Dungarees 👀

Verity226 · 08/03/2022 19:30

I'm 28, a mother of 3.

I've been eyeing up dungarees since last year. My OH thought that was quite amusing as our toddlers have many pairs and so he associate's them to said toddlers.

I finally thought 'fuck it' I like them so bought some today, denim.

Would you wear denim dungarees or do you think they're best left for the kids 😂

@ShowOfHands

I'm wearing those dinosaur dungarees right now

I also wear ones with bees on and sloths and foxes and galaxies and plain ones and bright ones and dark ones.

Life's too short to worry about other people's opinions of your own happiness.

Of course, you're absolutely right but op cared enough to make a post to ask for opinions so people have given theirs!

I don't care enough for any opinions to stop me wearing them, I was just curious what other people thought aside OH.

I just find them so comfortable and they have amazing pockets.
Whatever I wear, dd says I look like a kindergarten teacher so I may as well be comfy.
I have 3 different dinosaur ones.
Also mushrooms, foxes, universe etc

If you wear a slim fit wooly jumper under them they're great in the winter.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/03/2022 23:15

I’m late 40s, size 10/12, and have black denim and tan cord dungarees. I find that they only really work (on me) in summer with bare ankles and trainers, but love them then. I am not mad keen on the patterns or overly baggy styles personally, but I think plain colours/denim can look great.

I have the mushroom ones but haven’t worn them yet, I have the same print in a pinafore too, I don’t care what people think I look like, I have got to age where I no longer dress to fit in 🤣. I have a friend (male) that wears them too, we get lots of nice comments when we are out together wearing them.
broccolibush · 09/03/2022 08:01

I live in them. They’re comfortable and allow for free movement and don’t pinch and have loads of pockets. Can’t get enough. I have dinosaur ones and bright coloured cord ones and galaxy ones and all sorts (including ones covered in vulvas I’m not bold enough to wear). I don’t particularly care if I look like a toddler or not though.

That said I think you can dress them up too - I wore navy cord ones with a flowered shirt (that I stole from DH) and statement jewellery and heels and had lots of compliments on how I looked.

Go for them OP. If you don’t like them stick them on eBay and you’ll probably get most of your money back.

Fleur405 · 09/03/2022 08:05

I bought a pair of while pregnant because everything with a waistband was super uncomfortable and I’m 100% keeping them.

I think you should embrace the toddlerness - Turtle Dove to matching mummy and baby ones! 😂

ouch12345 · 09/03/2022 08:06

I love a pair of Dungers!!! I think they look fab!

Dungarees 👀
Pigtailsandall · 09/03/2022 08:36

I have a pair of fitted denim dungarees and that's enough for me. I do love them but going to loo is a hassle.
Personally I'd steer away from colours and patterns but my taste is fairly toned down anyway. I also never pair them with stripes because I feel like that look is pretty done and personally I associate it with the yummy mummy battalion of north London

justasoul · 09/03/2022 08:45

I love dungarees, mine are from gap but yesterday I saw a friend wearing a Lucy and Yak one and it looked nice. Not with striped tops though, OP…

It's a no from me, I didn't even force them on my son.

FayCarew · 09/03/2022 13:41

A definite Yes from me

LouisaMayAlcott · 09/03/2022 13:44

I'm 61 and have some from Fat Face and I love them. Much more comfortable than jeans imo

balalake · 09/03/2022 15:24

Wouldn't wear them myself, but some look very good in them, especially in bright colours.

Gonnagetgoing · 09/03/2022 15:41

I personally don't like them - but DM has taken to wearing Lucy and Yak ones in the past few years and loves them - apart from a denim pair that was too big for her.

Craftycorvid · 10/03/2022 19:49

Toast dungas are smart and fitted but very pricey! If you style fitted dungas in a dark indigo denim wash with a shirt or lace blouse and a tailored jacket, absolutely no hint of toddler. On the other hand, I wouldn’t care if something made me feel happy whenever I wore it.

FayCarew · 10/03/2022 20:10

I posted this link on another thread earlier.

Beaar in mind the model id 5'9" and size 8 but they look great on her

Verity226 · 10/03/2022 20:25

I'm 5'3 and a size 12 (14 in some places) so considerably more dumpy than most of the models online. I have a 4mo baby and still carrying a fair bit of excess Blush

However I've undergone a mental shift recently, after spending a couple of months feeling crap about my new body I've decides to embrace it for what it is and wear what I like.

I follow a lady on social media who's considerably bigger than me and she looks incredible in everything she wears, even dungs Grin

I don’t like them at all. Always reminds me of the Harry Enfield big baby sketch. I don’t think they suit large boobs, and they can make your arse look massive. But everyone should wear what THEY like.

elliesmummy19 · 11/03/2022 09:20

Love dungarees and don't give a crap what anyone thinks of me wearing them.

ShowOfHands · 11/03/2022 09:24

I'm wearing fox dungarees today.

I can't bring myself to worry about the size of my arse. It's seen me through 41yrs, I'm happy to clad it in clothes that make me smile.

Wailywailywaily · 11/03/2022 09:28

I’m always very envious of people in dungarees, I think that they look great on a slim fugue and a larger figure. I got so envious that I bought myself some denim ones from Anthropology and now I live in them. #teamdunagaree

Jansobieski · 11/03/2022 10:09

I've got a few pairs. Make me look bigger than I am tbh.
I think they've become 'go to' for women of a certain age (late 40s - 60s) who want to look alternative (and I say that as one).

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/03/2022 10:17

I love mine. I have three denim pairs, a navy corduroy pair, a navy linen pair and a cream cotton pair. I tend to prefer them plain, though, rather than the more bright/lively Lucy and Yak style.
