I was given a free sample of SJP's "lovely" and honestly I could not believe it was a perfume. It smelt like a mixture of toilet cleaner and vinegar. BUT I think it is not just the person that wears a perfume and how it smells on them, but also the smeller - we all have a different sense of smell and the same smell can be nice to one person and awful to another.

A colleague of mine always smelled divine and carried a mahoosive bottle of perfume in her handbag, so I asked her what it was, (CK Eternity) and she offered me a squirt. It smelled like stinky old fags on me! Blurgh

I was given Estee Lauder's Youth Dew as a teenager - far too heavy for someone so young - brown too !

why would people want to buy a perfume 'created' by Britney,Jade Goody,Colleen thing,Beckhams,Kate Moss ? I can't fathom it...

Angel is the worst ever and my girls come back smelling of it after a trip to MIL's.

Oh, thought of another one. It's by Clinique and called something like Elixir. It is truly vile and smells like ditchwater.

I used to have that Clinique Elixir,which I loved at the time but now I smell it and think it's far too heavy and strong - it lingers forever

Til Kate Moss came along Narcisse (sp?) by Chloe was the worst. If you ate a load of cheap boiled sweets, threw them up and bottled it, that would be Narcisse.

Ha ha ha, I used to wear Narcisse and thought it was gorgeous. Luckily I grew out of sickly sweet scents!

We all make mistakes - in my teens I wore Loulou. Now it makes me retch.

another vote for Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. DH bought it for me and I thought how nice - till is smelled it, yuck!

Little brother (age 20 so not that little really) bought me the Paris Hilton box set for Christmas and I could have cried. I am sure he went into The Perfume Shop and got the cheapest crap he could find. Mum got Britney Spears. We both sat there with fixed grin, thanking him profusely, and pissed ourselves laughing when he left the room. They both smell awful - so sweet and sickly.

Remember all the vile perfumes from youth, Tweed by Lentheric, Just Jasmine, Just Musk, bloody White Musk and Dewberry from Body Shop, Charlie in the blue bottle, Exclamation urrgh

BIL wears Joop, which is a man's fragrance, but I HATE it, and I love BIL dearly.

Agree about Chanel No. 5, it smells like a cross between talc and little old ladies to me, yuck yuck yuck! But Poison has to be the absolute worst one ever. My friend used to love it when we were teenagers (this was in the Eighties though, in her defence), until she broke a bottle of it on the floor of her bedroom - it reeked so badly for months she had to move out of the room.

Victoria Beckham's perfume, Intimately Beckham or whatever, is truly vile too, but I think the David Beckham aftershave is quite nice.

I stopped wearing Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers a few years ago because my sister said it smelled of cat's piss! She thinks Angel smells like hash too .

I got a bottle of Chanel Chance for Christmas, which I luurve. Also like Angel or Dune for evenings, and L'eau de Issey for daytime.

Kittylouise - GOD yes the Bodyshop ones, remember walking down the halls of school passing groups of pubescent girls and all you could smell was White Musk, Dewberry, Mandarin etc etc
