You're right Hoxtonchick! I've got 3 pairs and I love them!

Lizs- i went to Bluewater at about 4 pm on Friday and the world and his wife were there!

It was grim!

An assistant in john Lewis said that they think saturday will be even busier but a bit quieter on Sunday.

to busy to get a seat in a cafe, so no reviving coffee for me!

There did seem to be a lot of stuff reduced. I think it is a bumper year for bargains!

My worst sale purchase was a set of five pairs of knickers which I'd thought were size 12 but turned out to be size 22 when I went to put them on.
Best buy was a lovely pale pink leather purse with pale blue lining reduced to £11 from £27.

I'm too fecking lazy for sales, and now have the convenient excuse of being too far away.

I'm also a weirdo - the euphemism is 'ecclectic taste' - and so never find anything in sales that appeals to me.

newgirl · 29/12/2007 18:41

my best sale buy was a black armani evening jacket cost £99 original price £899 Harrods last day of sale - it fits really well

jeans in french connection today 24 from 65 - size 14 yippee

worst sale buy - shoes that were too big - stupid stupid

Well we did brave Bluewater yesterday and it would have been fine apart from a 7 car shunt on the access road causing jams . Got some work trousers in Gap (£6.99), shoes for dh and shoes & clothes for kids (Geox had over 40% off kids shoes) and some bedding. Got busier after lunchtime.

mosschops30 · 30/12/2007 12:37

lol glad I'm not the only one to have bought shoes that were too big (and I wore them once )

My best buy was last year we bought a 3 seater sofa and chair from M&S for £648 ...an absolute bargain and far better quality than the tat you get from DFS/SCS

HoHoHousemum · 30/12/2007 13:04

I can't be doing with the crush of the start of the sales - DH and I both do the same, wait until the tail end of the sales and then see what's left at rock-bottom price. Bought some gorgeous "hooker boots" in M&S a couple of years back for £20 down from £100 - last pair left, black satin pointy stiletto ankle boots, v sexy with nice jeans. (Or with nothing...)

I keep tags on anything I don't need to wear, then if it goes in the sale I buy it and take back the full price one. Beware shops have no legal obligation to refund something just 'cos you don't want it, so check out the returns policy first (eg within 28 days), and also you would have to secure one in your size, then take back the other - they wouldn't just give you a refund and let you buy it, most shops would give you the refund then say that you have to take your chance when it goes back on the shop floor.

As due to drop sprog any day now, haven't gone to the shops, but bought loads for kids on Next/Boden/Marks sales (bought 3 sets girl/3 sets boy stuff in Next as will have had sprog before returns date passes!) Also got less-than-half-price McLaren buggy from Next for summer hols (only suitable for a girl as pink though!), and some half price unisex cot bedding.

Worst buy - high heeled beaded strappy shoes with those criss-cross ties that do up like ballet shoes - they were only £5 down from £45 but they are so bloody awkward to wear, and if you walk anywhere the ties start to undo. As I have large feet (size 8), perhaps I should sell them to a cross-dresser on eBay

LIZS - I was in the way home from Bluewater and saw the 7 car shunt that you mention, and that it was blocking the access road. Bet the roads around Bluwater took a while to recover from that.
I was dead speedy yesterday,in Bluwater by 9 - quick flit to ELC to take something back then dashed to Fat Face and M&S and then home. I live pretty close to Bluwater (it is my nearest shopping centre) so I pop in there all the time.
Must check out the Geox shoe sale, DS really wants a pair of Geox.
