I've just picked up an dusky-pink jean-jacket in immaculate condition for £6 in the local Sally Army shop. Fits like a glove and absolutely my perfect colour. I am positively high on the buzz right now.

Tell me about your recent charity shop miracles. Let's celebrate pre-loved!!

I bought a country casuals silk chiffon dress, it was 16 years ago. It would have retailed for about 150 but was a tenner. I wore it to about six different weddings over two years.

a Karen Millen dress, I wasn’t especially keen on Karen Millen as a lot of it was just too flashy but this was a lovely black crepe dress that had a dipped hem at the back. Again years ago, wore it to many a night out.

100% cashmere cardigan from Pure for £6.99, unworn. It was lovely.

I have paid it forward x 100 or so though, as I recently took four bin bags full of clothes to the local charity shops it contained lots of Boden, M&S, phase eight stuff still with tags on. I’d bought optimistic sizes!

A lot of people flagging designer bargains they've found. Have never found anything designer myself. Curious - in your opinion does the quality of the designer gear justify the hype? Is it genuinely better or is it that just a myth?

I read a book recently that talked about Burberry and Louis Vuitton burning tons of unsold clothes because they wouldn't want to tarnish their brand by selling cheaper and have it worn by the average man/woman in the street. 😡

Gorgeous mother of the bride outfit 😍

Also, the bride's wedding dress!

I am in Australia so dollars.
I got a brand new with tags Nicola finetti dress ($899 on tags) for..... $1! And the same dress in a different fabric for $5. That was a good day 🤣

Today I got a Phase Eight silk top and a gorgeous Religion top for £2.50 each. Both would have retailed for £50 - £80 each when new.

I've only ever sound one designer bargain which was a Burberry trench coat for £20, it was way too long for me it touched the floor so I didn't buy it.

I don't usually see many designer items but I do buy a lot of more casual clothing from charity shops and I love a good charity shop blazer too.

I've had much more success with eBay though! Once you've traipsed through all the crap there can be some really good bargains on there.

I used to work in a charity shop and some of the stuff we got in was amazing. I remember we would sometimes have to throw even very expensive stuff away if it had slight stains etc.
Once we had a bag of about 20 lovely mens designer suits Paul Smith etc - I'm not sure if it was someone who had died or a disgruntled wife had donated them in revenge of a cheating husband or something!
I live in a very "naice" area with lots of wealthy people and you can get some real bargains if you're lucky.

My own best bargains over the last couple of years are:

a 100% silk strapless Day Birger et Mikkelsen dress in a lovely coral colour for £15 - I'm planning to take it on holiday in a couple of weeks

a pair of still-tagged Ralph Lauren white skinny jeans for £10 that I wear all the time

never worn Barbour wellies and Dubarry deck shoes for dh - both about £4 each.

But the best bargain of all was a Burberry Mac bought for about £25 a few years back in a charity shop in Chester. It looks unworn and I was shocked they had priced it so low but snapped it up!
