my hairdresser! The staff at salon always very lovely.
Its a pampering and I always leave feeling amazing!

I hatecthe prices. I had to stop highlights as I was unwilling to pay £60-80 minimum...ouch!

Yep, would rather have a root canal done than go to the hairdressers! Tell them what you want then ask if you are ok to put earphones in as you want to finish an audiobook or something?

RampantIvy · 12/09/2024 20:36

What do you hate about having your hair cut @Augustone?

henlake7 · 12/09/2024 21:45

I hate it. I'm extremely short sighted and I have to take my glasses off. Means I can't see what they are doing, can't see their face which makes conversation difficult.
I get a wet cut to save time and get in and out as soon as possible!

You're going to the wrong hairdressers! I love mine. They give you a cup of tea / coffee / prosecco, a snack, you can relax with a podcast or a chat if that's more your thing, and actually get honest advice on your hair.

I don't understand why anyone would be offended on feedback and suggestions on their hair - you don't want dishonest flattery, surely? Hairdressers who know the craft can actually help you. Mine is invaluable

I wish I was good enough to cut and color my own hair. Its so annoying dealing with these people.
