Beyond CK One, what other scents have their origins in the 90’s? I’m off to a 90’s night and would love to complete the look with the right smell (cigarettes and alcohol aside!).

I’ve just remembered that I wore Tresor to my 5th form Valentine’s ball. I’m not sure what I was thinking - I’d find it far too heavy to wear now let alone for a 15 year old.

Therunecaster · 03/03/2022 19:39

Paris and LeJardin by Max Factor. I had the day and night version and thoughts I was the cats whiskers!

tinkywinkyshandbag · 03/03/2022 19:41

Anais Anais or Body Shop Dewberry

Oh the nostalgia on this thread! I can actually smell some of these in my head and feel the memories!

Definitely CKone - totally iconic, everyone wore this, it was unisex
Cool water - all the boys wore this, I had the ladies one a bit later
Cerruti - gift from now DH
Charlie Red - best friend from 6th form
White musk - everyone at school
Kenzo jungle - gift from now DH
Clinique happy - my best friend from my year abroad
You’ve reminded me of an ex boyfriend who wore Polo sport!

My mum wore Ysatis. She had poison given to her as a gift and didn’t like it, I used to sit at her dressing table squirting it. She also had the old Charlie and gave it to me in the 80s when there was a bit left. I remember feeling so grown up at the age of 8/9.

windysocks · 03/03/2022 19:43

Lou Lou, Anais Anais, magi noir, poison, white musk. Obsession

Snoopsnoggysnog · 03/03/2022 19:43

Oh yes Eternity! Totally iconic as well

PlanningTowns · 03/03/2022 19:44

Wow thank you all for the replies! Some of those scents really do take me back - some good memories others not so much!

I’ll have to avoid anais anais as that reminds me of my mum being in hospital!

There are many mentioned that I’d totally forgotten about! Will go and take a look! Ysatis, Armani and Charlie were definite favs in the 90s alongside the CK One!

I can’t wait until 90s night, I’m going either Grungy or indie, not quite sure what way yet! I’m hoping there will be alcopops aplenty!

Thank you again!!!

I have a soft spot for Tresor. It’s quite a sweet, candy smell that I seem to remember then thirty somethings wearing but very evocative of the era.

There’s a variant called Tresor Nuit that is quite distinctive, too.

Do they still make Exclamation!

Magi Noir was my older sister’s go to in the 1980s (I used to sneak a squirt).

I also had Givenchy Gentleman that I loved - woody and spicy and very different from the heavy women’s perfumes like Opium.

TheUnexpectedPickle · 03/03/2022 19:53

I can almost physically smell this thread!

What were the 2 perfumes that looked like a hot tap and a cold tap? Was that Benniton?

In the 00's I moved on to Lacoste Touch of Pink and Gucci Rush. Still like both.

And in about 2004 I discovered Moschino Cheap and Chic which is still my signature scent to this day. Never found anything quite like it. I flirt with others- got Coco Mademoiselle at the moment, but I always come back to Moschino.

Tonsiltrouble · 03/03/2022 19:53

I haven’t seen Hugo Boss Intense Woman on this thread, but maybe that wasn’t 90s?

I had a sample of Miss Dior recently in a JL order and I’ve been enjoying that, but that’s really old!

spanktastic · 03/03/2022 19:54

Darlingcoffee yes, I recently bought some from Amazon for my sister after we had been reminiscing about the good old days Smile

Yes they do, you can buy it in Boots Smile

I think early nineties for me we're still all about Loulou. It's bloody awful!
Later on I loved White Musk, which I still like now. I also liked Chloe Narcisse which is way to strong for me now.
CKOne and Eternity were nice.
I fell in love with Fahrenheit in my first year of uni (1993). DH is not an aftershave person at all but I've bought him Fahrenheit and spray some on him if we're going on a night out. I still absolutely love it.

harrumphs · 03/03/2022 19:56

Later 90s I liked Tommy Girl and Cool Water Woman. I think I'd still wear those now.

scrivette · 03/03/2022 20:01

I still wear Cool Water, it always gets loads of comments.

I had forgotten about Tommy Girl, I used to wear that a lot, CK1 and various Impulse body sprays remind me of the 90's. My friends and I also went through a phase of wearing Lynx Africa - not sure why as it was for men.

MalagaNights · 03/03/2022 20:05

For a real hairspray and cigarette night out vibe:

Gucci Rush.

I really want to wear this now!!

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal I bought a 100ml bottle of Cerruti 1881 in Superdrug a couple of days ago, on offer for £23. It was a bit of an impulse buy, but really glad I bought it. It was my favourite for years.
