Your new holiday clothes!

Can I be cheeky and ask you to show me some of the new clothes you will be taking on holiday this summer!!
I need some inspiration. Had a quick look round h&m at the weekend and it looked like I'd gone back to the 1990s!!
I have a wardrobe full of summer clothes but over the past year I've put weight on which is proving quite hard to shift, so it looks like I need to buy things that actually fit!!

@Precipice , seasalt have one of those tops sleeveless button down with a collar in 100% cotton. It's plaid. V soft and lovely but the colours didn't suit me.

Giggorata · 17/05/2022 08:35

I bought the cocoon chalk maxi dress from Laundry B, to sling on and wear with sliders or sandals. It is has sleeves, as I burn easily, but is loose and cool enough to waft about in.

anon2022anon · 17/05/2022 15:57

Ive found absolutely tons I like in h&m this year, great value too

Oversize shirt in the picture, with just a bright tshirt

Patterned jersey trousers and plain black
Maxi dress
Another linen mix dress not yet online

Gorgeous dress for £20, going to buy a black one too (size down)

On top of that I've bought a linen mix Massimo dutti blazer that I've been living in, and a white linen shirt from Asda. On the lookout for tops now

I needed this thread about a month ago!

Have painfully put together something passable with things I will wear again.

Here are a few links.

Next cap sleeve tshirts. These are fab and wash well and are thick enough not to show anything underneath including the white. Lots of colours.

www.next.co.uk/style/st423998/981678?dp=a&gclid=CjwKCAjwj42UBhAAEiwACIhADoz2bLgQgJoiFLQYdCslo8b4O6p9pNzgXGAdRYJ-1PkjjlvWq6HW5BoCu34QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#981678

Next bandeau top. I have this in flouro coral and its really fun. It looks good under sheer shirts as well. Wierdly ordered the white but felt a bit sheeny and not soft like the flouro coral so returned.

www.next.co.uk/style/st518798/121439?dp=a&gclid=CjwKCAjwj42UBhAAEiwACIhADtPloHmuwM124AQIondEgx_aGwSzHV2pfm7ePpU2Zaq0xLD_eQAayBoCcQUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#121439

Denim shorts.
I really loved these white ones from Fat Face, they fit great and look fab with bright tops.

www.fatface.com/women/clothing/shorts/denim-shorts/962708.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwj42UBhAAEiwACIhADgdKMxQ0pH_XGi5l3teWN2bOHdI95gae4FALEx-uoPqP1_5G37a3IRoC1ZQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&glCurrency=GBP&istBid=t%3FglCountry%3DGB&istCompanyId=079d57d6-0fc5-4bbf-a486-373c307934d0&istFeedId=0f8996ab-ce76-4a91-836e-0d1ac8489401&istItemId=pmlrwlqqm&s_kwcid=AL%219601%213%21586415649243%21%21%21u%21297414535428%21

I teemed the above shorts with this belt, slightly preppy look.

I also got some indigo denim shorts from White Stuff, found them flattering.

www.whitestuff.com/womens/shorts/mid-denim-sadie-denim-boyfriend-shorts/

Beach shirt from M&Co, see through but fine for the pool.

www.mandco.com/textured-beach-shirt-white/2205785.html?dwvar_2205785_color=0030&cgid=10010921#start=26

I found this sun hat in Hennes which manages to be neat but have a bit of a brim, but not too much. I then bought ribbons from Hobby Craft included a rainbow one to pimp it up.

www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1057731002.html

I tried to find different styles of plain vests and ended up with a few. I like racer style and cotton.

I got this from Arket in white - great quality, not too thin, or thick, and works with a lot. Obviously requires a strapless bra.

www.arket.com/en_gbp/women/tops/product.racer-tank-top-black.1062756002.html

I also got one of their cotton ribbed vests in white. This also comes in tomato red which is actually a burnt orange, it looks fab with white but was too strong for me. Again great quality.

www.arket.com/en_gbp/women/tops/product.rib-racer-tank-top-orange.0905140023.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwj42UBhAAEiwACIhADuCf4C_z8XI9zdpEJKVZeCovld48Kai1_xMfwOvERq5DDhLk5FAy1BoCuoYQAvD_BwE

A little pricier, and I ummed and ahhed but this vest from Hush does elevate a lot of outfits. It is big so size down. I got the small (size 12) but just ordered extra small to compare. Will keep small if too snug. Quite thick, excellent quality. I may develop a Hush habit after this.

www.johnlewis.com/hush-tura-halterneck-vest-top/p5542060

For evening wear I found this Zara skirt flattering. I am a pear and pleats hate me, but this doesn't. I am a 12 and bought L.

www.zara.com/uk/en/pleated-midi-skirt-p03564077.html?v1=156147127&v2=2025739

John Lewis have some great swimming costumes which my friend got.
Marks and Spencer has been hit and miss, but some of their ruched ones are good. I ended up with this bikini from Boden, as it's fun, not too loud. Swimwear is very personal though.

www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/high-waisted-bikini-bottoms-multi-horizon-terrace-bud/sty-s0192-mlt

The rest is charity shop and exisiting wardrobe.

anon2022anon · 18/05/2022 20:58

@PeacheyPeach I think for £25 it's an absolute bargain! Definitely looks more expensive

EmmaStone · 18/05/2022 21:32

I've done quite well in Cos - bought a couple of beautiful T shirts which are slightly cropped, so need to be worn with high waisted bottoms. Also a linen T, and a tube dress which is surprisingly forgiving!

I've recently been in Spain, and loved LOADS of stuff in Oysho. I came home with a swimming costume, a shorts PJ set and some great shorts. I also bought another linen T in Maximo Dutti.

I have to say, I always prefer buying hot weather clothes in a hot country - easier to find natural fabrics, and usually works out cheaper than at home.

https://www.next.co.uk/gl6292s6/r28982#r28982 this dress to wear over bikini or costume on the way to the beach

EllaPaella · 19/05/2022 16:56

I love this from River Island https://www.riverisland.com/p/pink-floral-shift-mini-dress-771519?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvIqCsPbr9wIVEbtCh1RyQBeEAQYCiABEgLszD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I've just ordered the black one . I have one in a gorgeous orange (M&S) and liked the black one but the buttons were beige which I didn't like .
This one looks from the photo to be black buttons so result

Riverlee · 19/05/2022 20:01

I don’t think my walking trousers for a holiday in Scotland is quite what you after, but who’d thought that good old M and S would have got so many mentions. Wouldn’t have happened a few short years ago.

PeacheyPeach · 20/05/2022 15:32

@SwimmingOnEggshells love them dresses so pretty. I think I need to buy more dresses this year instead of shorts. I find shorts quite uncomfortable really especially when I get hot!!!
@Riverlee m&s is fab isn't it. Love how they have tons of different choices.

irishcroi · 20/05/2022 16:01

Bought these today from H&M ....they're cropped but a little longer on me...thought they could be dressed up or down and have pockets too - and not sweat inducing.
