I have been through them all. Despite following the instructions inc about shaving and exfoliating and moisturising etc I can NOT get an even nice colour?! Is there one that adapts to your skin??

Looking at that photo my arm doesn't look tanned at all! 🙄 can't get a good light.

PepeSilviaDoesNotExist · 24/04/2022 16:26

I recently had to buy emergency tan as forgot to pack it on my travels. The only tan I could find was the colour correcting St Moriz. I reluctantly bought it as I had a bad experience on my last go with st moriz, as it was really patchy, but honestly this stuff surprised me. Nice colour and came up very even.

Like PPs I always go for dark as the colour is nicer. You only need one layer.

My normal go to tan is fake bake but it’s getting harder to buy.

Brawoe1 · 24/04/2022 16:28

@PepeSilviaDoesNotExist tell me more, colour correcting?! Sounds good!

I'd love someone to explain gradual tan for me. It seems like you still have to apply carefully with a mitt or you'll get streaking and wash your hands afterwards. So why not just do a regular fake tan rather than faff about every day?

EllaPaella · 23/04/2022 21:07

Kabuki brush is a good tip, does it prevent it going patchy over knees and ankles?

I find it does. You can really buff the colour around your feet and hands so they don't look orange.

@WildFlowerBees and you don’t go patchy? I go patchy even with gradual tan! Takes a couple so days for colour and then patchy! I exfoliate and moisturise so I don’t understand!

I think the other thing to add is that I never moisturise before fake tan. Only around my ankles, knees and elbows and even then only very lightly. I find it works better on dry smooth skin.

VanCleefArpels · 24/04/2022 17:29

I disagree - have always used gradual tan and never had issues with application or streaks (unlike with “proper” fake tan). I put it on as an after shower moisturiser every 2-3 days during the summer and it never looks alarming. Even when we are in a sunny holiday I prefer to shade bathe and use the gradual tan to get a good colour to come home with

NoMoreLimbo · 24/04/2022 17:33

For body Dove Dermaspa and face Tanning drops in my normal face cream

ManifestingMaureen · 24/04/2022 22:43

Do you just continually top up with a gradual tan? Or do you have to scrub it all off once a week like with normal fake tan?

Brawoe1 · 25/04/2022 06:49

@VanCleefArpels which one do you use please? I’m the sun, never sun bathe.

Another vote for Dove.

seensome · 25/04/2022 08:04

At Tropez express tanning mousse, depending how dark you want, I'm fair and just want a glow so leave it on for 45 mins, wash off, moisturise and it lasts a week.
Or palmers gradual tan is good.

Iamblossom · 25/04/2022 08:37

This is the best one I have used. I put it on at night and wash it off in the morning. I wear pjs so it doesn't come off on sheets

VanCleefArpels · 25/04/2022 09:28

@Brawoe1 i use Evolve gradual tan - it’s brilliant but spendy. Next fav and v budget friendly is Superdrug own brand (pink packaging)

Livpool · 25/04/2022 16:44

I like Skinny Tan Wonder Serum and the Superdrug Solait Dark Tanning Water

Jumperbumper · 25/04/2022 17:41

Personally I don't think you can beat st tropez it always works perfectly for me Grin

29ac · 25/04/2022 17:46

I think it’s really dependent as a seasoned fake tanner there are some that other people rave about that are truly awful on me (skinny tan of any variety, I’m looking at you!).

My personal favourites are the St Tropez Express Mousse and the Revolution Deluxe Mousse. I always opt for the darkest colour tan, in the express I either leave it on for 3 hours or just leave it on overnight and the deluxe I have ultra dark.

Brawoe1 · 25/04/2022 20:06

@29ac i would look awful in any dark shade though as I’m so pale and surely patches show up even more and it will wear off even more noticeable than the lightest shade?

Try the Lancôme flash bronzer leg gel. It washes off gradually. I have tried tons of them and this (for me) is the best.

imagine being a fake tan tester, that would be a great job!!!

29ac · 26/04/2022 08:32

@Brawoe1 Not all fake tans wear off patchy, the st tropez one just fades on me. Skinny tan however makes me look like a reptile. If you don’t want it to go as dark just leave it on for less time. I’m very fair in the winter and the dark shades don’t look bad at all. It might just be trial and error until you find the one that works well on your skin.

PepeSilviaDoesNotExist · 27/04/2022 22:30

@Brawoe1 it was this one - St Moriz

I found it dries really fast so I had to be quick but I did like the Color

PepeSilviaDoesNotExist · 27/04/2022 22:30

Colour** bloody phone

Vohgue · 28/04/2022 00:54

St Tropez express is by far the best. It fades well, lasts over a week on me.

I think moisturiser might be where you are going wrong - you only need to moisturise knees, elbows and ankles/feet. Dont do anywhere else (for at least 24 hours before). The moisturiser interferes with the colour.
