I've just picked up an dusky-pink jean-jacket in immaculate condition for £6 in the local Sally Army shop. Fits like a glove and absolutely my perfect colour. I am positively high on the buzz right now.

Tell me about your recent charity shop miracles. Let's celebrate pre-loved!!

This week I got a blue tweed jacket from Oxfam that fits me perfectly.

Few weeks ago I got a pink silk shirt.

Theres some lovely things in our local ones but I dont get chance to go round them all. (This week I had to get back before my car park ticket ran out without going in Cancer Research- that's often seems to be full of Boden clothes)

L.K. Bennett cropped tweed jacket with fringey bits, $6.99.
Karl Lagerfeld wool coat, $9.99.
ECCO Soft 7 side zip bootie, almost brand new, $6.99.

A beautiful black silk Jaeger dress, perfect for the evening; £30. (Although that doesn’t sound much like a bargain compared to the other prices on here!)

LadySpratt · 12/05/2022 05:44

Oh, and about 16 years after we got married, a couple of crystal candlestick holders from the same range as our wedding list. Didn’t know they even existed. £12.

Vicliz24 · 12/05/2022 06:00

Fab stories! I think I'd be delirious to find a blue tweed jacket in my size!

Have been swanning around in my new jacket all day and soaking up the compliments. 😁

A Denby Greenwich green teapot for £1.
Brand new Boden blue tweed blazer for £15.
Silk Reiss skirt for £1
I’ve had so many wonderful bargains over the years, I love charity shops!

Craftycorvid · 13/05/2022 08:26

Love a good charity shop bargain thread! Sadly, a lot of the really great ones round our way don’t seem to have much in them anymore.

Craftycorvid · 13/05/2022 08:27

That’s the shops....not the threads! This thread has lots of bargains in it! 🤣

toastfiend · 13/05/2022 08:58

I love charity and second hand shops.

My best bargain so far was relatively recent, a Temperley London dress for £45 from a second hand shop. The charity shops around here aren't brilliant, probably because lots of people take their stuff to the preloved shops instead, but I got a pair of Zara leather brogues for £8 the other day.

TheFlis12345 · 13/05/2022 09:11

A whole pile of brand new, boxed Liz Earle products (masks, cleansers, eye creams etc) from 50p to £3 each. I got about £300 worth for under 20 quid.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/05/2022 09:20

Best ever was a big pink Disney princess castle thing, for £8. Bought it when Gdd1 was 2 (now 7) and the now 3 Gdcs still play with it. If I don’t put it out when they’re visiting, they ask where it is!

And we’ve never yet had to replace the batteries (it plays Disney-film songs).

Also a lovely pale green casual jacket with a fleecy lining, evidently an expensive brand - however this was found by a sister in the US in a ‘thrift’ shop - too big for her so she asked whether I’d like it.

WhyPaulMemory · 13/05/2022 11:51

I post this in every charity shop thread because it was the find of my life and nothing will top it - a long black MaxMara cashmere coat, like new, for £25. And most importantly, my size :-)

Eyesofdisarray · 13/05/2022 12:03

I would love your jacket @Titsflyingsouth ; sounds fab.
I've had lots of bargains over the years- latest one being brand new M&S jacket (tags still on) £15
But lots of charity local charity shops charge silly prices like Primark stuff costing more than Primark but more bobbly 😳

adamsmallbone · 13/05/2022 21:45

The charity shops round my way aren’t brilliant so imagine my surprise when I managed to pick up not one, but two bargains today! A barely-worn pair of jeans and a Monsoon maxi skirt for a pound each! Haven’t tried them on yet but I’m well chuffed.

Cheeseandlobster · 13/05/2022 21:52

Loads of brand new Ted Baker clothing for ds when he was 3 including the most lovely jacket. All a pound each. He is 21 now and I still talk about it now as you can probably tell😁

DeeplyMovingExperience · 13/05/2022 22:01

I moved recently and you wouldn't believe the things I took to the charity shops. Stuff brand new with tags. Some fab collectibles, vases and interior stuff (we're downsizes and so much stuff we no longer had room for). Just today took a brand new pair of John Lewis curtains in and 2 swimming costumes unworn with tags.

I only ever take good things to the charity and really hope that they raise a bit of money.

DuchessSilver · 13/05/2022 22:09

Cashmere jumper in my fave colour for £3, delighted!

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 13/05/2022 22:27

My best most loved beautiful bargain ever was a pair of Ravel leopard skin ankle boots. Bought them over 20 years ago. Now sadly departed despite a couple of minor ops at the cobblers for free! A bit of glue! In the end they were held together by the stickiness of a thousand dance floors. Letting them go was a kindness.
They were leather. But furry-skin if you know what I mean. Many years before the world and his wife were wearing leopard boots. They would get compliments from strangers and I loved them dearly. Sadly I found them too high for me in the end having had my ds and going out out so much less. I will never forget them. RIP my beautiful boots.
Oh and they my were a fiver from Cancer Research!

purdypuma · 15/05/2022 10:53

I've managed to pick up a vintage Versace handbag for £2.50 this week. Needs a little bit of tlc but well pleased with my find! Probably about in excess of 70% of my wardrobe is bought from charity shops/second hand. Saves me a fortune & sustainable 😀
