Singing the praises of Nivea Soft

Honestly this stuff is amazing. I've had to go without for about a week as Home Bargains (£1.79 a tube!) had run out and it's made me realise how good it is. I've developed drier skin as a 46 year old and although I've used it for years Nivea Soft seems to have come into its own since that's happened. I do use a thicker night cream, then a lighter day cream (both Aldi Caviar) but then a slather of Nivea on top. It really makes foundation go on brilliantly for me, even gives my skin the fabled "dewy" look. If I don't have it as a form of extra moisture/primer, foundation sits badly (usually pills) and my skin dries out quicker over the course of the day.

It feels like one of those "well kept secret" el cheapo products that everyone should know about.

How much difference is there when using specific shaving soap and ordinary bathrrom bars of soap?

In this case there was a huge difference, it’s almost like an oil and no rash..

It's not cruelty free, just looked online if anyone else was interested...shame, as it sounds fab and cheap!

PlayingGrownUp · 25/03/2022 21:36

You may want to check if it’s because it’s sold in China. The Chinese government reserves rights to test any products on animals for health and safety reasons so any products sold there can’t be described as cruelty free even if the companies themselves have followed the regulations.

I’ve got both the Nivea eau de toilette sprays and can confirm the white one smells exactly like Nivea moisturiser and the yellow ‘sun’ one smells just like Nivea sun cream.😍 They’re not strong or long lasting but are good for a freshening spritz and that gorgeous familiar smell! I especially like putting the white one on after a shower - makes you smell freshly Nivea clean!

I have the perfume parlour Nivea oil and it last all day if you want something longer lasting.

Also love it. Have sensitive, rosacea flare prone facial skin but this gives just the right amount of moisturisation with no flare ups. Cheap enough and with a suitable
consistency to use on body too though for me that's only occasional.

Dodie66 · 25/03/2022 23:41

Tesco sell it. Off to buy some thanks

milkyaqua · 25/03/2022 23:54

I love the texture but it smells like Brut.

peachgreen · 26/03/2022 00:34

Nivea Soft completely cleared up my DD's eczema when nothing else would. It also seemed to be the only thing besides Vaseline that didn't sting her - even E45 did.

I'm going to try it on my face now!

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 26/03/2022 06:46

I have been using it for years now, after going away and forgetting my moisturiser. I picked up a tube in a ‘corner shop’ as it was the only possible solution and never looked back.

CisMyArse · 26/03/2022 06:56

Also been using Nivea Soft for years. Love it.

That said, I've been trying to find out about retinol and other serums because, despite having never smoked, I have developed fine creases around my lips that are getting worse.

Maybe I'll slather some Nivea blue there.

CisMyArse · 26/03/2022 06:57

Actually, the animal testing is a real issue for me Sad

Loyal fan here.

LOVE IT. Always been a holy grail product for me. They sell big tubs for less than a fiver in Home Bargains and B&M. I wash out my small travel pot when it's empty and refill it from a big tub.

I've also been tempted by fancier stuff that's never as good. I do switch for a gel moisturiser in summer but have never found anything as amazing as Nivea Soft.

JMAngel1 · 26/03/2022 08:23

Ooh I'm tempted to try it - I thought I'd found my HG, Cerave, in the big tub but always up for trying cheaper options.
Has anyone thought Nivea Soft better than Cerave cream? (Cerave to be fair is fantastic - I can use tretinoin every night since finding it but the tub is clumsy in my bathroom and the NS would work out cheaper)

duvetdrama · 26/03/2022 10:05

@PlayingGrownUp yes, it is sold in China so unfortunately not cruelty free...

sadlyunminted · 19/04/2022 09:10

I don't like the scent of Nivea Soft.
