Lemon perfume - can’t remember the name!

About 18 years ago I was given a lemon perfume - it smelt pretty much of pure lemon. Maybe a bit of perfumed lemon Grin

Anyway, at the time I wasn’t overwhelmed, but my nose has changed and I thought I might like it. I can’t work out what it was though!

Yellow and white box, normal sort of perfume styling, you’d be able to get it in duty free. Not Lancôme O. That’s all I’ve got.

Any ideas? I’ve looked on Fragrantica.

@Feargalthecat

Was it this? I always love a lemon fragrance and used to wear this although I can't remember what it smells like. I used to love cracking the joke of when people said I smelled nice what is it and I could answer it's Oui Grin
I loved this and couldn't remember what it was called, so thanks! It was so fresh and light but hard to describe the actual scent

Tommy Girl also a good shout, crossed my mind too!

Yardley Eau de Love?

Riseholme · 21/03/2022 20:29

Origins ginger essence smells very lemony.

Sorry this one
Ooh! That’s the kind of textured glass I remember! I think I might be remembering the box wrong.

I think that’s it!

This is how I remember it too - would've been about 1998/99 for me
SheWoreYellow · 21/03/2022 20:32

But the description for Oui isn’t very lemony?

Another Lancôme suggestion, O d’Azur? Fragrantica says main notes amalfi lemon and bergamot.

purplesequins · 21/03/2022 20:37

I think I know what you mean.

I was given a set of a shower gel & body lotion around the same time. square bottles.
smelled really like lemons, not artificial.

weleda citrus deodorant comes close but has lemon balm undertones - not quite as fresh.

SheWoreYellow · 21/03/2022 20:38

I think all the Lancôme packaging has changed. I found this. So maybe it is O. I’ll look at d’azur too.

I think I’ll need to go and have a sniff of a few, but I think I’m close.

Thanks so much everyone!

I will look at the other suggestions too when I’m trying out.

I sat next to someone at University many years ago who smelt of lemons. I never plucked up the courage to ask her what she wore but I’d love to track it down. I’ve never forgotten it.

opoponax · 21/03/2022 20:59

Penhaligon's Quercus is lovely if you like lemon based fragrance.

i1.wp.com/dalybeauty.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/mary-greenwell-lemon-21.jpg?resize=768%2C654&ssl=1 This? It has been discontinued, but comes up on EBay.

MissBattleaxe · 21/03/2022 21:03

Was it Aqua Citra? It was a sister scent to Aqua Manda. Pure lemon.

MissBattleaxe · 21/03/2022 21:08

It looked like this

I used O' de Lancome in the early 90s. Light and citrussy and the bottle was just as Feargal posted. L'Ocitane lemon verbena is much more lemony - I have a bottle now from a gift set.

Since then op I've worked through Hypnose, the one advertised by Emma Watson, Cartier's Basler Vole, Dior's Blooming Bouquet, Estee Modern Muse eau de Parfum, back to J'Adore and Carter La Panthere for evenings. My tastes have aged with me.

It doesn't answer your question but, if you want a pure lemon fragrance, Monotheme Venezia make single note citrus perfumes - lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, orange blossom, bergamot etc. M&S stock them.

CutesyUserName · 21/03/2022 21:35

Your description is exactly the perfume I fell in love with in the 80s and set me on the path of a lifelong love affair with citrus scents. It was O' de Lancome. I recently purchased a new bottle and it's nothing like the original, sadly.

However, if you liked that, try Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana (blue box and lid). It is very similar to the original O' DL. I have the 'intense' version. I've also got L'Ocitane Lemon Verbena but Light Blue is much nicer in my opinion.

Another that is very similar is a men's aftershave - Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio. Absolutely lemon heaven.
