Do I need to bin everything I used on my face before I knew I was COVID +?

Day 2. Only tested because my lat flows had a PCR included to cross check their efficacy.

Do I need to bin all the make up and skincare I used before I knew I had it?

Might sound daft, I'm a bit stunned and overwhelmed

Yes, I'm very anxious indeed that teen DD/ Husband might pick it up via something of mine in bathroom.
Have avoided it until now by being v careful+ am horrified as to whom I may have inadvertently given it to. Although I was masked, have been in a few CEV environments this week. Have no idea how I've picked it up.

I see my response is disproportionate and I thankyou all for being direct.
Those of you who've been kind, thanks particularly.

I'd prefer not to be freaking out but all of your words are very helpful until reason and calm returns.

I've got covid too ☹️ I'm seeking solace in doing nice skincare. Give yourself a little pamper and don't panic ❤️

KeepingAnOpenMind · 19/02/2022 13:00

Are you serious?

Fairislefandango · 19/02/2022 13:09

OP - try to think about it logically. If you had a cold, would you throw out all your skincare and make-up for fear of re-catching the cold every time you used it in the future? I know Covid can (sometimes) be much more serious than a cold, but it's the same principle.

CharacterForming · 19/02/2022 13:18

If you're trying not to give Covid to other household members then that's reasonable - just tell them not to use your stuff. If you want to be extra cautious maybe put your bathroom stuff in a separate bag that you take to and from your bedroom but I personally wouldn't bother.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/02/2022 13:22

Tell dd to leave your stuff alone, you've probably got it from her if she's at school.

LiveFromNewYork · 19/02/2022 14:03

I must admit this never crossed my mind

liveforsummer · 19/02/2022 14:06

The only thing of yours they are going to pick it up from in the bathroom or elsewhere is your expelled breath.

WhatAHexIGotInto · 19/02/2022 14:09

I've got CoVID just now. This hasn't occurred to me at all. I am now eyeing the lip balm at the side of my bed with suspicion.

Luckygrey · 19/02/2022 14:10

Sorry you're feeling so anxious OP. Not getting covid is more luck than judgement now I think, so don't start beating yourself up about where you might have caught it. I'm around people all day every day, and haven't caught it yet according to my regular tests.
I know people who've had it and not passed it to people they live with despite not isolating themselves within their home.
No need to bin anything except tissues.

Tbf some replies are harsh because this is exactly the sort of thing that was being talked about on here in the early days.

I agree with you 100% @Luckygrey.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 19/02/2022 14:32

I didn't even change my toothbrush.

liveforsummer · 19/02/2022 14:41

@Idroppedthescrewinthetuna

I didn't even change my toothbrush.
Me neither, didn't cross my mind. In fact I only changed mine now as I left my other one behind when visiting a friend earlier in the week. Perhaps I should warn her 😬
Cstring · 19/02/2022 15:07

@LittleBearPad

What they said ^^ (except the lip balm poster)
Should have added, it was mainly so DD didn’t use the lip balm straight after me. I’m not generally wasteful. I did also say not necessary to bin anything else before anyone else piles on me.!
