@BlackCoffeeInAPoolOfSunshine

LightsoftheNorth its a patern makers thing - we learnt it in textiles at school 97 million years ago for patern making.
Mmm, but I bet the rules defining exactly how many inches smaller a woman's waist must be were invented by a male designer.
LightsoftheNorth · 06/03/2022 11:41

And just to say again OP, you look absolutely great

Sheeeeeysh · 06/03/2022 11:43

I completely understand Douglas!

LightsoftheNorth I don't know - what I do agree with is what DouglasCrood says - being an apple shape is every bit as good as being an hourglass. Actually its better in some ways - real hourglasses struggle with the fit of trousers unless they have them made. Its really only a perfect figure for dresses.

Its actually a symptom of entrenched misogyny to think there's anything superior about hourglass body types. It should be a value neutral description.

In can confirm.. 14 inch difference in my bust-waist-hips measurement (40 26 40) and I live in dresses or leggings for this exact reason. It's a bit crap.

I have not worn jeans for years!!

Hourglass I think. You have a defined waist.

CambsAlways · 06/03/2022 21:05

Wow what a transformation well done, I’m not sure you are an hourglass though

BiscuitLover3678 · 06/03/2022 21:19

Ahhh you look great! Perfect hourglass.

Sheeeeeysh · 06/03/2022 22:14

Such difference of opinions 😂

@Sheeeeeysh

Such difference of opinions 😂
Grin it's hard to say I think, especially just based on two pics and also since some people genuinely think apple shapes have waists bigger than their hips and boobs, which I would say is not true for most apples unless very overweight.

Maybe someone irl could tell you?

The problem is though that friends etc won't say apple as they probably think it's insulting 🙄😂.

Apple doesn't equal very large with no waist and big tummy. Angelina Jolie is an apple ffs! And obviously I look exactly like her Wink

I'm sure some places will assess you and tell you your specific shape and what suits you. But you'd need to pay for it. Or could you do a personal shopping type experience and see if they could advise on what suits you? You don't have to buy anything, or you could maybe buy one or two things but keep to a budget.

I do think we end up talking at cross purposes on here sometimes. I look at your pics and think "apple", but many others think hourglass. If you came on with no pictures and said "I'm a size 18 (or whatever) hourglass / apple and I want a dress for an event", people would advise you based on the shape you've mentioned which clearly means different things to different people 🙃. I had no idea when I started threads saying I was apple shape some people envisaged someone whose waist was bigger than their boobs and hips for example.

Maybe it's all pretty meaningless and we just need to try things on 🤷‍♀️

HailAdrian · 06/03/2022 22:26

I really really like your outfits.

DouglasCrood · 06/03/2022 22:29

And regardless of what shape you are, you look lovely! But that doesn't help with your question or shopping mission

BungleandGeorge · 06/03/2022 22:46

You look amazing well done! That first dress looks fab on you. I’d say a curvy rectangle. Hourglass has a bigger difference between waist and bust/ hips and you look like you have slender thighs and legs.

Sheeeeeysh · 07/03/2022 08:45

I really really like your outfits.
Thanks. Spent years in black leggings and oversized Tshirts!

Hourglass.

BusterGonad · 08/03/2022 17:49

My shape is not dissimilar to yours op, are your legs toned and quite skinny? If yes then you could be a goblet. 😂 I'm a goblet. Tall, big boobs, good shoulders, not too much of a waist, slim hips and bum. All my weight goes to my midriff. 🤷‍♀️
