Singing the praises of Nivea Soft

Honestly this stuff is amazing. I've had to go without for about a week as Home Bargains (£1.79 a tube!) had run out and it's made me realise how good it is. I've developed drier skin as a 46 year old and although I've used it for years Nivea Soft seems to have come into its own since that's happened. I do use a thicker night cream, then a lighter day cream (both Aldi Caviar) but then a slather of Nivea on top. It really makes foundation go on brilliantly for me, even gives my skin the fabled "dewy" look. If I don't have it as a form of extra moisture/primer, foundation sits badly (usually pills) and my skin dries out quicker over the course of the day.

It feels like one of those "well kept secret" el cheapo products that everyone should know about.

Its really great. I don't use all the time as experimenting with some different creams at the moment but I really like it. I watched a BBC show on make up a few years back and in science lab tests it performed better than All other moisturisers.

Mrsrai · 25/03/2022 16:20

Nivea soft on my face (& body if I'm being lazy) in the mornings.
Nivea creme on my face every night.
Both amazing.
Got a big pot of each & a small travel one too.

KirstenBlest · 25/03/2022 16:20

@Fluffruff

Just to be clear, you use it on your face? Or body? Trots off to the shops to get some.
Face and body
JenniferBarkley · 25/03/2022 16:27

Yes I really like it too, I use it every morning.

Scandisaurus22 · 25/03/2022 17:05

If I use it on my face I break out, I have sensitive skin. But I wish they would make a body spray, I’d wear it all the time!

ouch321 · 25/03/2022 17:24

Yeah used it for years. Also use Blue Nivea pot over night as a face mask.

My skin can be quite dry after using Roac a little while back.

Simple is also good, less heavy than Nivea.

Astral is ok but greasier.

You may also like E45.

I've tried all the old school cremes!!

ArabeI · 25/03/2022 17:25

@Scandisaurus22 you buy a Nivea fragrance spray from Perfume Parlour (online perfume dupe place if you haven't heard of it). Apparently it's called Snowing, having checked.

MrsTimRiggins · 25/03/2022 17:25

Bloody fantastic gear, wouldn’t use anything else

ArabeI · 25/03/2022 17:26

*can buy

ArabeI · 25/03/2022 17:28

I sometimes use Nivea Soft over an oil if my skin is feeling particularly dry. It's nice and light.

OMG Nivea fragrance spray?! I knew knew about that. Must get some!

Ncwinc · 25/03/2022 17:32

I can’t even use it as a hand cream because if I touch my face when it’s on my hands my skin reacts horribly.

duvetdrama · 25/03/2022 17:34

Sounds like I could use some of this at the moment...is it cruelty free does anyone know?

Yeah I have both the Snowing perfume and oil, it smells just like the blue Nivea (but a lot stronger) and is great. Really recommend that and the Dove perfume. But I really love the Nivea Soft smell..!

ArabeI · 25/03/2022 17:39

Ah, Blue Nivea!

I too bought some of the Dove perfume spray a couple of years ago to try and it's uncannily similar.

MinglingFlamingo · 25/03/2022 17:41

I love Nivea Soft. A big tub lasts forever and it leaves my skin moisturised for ages and doesn't feel greasy or sticky

It's also a nice handcream if I don't have a specific handcream to hand

I also have a tiny jar which is great for travelling. Think I got it one of those French supermarkets which sell everything

purplesequins · 25/03/2022 17:43

I like the texture but I can't get over the strong smell.

smells of headache to me.

Scandisaurus22 · 25/03/2022 17:43

I’ve had so many people asking me what perfume I wear when it’s just the Dove one. It’s a bit strong though, so you have to be careful. But it’s lovely. It’s extremely similar.
DejaVoodoo · 25/03/2022 17:45

Dove perfume too? That's my birthday sorted!

Scandisaurus22 · 25/03/2022 17:45

Italian Currency is also fantastic!!

Bigtom · 25/03/2022 17:49

I bought this in a supermarket on holiday when my case when missing … I haven’t bought anything else since, it’s fab and super cheap too Smile

walkersareback · 25/03/2022 17:58

I used to also like Astral soft but it's very expensive at the moment. Used to be cheap as chips in Superdrug but can only see it at Amazon now but at £7 per tube - used to be £1.99

SoManyTshirts · 25/03/2022 17:59

I use Nivea soft on my body and their facial moisturiser with SPF on my face, it’s not expensive. Blue Nivea is too heavy for me.

RampantIvy · 25/03/2022 18:08

I find Nivea moisturisers too greasy for me, and they sit on top of my skin. Howeveer, the cleanser is lovely (and smells gorgeous) and so are the sunscreens.

Scandisaurus22 · 25/03/2022 18:20

The Nivea body shaving stick (for men but who cares) is really, really good, even for sensitive skin.
