Need an outfit for a funeral, everything I've found online is out of stock in my size.

What size and style are you after?

Thoosa · 09/03/2022 21:51

You want us to source black dresses for you?!

Pyri · 09/03/2022 21:54

Ummm what’s your size?

thebigpurpleone · 09/03/2022 21:57

I'm not really in my right mind. I'm a size 10 and just feel overwhelmed.

Ignore the smart arses. What style suits you? Length, sleeves? Budget? Are you on the UK mainland for delivery?

polkadotpjs · 09/03/2022 22:03

Yes do ignore them. Have you an idea of what you want ? Size?

HeddaGarbled · 09/03/2022 22:04

Ok, you don’t necessarily need a black dress. Any dark plain colour will be fine. Trousers or skirt also fine. If you don’t have anything already, you can get black trousers everywhere including supermarkets.

DeadButDelicious · 09/03/2022 22:07

What size are you? If you let us know the cut and length you are looking for I'm sure we can find you something. I'm sorry for your loss. Thanks

DeadButDelicious · 09/03/2022 22:08

Just seen size 10! Ignore me!

intheblightgarden · 09/03/2022 22:08

Just find anything black or navy or generally subdued in your wardrobe and wear that. No need to overwhelm yourself at this difficult time with extra shopping tasks

What’s smart arse about it? We were confused by a bald “I need a black dress”. Shops are awash with black dresses.

Yes this.

If you’re not up to shopping, don’t force yourself. Anything somber is fine.

WeirdlyKind · 09/03/2022 22:20

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my aunt last weekend. Bought a smart dress from Vinted.

CharacterForming · 09/03/2022 22:22

I'm sorry OP.

To be fair it is reasonably tricky.
Marks and Spencer for example have 166 "black" dresses but the overwhelming majority have patterns on them, or are inappropriate in some other way.
about this though [[https://www.marksandspencer.com/tie-front-midi-skater-dress/p/clp60528153?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share]]

HereBdragons · 09/03/2022 22:23

@Thoosa do you really need us to explain that to you? OP is feeling overwhelmed. Not exactly uncommon after a bereavement. Go find someone else to be rude to. The shoe threads are good for that. Or basically anything in AIBU. Let the helpful posters handle this one.

AmbushedByCake · 09/03/2022 22:24

Nice dress, who on earth styled it with those shoes? Shock

bloodywhitecat · 09/03/2022 22:30

The first few responses put me off posting a similar thread asking for help in choosing an outfit for a funeral. The funeral is for my husband and I am barely putting one foot in front of the other most of the time, the thought of shopping for a dress is overwhelming and I have nothing suitable in my wardrobe as I am a jeans and top kinda person. I think if I had posted and got similar responses I'd be in tears right now.

AmbushedByCake · 09/03/2022 22:38

@bloodywhitecat Flowers I have read some of your threads and am really sorry about your husband. Please don't let some people who are clearly devoid of any empathy put you off. If you have a Next account I really recommend filtering by your size, ordering anything halfway decent looking, trying on at home then sending back all but one. It's what I did when my aunt died quite suddenly last year.

I actually thought part of the post was missing or something.

Take your own advice and stop sniping and bitching on a funeral thread.

catfunk · 09/03/2022 22:49

Op I've just bought this from cos and it looks great on. Very practical but stylish. Lots of wiggle room size wise as they're not too fitted.
