Do I need to bin everything I used on my face before I knew I was COVID +?

Day 2. Only tested because my lat flows had a PCR included to cross check their efficacy.

Do I need to bin all the make up and skincare I used before I knew I had it?

Might sound daft, I'm a bit stunned and overwhelmed

Why would you do that?

Lazypuppy · 19/02/2022 12:13

Why would you?

HelloDulling · 19/02/2022 12:13

No. Make a cup of tea and sit down.

SillyBub · 19/02/2022 12:15

I'd just burn your house down to get rid of any traces of the virus that's already inside your own body

LookItsMeAgain · 19/02/2022 12:15

YES!!!

And all of your clothes!!!! Burn them....burn them all!!!!!

And I'll be around shortly to get your car keys because you shouldn't keep that either!!!!

For goodness sake...no, you don't need to bin everything you used on your face before you knew you were Covid+

Now, as you were Grin

Cstring · 19/02/2022 12:20

I binned a lip balm if used before I knew I was positive but I wouldn’t go any further than that.
Don’t go down the rabbit hole of thinking this way, it’s not necessary!

ItsOnlyWordsInnit · 19/02/2022 12:21

One of the more fortunate things about this bloody virus is that it's a bit rubbish at passing itself on via objects. If you haven't touched your make up stuff for a few days there's no chance it can infect anyone else.

LookItsMeAgain · 19/02/2022 12:21

Why??? Wipe the top of the lip balm (if it was like a lipstick) in a tissue and move on. So wasteful.
MrsTimRiggins · 19/02/2022 12:23

Wtf? No! Do you usually suffer with health anxiety?

Louisianagumbo · 19/02/2022 12:25

Yeah, you're right, that's daft.

NuffSaidSam · 19/02/2022 12:25

@HelloDulling

No. Make a cup of tea and sit down.
This.
marqueses · 19/02/2022 12:26

Why make up? What's the link with covid?

TinaYouFatLard · 19/02/2022 12:27

Just when I think sanity is returning.

CharacterForming · 19/02/2022 12:31

You cannot catch Covid from yourself. Really, you can't.

If you are regularly sharing makeup with other household members then stop doing that.

Louisianagumbo · 19/02/2022 12:33

Sorry, my response was not very helpful. The virus needs a host body to survive and replicate so any virus that is outside the body and on a surface, incl your makeup, will just die. So even if there had been any virus on your makeup, which is very unlikely, it will just die naturally and not be able to reinfect you. No need to throw anything.

milkysmum · 19/02/2022 12:35

What on Earth has made you think you would need to do this? I am really confused.

oldtableleg · 19/02/2022 12:38

are you thinking that the virus can somehow survive on/in the makeup & then re-infect you at some point in the future? Effectively re-infecting yourself with a virus that miraculously survives on a surface for 2/3/4 weeks? That's really not going to happen Confused

Same goes for the lip balm!

Unless you're sharing makeup with someone else, in which case you need to stop that because - grim.

dementedpixie · 19/02/2022 12:43

Why on earth would you think you needed to?
There has never been advice to bin everything you've touched.

Castile1810 · 19/02/2022 12:45

This can't be real.

TheKeatingFive · 19/02/2022 12:49

Say what now?

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/02/2022 12:50

No!

Mamamamasaurus · 19/02/2022 12:51

Why would you though?

stevalnamechanger · 19/02/2022 12:52

@HelloDulling

No. Make a cup of tea and sit down.
This
AColdDuncanGoodhew · 19/02/2022 12:55

As the others have said, no, you don't need to do that

LittleBearPad · 19/02/2022 12:57

What they said ^^ (except the lip balm poster)
